Nice update Shivu. as I guessed. there mus be some reason RK lost his temper. now both RK and madhu are upset. he still hasnt got over his past and now its hampering his present. n as he listened in his hallucination/ dream he need to let it go in order to set his present. i hope he will reconcile with madhu n make it up for her. thanks for the pm

PART 25
Blood rushed into my head as I woke up. I swung and fell back on the sofa. My head was spinning and paining like a thousand devils. Holding my sofa, I got up and opened the door for Stacy.

"OMG! Mam. Are you alright?"

"Yes Stacy.", I couldn't recognise my own voice.

"Mam it doesn't look so. Should I get you some citrus?"

"Lemonade would do Stacy. I will get ready by then."

"Can't you skip office today mam?"

"No honey. I have a conference till late night today."

"Ohh. Mam, I'll make you something to ease out your pain and hangover", she smiled and entered the house. I turned around towards my room and using support of various furnitures, I made my way to the washroom.

I did feel better after a hot sauna and shower but the spinning head was driving me insane. I rang up Maria.

"Pick me up Baby!", I managed to speak with my heavy baritone.

"Are you sick?", she yelled over the phone.

"Not exactly. Hangover.", I said.

"Woman!", she taunted and then agreed to pick me up. I smiled and finished my cereals while Steven barged in.

"Morning Mam!", he greeted me. I nodded looking at him.

"Steven, go back home. I don't need you.", I told me.

"Mam! I will lose my job."

"STEVEN!", I shouted and then realising what jobs meant, "alright. Stay here. I don't want you with me. I shall not tell anyone that you didn't accompany me."

"What will I answer Will."

"Tell him you're with me at the Chief Justices Summit."

"Mam!"

"Steven please. No discussions", I got up and gathering my purse, I trudged out. Ri supported me to get in the car.

"You look terrible"

"I am ok."

"You're not.", she glared at me as she started off the engine.

"So, why did you drink?"

"Just like that? I was craving for some vodka in my veins.", I moaned.

"Is that it?"

"Yeah. That is basically it Ri. Why?"

"Because there seems to be more. Even with the hangovers, you sounded chirpy before"

"I didn't have these hangovers only before. I don't know what is happening. Vodka is affecting me like poison", I cried as I moved. My bones rubbed against each other and pained.

"I am shocked myself Madhu. We took over so many shots in the past. Nothing happened. And now look at you?"

I clicked my tongue and gazed outside. There was heavy office-time traffic and the cars only trudged on the roads. "How was your night.", I murmured. She had to ask me to repeat my sentence as I wasn't loud enough.

"So, that conference thing? Was just a major prank played by the PR Teams of the Chief Justices and the summit organisers."

"WHAT!", I screeched in my painful voice.

"Don't shout", she held my shoulders.

"Prank?", I asked again.

"Yes. They wanted to promote the event, social awareness."

"What a pathetic way", I rolled my eyes that pained.

"I know exactly. Adam and I were left cribbing."

"I understand."

Soon, we reached our office and Ri helped me reach the cabin.

"Woman, you stay here while I shall take the interns", Ri told me as I sat on my chair.

"Are you sure you will be able to handle all the interns."

"Yes. You just stay back. Do the live telecast today"

"Why? The telecast team is supposed to get the stuff aired. We just work for the newspaper."

"Yes honey but I am taking them with me because you're not there. So, just stay back and help Adam with the telecasting thing."

"I haven't even seen the telecast department of my office.", I sighed sadly.

"Aww! I am sure you'd love it.", she was adamant and left with the team.

Her mention of the telecast department made me realise that a thing like that did exist in our house. Brisbane Weekly was a newspaper as well as a News Channel. Both the telecast and publishing were done in the same skyscraper.

Adam showed me the live telecast room and post that he left. I left a message at the receptionist to inform any of the guests. The editors and correspondents showed me how the stuff worked. I had read about this in my graduation but working for the papers had nullified my correspondent skills. It took me an hour or two to understand the basics. I could see the entire event through the cameras. Ri and Aaron were in the front waiting for the press conference. I checked the time and it was somewhere in the late evenings that the conference was starting.

"Now", I instructed the cameraman on the headphones and he rolled it. Ri got the signal and she flagged off. Managing the live feeds was so much fun. It was like a big video game with live players. By the end of the discussion, I took out my headphones and realised my condition. I sneezed heavily. My head was too heavy. "Are you ok.", one of the colleagues from Telecast Dept. asked me. I couldn't recall his name. "I think its the hangover.", I muttered. He moved his head in consideration and then I trudged out to my cabin.

I checked my phone, there were 11 voice mails, all from RK's international number. I chose not to entertain them and sat holding my head. An hour later, Ri entered with Aaron.

"A job well done Aaron!", I commended as he handed over the papers to me.

"Thank u MD!", he smiled. I signed the daily reports and he took his leave.

"I think we should go too!", Ri said. I nodded and took my bag.

"Are you ok?", she asked in the elevator.

"Can't really say that.", I moaned in my voice.

"Your voice is still scary."

"I know.", I smiled as we sat in the car. She ignited the engine and we took off. On the road, I lifted my legs up on the seat and pressed it back.

"The traffic is pretty slow. Go to sleep MD.", Ri poked me. I nodded and closed my eyes.

"MD. We're home!", Ri shook me up from my slumber. We were standing in front of my compound. I rubbed my eyes and then pulled myself out of the car.

"Go home Ri. I will manage.", I told her.

"It will just take 5 minutes to drop you off to your apartment."

I gave in and we trudged all the way to my apartment.

I knocked at the door, expecting Stacy to open. The door clicked open and I looked into RK's face. He wore white linen shirt and a black overcoat. Ri was taken aback. She faked a smile.

"Hello Sir.", she smiled and greeted him. RK nodded in return. He looked at me, but I looked away at Ri.

I pushed the door wider and tried to get in. His arms brushed against mine. "Wait.", he said and held my head.

"You're feverish.", he felt my arms. I turned to him. Ri was watching us.

"I'll see you tomorrow MD! It was a pleasure meeting you Sir.", she smiled and turned around.

"Maria?", he called her back.

"What happened to her?", he asked. I clicked my tongue in anger.

"You don't know?", she was taken aback. "Ohh! You were in Toronto.", she hit her head.

"Nothing, she drank from a local bar last night. So yeah, basically the hangover and the change of weather.", she rolled her eyes at my stupidity. I closed my eyes in frustration as he held my shoulders.

"Thank you so much for dropping her off.", RK said to Maria.

"She is all yours Sir.", Maria winked at me and waved a goodbye.

RK closed the door behind us and then looked at me with anger. "Seriously?", he roared. I fumed and crossed my hands on my chest. "Local Bar?", he asked me. I stared at him, without talking. "Why?", he took a deep breath. I turned around not wanting to face him.

"ANSWER ME!", he turned me. I stared into his eyes. "Speak!", he ordered. I fumed not wanting to speak. "Madhu!", he shouted.

"Why do you careee.", my sentence began with a shrivelled roar and ended in a squeak. He looked at me insanely. "Look! What have you done!", he gritted his teeth together. "RK!", I held my forehead in disgust.

"Shut your mouth!", he closed my lips with all of his fingers. I looked at him shocked and disturbed. He pulled me and lifted me up. I had no strength in my body to resist this. "You're burning with fever.", he cribbed as he barged into my room and left me on the bed. "How could you go and work?", he asked pulling up the blanket. I chose not to reply. He sighed and loosening his collar button, he rushed out for some lukewarm water. "Have this.", he ordered me. I frowned and took it.

"Go to sleep. I'll arrange a physician.", he said.

"There's no need.", I said.

"Sleep.", he ordered and took out his phone. "Will. Get the best physician available to Madhu Mam's apartment.", he said and hung up. He stood up and stood by the window.

"I am sorry.", he said looking out to the sky. I turned to him. "I was in a pretty mad mood yesterday.", he continued. I smiled and hugged the blanket. "I hoped you'd understand. But you made a mess of yourself.", he looked at me. I looked away. "I should understand?", I cleared my throat. "I was upset...natural reaction.", I said. He nodded and sat beside me again. "Don't drink again.", he warned. I nodded. He pulled the blanket and asked me to sleep. "Is that all?", I murmured. "What?", he shot a glance. "Is that all you wanted to say. After how you spoke to me?", I frowned. He dropped his head down, "I don't know how to put it together. I am sorry. I am just...I shouldn't have spoken to you like that!", he blurted out. "I saw Sahil Roy..", he mumbled. "Who?", I coughed loudly. "Relax...", he held my shoulder. "How did he get out?", I was aghast. "Someone bailed him out. Its no big deal. And after 6 years, its all in papers. In papers only the criminal serves his term also."

"That is true! What did he say?"

"You're worried about what he said then what you did to yourself!", his body stiffened. "I am ok, RK.", I tried to reason. "No you're not! And this is because of me!", he held his forehead. "What can I do to make up?", he wondered. "RK...", I spoke. "Sssh! Lie down.", he helped me lie. "RK?", I spoke again. "Hmm?", he asked. "Stay?", I said. He looked into my eyes and moved his fingers down from my temple to my cheeks. "Sorry...", he whispered. "Its ok!", I smiled and closed my eyes.
