Well both are extremely successful so I can't fault either but I enjoy Shahrukh's method more it's fun to watch promotions.

hands down Sharukh khan and his team for releasing below average promos to keep low expectations and still doing some thing to make people buy tickets.😆

I'd say Aamir considering the buzz he was able to create for films like Peepli Live.

SRK tells us everything because there's nothing left in the films beyond what he says. Aamir doesn't say because kuch hai hi nahin bata ne ko (Dhoom3).

Shahrukh Khan... he is the second richest actor in the world, aise kohi nahi banta easily 2nd richest actor...it's all about marketing his movies and earning profits at exponential rate.
Everyone should be proud of this real life fact that he is the 2nd richest actor in the world in spite of being from one of the poorer countries of the world. No other indian actors come anywhere nearby him, why?

Because of the consistency, 1990- SRK was in news, 1995, same... 2000, same... 2005, same... 2010 same.. competitors changed year by year, SRK was the one they all were always compared with.

^^^^ srk hasn't earned all the money bec of marketing his movies ... he is a fantastic business man ...eg: launching vfx making in movies ahead of its time... and now all films use his production house for it ... i'm actually kind of in awe ...


Strictly in terms of marketing movies - i think srk was the king ... but aamir has over taken him ... aamir has successfully managed to project as if he india's answer to marlon brando and robert de niro , all wrapped in one ... plus the whole 'i am an intelligent actor, a concerned citizen, blah-blah-blah'

SRK = WalMart. A Goliath. Rolls like a juggernaut mowing anything in his path. Love him or hate him. Nothing can match his ability to spread like across markets faster than the bubonic plague. His distribution system of selling himself will be unparalleled.

Aamir = iPhone. Started as a solid reliable product. Good design. Good quality. Phenomenal popularity got to his head and bloated the ego. Minimal quality value that is not really worth the hype, but still commands a high price due to its perceived brand value.

In university level econometrics, they teach you that you'd rather include an irrelevant variable than exclude a relevant one in a regression analysis. Similarly, in the film business, you would much rather over promote than risk under-promotion. Shahrukh's tactic seems to have worked this time, even if it failed for Ra.One.
