Thank you for this very positive and thorough analysis of the char mani.

From the day Mani was introduced, I was intrigued by this character. His name was the most "attractive" element for me. He was introduced at a junction when ISHRA were contemplating the possibility of "being in love" .. An element from Ishu's past..

Even though in the beginning I used to think Mani is introduced to bring the jealousy angle in the drama, lately I get the feeling that he is here to enhance Ishitha- the Patni- The Mrs Raman Kumar Bhalla.

To me Mani also is counterpart of Asoaka..

What I am saying then is, Mani to me is

A character, who is here to enhance/ highlight Ishitha as an ideal wife, by playing the role similar to that of Asoaka in Raman-Shagun equation..

Mani, if noticed, only focus is Ishitha. This is reflected since the first meeting but very much emphasized in the episode yesterday. His every move, every action, every dialogue was around Ishitha.

Mani if noticed, bends his values, principles, disciplines, for Ishitha without a second thot.. Ishitha is his weakness. He cannot say no to her.

Mani is that best friend who secretly loves her. (There I said it!!!) but will not pursue her, because he knows he is not her choice and also she is now someone elses's wife.

Ultimately Mani wants Ishitha's happiness.

Now, going back to Raman's past

what we know of Raman-shagun-Asoaka ?

In a nut shell, Raman and shagun were happily married. Asoaka came into thier life, he highlighted to Shagun, where Raman was lacking as a husband. And one fine day Shagun walked out the marriage.

Now what is Mani doing? Unintentionally, may be, he is highlighting were Raman is lacking isn't it? Thus playing the role of Asoaka.

In this marriage, with Ishitha where is Raman failing as a husband? .

To me,

1) in openly showing his feeling for her,

2) valuing her opinion.

3) treating her as a partner

4) giving her importance

5) being there for her.

Yes yes he does all the above already. But in a twisted way, in a veiled way, where she or anyone for that matter, does not realize this.

What does Mani do, he does all the above 5 points openly, that there is no doubt in ishitha's mind that

Mani is the bestest, her savior, her problem solver.

This is what Raman fears, his inability to show his feelings, his appreciation, his love to Ishitha verses, the ease with which Mani showcase the same.

Now ishitha is not shagun. Will a man like Asoaka stand a chance with ishitha? No ofcourse not. Hence Raman does not fear men like Asoaka..

Will a man like Mani stand a chance with ishitha, no, ofcourse not. Because she is in love with Raman. The raman who is karela kumar, ravan kumar, nariyal kumar, and finally Ishitha's Raman kumar. This ishitha knows but does Raman?

No not yet.

that is why mani is here. To make Raman realise, ishitha may befriend many "mani"s but there can only be one Raman. Her man. To make him realise, Ishitha is no shagun, because ishitha loves raman where as shagun never did.

If he did not trust her .. he would've blasted the crap out of her .. for lying .. he cried ... his heart broke .. based on what .. a simple prevarication from Ishita . she did not lie ( atleast he is unaware of the lie) .. she just said a patient ka call hai .. he also picks up the phone thinking why is she hiding a patients phone cal from me .. who is the patient ..

But he quickly jumped the gun to culpability ... showing its not ISHITA he does nott trust ,..,.. ITS HIMSELF 😳
