Two Remakes, 1 Release Date By MovieTalkies.com, 18 July 2007 |
Audiences recently witnessed the clash of three 'A' films on the same day when Apne, Aap Ka Surroor and Awarapan all released together and now audiences will witness the release of remakes of two classic films on the same day! Looks like Ram Gopal Varma and Kamal Sadhana have both zeroed in on August 31st as the release date for Ram Gopal Varma Ke Aag (whatever they have finally decided to call the film) and Victoria No. 203, their respective films. Interestingly while Sholay has been a tough battle for Ramu due to the legal tussle with the Sippy's (the makers of the original Sholay) over rights to the title and the story of the film, it will see Bachchan, who played the hero Jai in the original, play Gabbar, the villain in the remake. Coincidentally Kamal Sadhana had no such legal issues with his remake, since the original Victoria No. 203 was made by his own father and while the original started Ashok Kumar as Raja and Praan as Rana, Kamal's adaptation will see Anupam Kher and Om Puri in the respective roles. The film is directed by Ananth Mahadevan and also marks the debut of late Vinod Mehra's daughter, Soniya. |
