A few weeks ago I had high hopes of the journey of Jodha Akbar after the death of the twins. Jodha and Jalal supporting each, their relationship becoming stronger, Jodha was to involve herself in trading and administration, more reforms by Jalal, the navrattans etc. There was enthusiasm in this forum on this facet of their lives, I remember the vivid picture of the future that Abhay painted. I myself started a thread called 'Interesting Ideas' thread.
Then one day, sober and thoughtful, I reflected on this vision. How could I be so stupid to believe it?. The CV's have proven repeatedly to have neither the ability nor the desire to accomplish it. They would have made a hash of it if they had tried.
So, I am satisfied that Salim is coming soon, for the following reasons-
1 When was the last time there was anything joyful in this serial. Maybe 4 days of the Kajri track in March and one day of SR, squeezed in between the crassness of Ruqaiya's non pregnancy. That is not even a full week of happiness in more than a year of the serial. The coming of Salim will force the CV's to give something uplifting for a while.
2 All the things envisaged for Jalal and Jodha that we imagined are still at least theoretically possible. The coming of Salim won't change that.
3 I am sick and tired of Jodha being treated as a door mat by everyone, by Jalal, Ruqaiya and the rest. After Salim's birth, the CV's may want to continue to depict that since they like showing Jodha suffer. However, anyone being disrespectful to the mother of the next emperor won't be believed by the audience, and soon the CV's too will tire of it.
4 I think a proper depiction of Akbar's imperialist campaign would have been interesting but Ekta has neither the resources or the finesse to show it. Instead they show Akbar going on a warpath for a truly ridiculous reason.I hope that in thus 'natkiya rupantar' Jalal gets the Salim news before he goes on a rampage.
5 Ekta has a serial called YHM on STAR, which has a father, mother and a little child. I have heard good things about it. Now that JA is going on the same route, it is possible that we will get some tried and tested but recycled tracks from YHM. For me, it is a good thing, I don't watch any serial other than JA, and even for our CV's limited abilities, this should be easy. So, we can expect better written tracks.
6 Salim, whenever he enters will be a cute little fellow. He will gladden hearts. The humour of Birbal, the cuteness of Salim and the other drama as before.
