Chapter 29: Krsnavigraha

As Arjuna meditated, he was filled with bliss and joy. His mind felt an undescribable exhilaration. He uttered the mantra fervently, and his vision brightened blindingly.

He opened his eyes and to his utmost ecstasy, he beheld the Goddess in all Her Divine Glory. Shining with the effulgence of thousand suns, Arjuna was only able to withstand her radiance due to the Divya Drishti, Divine Sight, blessed on him by Krsna.

Decorated with a garland of japakusuma flowers, with a sugarcane bow in one hand, five flowery arrows in a second, a noose in the third, and a goad in the fourth, with a compassionate smile on her face, Devi Lalitambika looked at Arjuna.

"I know your heart's desire, Arjuna," she spoke, as the Pandava gazed in awe. "The Rasa Mandala, however can only be entered by a woman, who has utmost Bhakti to Krsna. You being a man, an avatara of Nara, the Foremost Male, are not permitted to enter the Rasa Mandala."

Arjuna's gaze fell down. He felt severe disappointment! So many months of tapasya, and the Devi was denying him his wish!

"Do not lose your hopes so quickly Arjuna!" The Goddess chuckled. "I never said you cannot enter. I merely stated that you are not permitted to enter. In your present form." she supplied.

Arjuna looked up at Lalitambika's cheery face. "What do you mean, Mother?"
"That your form must be changed. I shall grant you a female form. Nara shall become Naari, Arjuna shall become Arjuni.

Chapter 30: Revelation

"So," said Krsna, as he walked with Arjuna on the banks of the Ganga, "what is it that is being contemplated on in your mind now?"

Arjuna looked at his sakha, who had been with him for the most part of his life. From that day Krsna had entered their hut after Draupadi's Svayamvara, their lives had changed forever. They faced many difficulties, but Krsna had remained their constant support and guide for so many years. Arjuna thought of him as his best friend, his extraordinary cousin.

All that had changed on the battlefield. Caught between the sudden desire to throw his weapons and leave the Kurukshetra battle, Arjuna had sought Krsna's guidance. And faced the shocking revelation. Krsna was God Himself. And with God as His Charioteer, he and his brothers crossed the mighty ocean called Kurukshetra.

The war had ended a few years ago. As Arjuna's mind thus underwent a sea change of emotion, his thoughts kept dwelling on Krsna and His divinity. Suddenly, on that day, he had thought about the Gopikas of Vrindavana.

Krsna repeated his question. "What are you so furiously thinking about, sakha? Will you tell me, or is it some secret?"

Arjuna looked at Krsna. "What secrets can be kept from you, Madhava? You who are the Supreme Lord residing in our hearts, you know each and every desire of all."

Krsna waved his hand. "Yes fine. I am the Supreme Lord. Good. Now, what is the secret?"

Arjuna laughed. "Okay, so you are God. You incarnated on earth. Then what about all those stories I have heard about your childhood? Which you yourself have related so many times to us all? About the Gopikas? About the Rasaleela? About your favourite Gopika? Radha?"

On the utterance of that name, Krsna stopped. He looked at his friend, his eyes filled with tears of ecstasy. "That name alone is the root of my sustenance, as my name is Her's."

"What? You are saying that your sustenance depends on the name of a Gopika? How is that possible?" Arjuna queried, startled by Krsna's tears of joy.

"These pastimes are not easily understood, Arjuna. Indeed, the Gopikas and Gopas of Vrindavana are all my transcendental associates in Goloka, the Supreme Heaven."

"Goloka? Where is Goloka? You never revealed all this even during your spiritual discourse on the Battlefield."
Krsna looked at his friend's face with a smile. "Like I said, these pastimes are not easily understood. These are highly confidential. Even Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva are unable to experience them!"

Arjuna was filled with astonishment. "Not understood by Brahma or Shiva? Please tell me more, Krsna!"
"I cannot tell you. If I tell you, you will desire to behold these pastimes, which are not perceivable by men, however devoted to me they are."

"But Krsna, now you have awoken this curiosity in me! How am I to resist this curiosity of Your Leelas?!"

Radha's beloved smiled. "You shall see them with your own eyes. Why should I spoil the fun by revealing them now itself?!" As he said this, Arjuna's face burst into a smile. Krsna continued, "You must first worship the Goddess Tripurasundari, who alone controls entry into the Rasa Mandala! She shall initiate you into the Balavidya Mantra, following which you shall be enabled to behold my Leelas!"

And to Arjuna's delight, Krsna waved his hand once more, and in front of him, there appeared a shimmering light. The light took the form of a doorway.

"Go forth, Arjuna. Go into the light, and once you are transported, you shall behold the Goddess."

Arjuna did as he was told. He entered the light, and he was transported to a heavenly garden, where, on top of a white lotus, there sat a girl of sixteen years.

"Welcome, Arjuna, to my Grove. I shall initiate you into the Balavidya mantra now." Arjuna was astonished. This normal-looking sixteen year old was the Goddess Tripurasundari herself!
He fell at her feet, and received the mantra from her. She then instructed him. "Chant this mantra repeatedly for twelve years, and you shall receive your desire." And Arjuna had followed the instructions to perfection, to be blessed with the Darshan of the Goddess's Divine Form!

***

Goddess Lalitambika took Arjuna's hand. She led him to a lotus lake and said, "Enter this lake and bathe in it. As soon as you come out, you shall have attained your form as Arjuni." So saying, the Goddess vanished. After a moment's contemplation, Arjuna entered the lake.

So Arjun wants to know about Govind's leela's.
Surya can you explain the relation of Tripura Sundari goddess with Krishna leela's as I thought it was Krisna who was in charge of the leela's.

Chapter 31: Introductions

As she came out of the lake, she looked at herself. Surprisingly, she was not wet from the water. Her body was adorned with a fine red dress, and her limbs were adorned with elegant and light jewellery. Her reflection showed her ethereal beauty. She herself was momentarily dazzled by her reflection. She came out of the lake, not knowing where to go. As a matter of fact, she didn't know who she was.

"You are Arjuni!" said a melodious heavenly voice. "Proceed from this Southern Lake to the Lake in the East. There you shall meet your friends and all your questions will be answered."

Arjuni was astonished at the heavenly voice, but nevertheless followed the instructions. She walked towards East, where gradually she spotted another lake. And as the voice had said, there were a group of girls near the lake. As she walked towards them, she saw them whispering to each other and giving her quizzical looks. Then one of them came to Arjuni.

"Welcome here sakhi! I am Priyamuda and these are my sakhis. Who are you? Where do you come from?"

Arjuni looked at Priyamuda's kind and gentle smile. Her nervousness vanished and she said, "I do not know who I am or from where I come. All I know is that my name is Arjuni, and I was directed here by a heavenly voice, saying I will find my friends here and they will guide me further."

Priyamuda smiled again. "So be it! From today, you are also one of our sakhis! Let me introduce you to all of us! We are all the gopikas of Srimati Radharani, engaged in the service of the Moon-faced Lord of Vrindavana. This abode is that very Vrindavana."

Arjuni's mind suddenly felt a flash of a happy memory, but it disappeared. The happiness remained though.

Priyamuda then pointed at each one of the gopis.

"This is Goddess Purnarasa, our most senior gopika. This is Rasamanthara, Rasalaya, Rasavallari, Rasapiyushadhara, Rasatarangini, Rasakallolini, Rasavapika, Anangasena and Anangamalini. This is Lalita, Lalitayauvana, Madayanti, Rasavihvala, Madanamanjari, Kalavati, Ratikala, Kamakala, Kamadayini, Ratilola, Ratotsukha, Ratisarvasva and Ratichintamani. These are the Priyasakhis of Radharani.

Pointing to another group of goddesses, Priyamuda said, "These are the various goddesses of the scriptures. This is Udgita, Sugita, Kalagita, Kalasuraa, Kalakanthika, Vipanchi, Bahuhuta, Kramapada, Bahuprayoga, Bahukala, Kalavati and Kriyavati.

"These are the various Siddhayoginis: Ugratapa, Bahuprada, Bahuvrata, Priyavrata, Suvrata, Surekha, Suparva..."

And she rattled off a few more names. "... and this is Asantatika." She looked at a dazed Arjuni and laughed. "Don't worry, you shall get the names soon!"😆"

And then she led Arjuni into the Eastern Lake, and helped her in chanting the proper hymns. After decorated herself, Arjuni was taught the Krsna Mantra by Priyamuda. After chanting the mantra, Priyamuda taught her the Radha mantras. Duly worshipping Radha, Arjuni chanted:

Tapta Kanchana Gaurangi Radhe Vrindavaneshwari|
Vrishabhanu Sute Devi Pranamami Haripriye||

I worship you, O Devi Radha, you who possess a molten gold complexion, the Mistress of Vrindavana, the daughter of Vrishabhanu, and the beloved of Sri Krsna.

As soon as they had chanted this, Radharani appeared in a flash. With a lot of affection, she took Arjuni's hand and said, "You are now my sakhi as well! Come, I shall fulfil your desire!"

As Arjuni's eyes were filled with tears of ecstasy and her limbs overcome with horripilation, she followed Radharani to the northern Lake, where the goddess bestowed upon her the mantras of Sri Krsna. She told her to meditate on Krsna, who has a complexion of a dark blue lotus, decorated with ornaments, with a beauty of a crore Cupids and filled with Divine Love. Thus instructing Arjuni, Srimati Radharani told Priyamuda to take care of her.

She then proceeded towards Krsna, and with an eight petalled lotus, she worshipped him. Krsna's eyes twinkled. "What is it Radhe? So much worship for me today?"
"It is a ritual Krsna. Follow it."
And so Krsna followed her worship till the end. Radha then told Krsna about Arjuni, who was chanting the Krsna mantra with utmost devotion. Krsna told Radha, "You can escort her here now. The Rasa festival is about to begin."

"Typical. You won't come and bless her yourself?" Radha asked.
"What's the fun in that? Her excitement is only going to increase if she comes here by herself."

And so Radha and Sharada, another sakhi, came to Arjuni and gently taking her hands, escorted her to the grove of Krsna.
