Are John Abraham and Bipasha Basu together or have they called it quits – that's what everyone wants to know? Friends of the couple say that things have not been smooth for a while now but there is more than what meets the eye.
"The two of them have been signed on for a major contract by a corporate house. The reason why they were paid what they were paid is purely because the company wanted to them together…they were a couple that was a hit amongst the youth. They have appearances and ads together… now if the two call it quits and appear with new partners how does the ad make any sense? They were paid more because they were coming together on screen because of their off screen status," reveals a friend of the couple.
While neither the couple nor the company are ready to comment on this, there have always been little whispers in the industry before the recent set of rumours that all wasn't well between John and Bipasha and that the two were together possibly for contractual reasons.
"They were signed on for a contract that was worth over 3.5 crore cumulatively and the contract is renewable every two years. The two were expected to make appearances for promotions and adverts together," says a friend of the couple, "and I think it was important for the campaign that they remain together off screen since that is what they were being projected on screen too!"
Another fact that has recently come to notice is that until a couple of weeks back the pair appeared together in the television commercials and hoardings for the product the two endorse but the latest round of advertisements show the two appearing individually.
So is this, as the rumours suggest, the beginning of the end or is it just a new advertising campaign?
