Episode 3: Enter The Black Widow
Damini stood in front of Raja and the other three killers, removing her black cloak to reveal herself in a rusty black colored top, black jacket, black jeans, and high end black colored boots. She swept her curled, silky black hair on the side. She gave a bold look on her face, grinning with her beautiful rose red lips. Who is this woman? Kabir asked himself as he couldn't help but stare at Damini's beauty.
Raja looked at Damini from head to toe and then asked, "What guts do you have that have brought you, a woman, into the deep, dark den of the Killers Society?"
"Raja bhai, if you knew who I really was, you wouldn't ask such a question. Do you know what Damini means?" Damini asked. "Lightning. And just like lightning, I strike as I please. I had told you...I prefer being called Damini. Yet this city and beyond have given me a suitable name as well. Does the name, black widow, ring a bell?"
Raja stood aback, surprised upon hearing the name. Kabir, Aryan, and Sahir looked at each other in confusion. "What is this black widow?" Sahir asked.
"You're the black widow?" Raja asked. "The black widow has been arrested for the past two years."
"And now she's out of the net!" Damini cackled. "No matter how much you tie her down, she unravels her way out eventually."
"It takes more than words to make me believe anyone." Raja said.
Damini smirked, "If I know correctly, it is you who says that words don't bring out bullets." Damini drew out a revolver out of her jacket, loading it with extra bullets. She aimed it directly at Raja. "But the revolver is in my hand. If I shoot...you won't need words anymore."
Raja raised his left eyebrow. "You really want to prove your identity?" Raja asked. Raja got out of Damini's way, pointing to a scarecrow on the wall. "Then fire away."
Just then, Damini pulled the trigger and fired at the scarecrow five times at its chest. After firing, she blew off the smoke that came from the gun. Raja went closer to the scarecrow, analyzing the gun shots on the chest of it. He turned to Damini and said, "You're the real deal then."
"What?! How does her shooting skills prove her identity?" Sahir asked Raja.
"Shots were inflicted in a row, exactly five centimeters apart across the chest. This is the shooting style that belongs to the black widow. Only she can perfect it." Raja explained.
"Very good. Your research is precise." Damini grinned.
Raja went up to Damini. "I should have known. Your attitude, the cloak...it all speaks of the black widow," Raja said. "So I finally see your real face."
"Raja bhai, who is this black widow she speaks of?" Kabir asked.
"She will introduce herself, Kabir." Raja replied.
"Why not?!" Damini smirked. "The phase of the black widow began when I was fifteen years old. At that tender age, I was forced into child marriage by my uncle who used me to get money to pay off debts. Once I was married, my life was a living hell. That pitiful excuse for a husband beat the pulp out of me every day and cursed at me as well. I tolerated him for two years. Then that day came."
"What happened?" Kabir asked.
"I wanted to buy new jewels. So I took money from his safe. When he found out, he whipped me to the point that he left this scar on my wrist," Damini continued as she showed the three boys the crimson red scar on her right wrist. "If you look at it, its shape is like that of a gun. Then I knew...that this was a symbol left on me that I had to utilize. So late at night when he was asleep, I took his gun from under the bed and shot him five times in the back. Next thing you know, he falls on the floor, drowning in his blood."
"And that was only the beginning. Her name was only given after she spread more terror," Raja said. "After killing that husband, she stole all his riches and escaped. And since she was such a clever street girl...she used that for her living. Why is she named the black widow? After that incident, she was marrying various decent money making men and then killing them off to steal their valuables. Whats so special is that she murdered each one the same way. She shot them five times in the back while wearing a black cloak. After killing six men, she was caught and placed in prison. And now, two years later...she stands before the Killers Society."
Damini grinned, looking up at Raja. "Now what are your plans?" Raja asked Damini. "To marry one of my men and kill them off?"
"No, Raja bhai. The marriage murders are a thing of the past," Damini replied. "But now that I'm free from prison, I have to put my skills to use. And I am exactly what this gang needs. A femme fatale can do wonders. Just imagine...the power of a woman in the Killers Society. What's say?"
Raja pondered for a moment, turning to Kabir, Aryan, and Sahir. He turned back to Damini and said, "We'll see. You can stay in the Killers Society. But we will see...how long you will last."
"Challenge accepted." Damini smirked.
"Good. Then you might as well meet the top killers of the society...Kabir, Aryan, and Sahir." Raja said as he pointed to each one of the boys.
"Lets see...how long you three remain at the top." Damini told Kabir, Aryan, and Sahir. The three boys remained silent, stunned by Damini's attitude. Damini picked up her cloak and a black bag laying on the floor and headed downward in the hall. "I've never seen a woman like her." Kabir said.
Raja cleared his throat, getting Kabir, Aryan, and Sahir's attention. He slowly went towards the three boys, with the three boys sharing intimidated looks on their faces. "Listen carefully...I'll only say this once," Raja said. "Be mindful around that girl. She may be a beauty...but a deadly one at that. So be careful." Raja then looked directly at Aryan, who then looked up at him. "Especially you," Raja told Aryan. "You're life was ruined once. Ruin it again and you'll be a dead man bathing in his own blood."
Aryan remained silent. Kabir and Sahir followed Raja towards the other hall, while Aryan stood alone. The past will never leave me, Aryan thought to himself as a tear rolled down his face.
In the right hall, Damini continued to walk until she reached a vacant room. The room consisted of a standard sized bed, a red rug, and a closet. She dropped her bag and cloak on the bed. "Not exactly my standards. But it'll do." Damini said. As she turned around to close the door, she spotted Kabir standing outside of the room, looking at her. "Have you ever heard of knocking?" Damini asked Kabir.
"Raja bhai told me to make sure you get to your room." Kabir replied as he entered inside the room.
"I'm a smart girl. I know my way around places," Damini said. "Women aren't as helpless as you think."
"From your story, I can see that," Kabir said. "I've been doing this job for many years. I never came across a woman of your kind. So, I'll keep you aside from me in our own places."
Damini looked at Kabir, confused. This one is odd. He doesn't seem very vulnerable compared to others that I've seen, Damini thought to herself. She then shook her head and said, "If you're done with your useless commentary, can you leave now?"
Kabir nodded his head. As he headed out to leave, Damini slipped while walking on the red rug. As she fell, Kabir caught her, holding his grip around her waist while she held onto him by his neck. She looked up at him and that's when Kabir looked directly into her eyes. He felt entranced as he looked deeply into the dark brown shade of her eyes as they glistened under the lights of the room. Her eyes...why do they draw me towards her? Kabir asked himself as he continued to hold Damini. This is what Raja bhai warned us about. Beauty that is deadly.
Kabir immediately let go of Damini, while she looked at him with a confused look on her face. He rushed out of the room, leaving her by herself. What a strange guy, Damini thought to herself.
