The more I see and know Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra, the more my pupils dilate in total wonderment. Forget about the eight modern wonders of the world; forget about the great Mughal contribution to the new 'Wonders' – the Taj Mahal. I find that our new age actresses are 'it'. Beautiful wonders. Women with the 'mostest'. With chutzpah, lan, style and grace. They have it all. And oh, yes, the confidence – in bushels. Look at them. Beautiful women. With different approaches to life. Part of the new brigade. A brigade that also boasts of Rani, Preity, Mallika, Amisha, Kareena, Aishwarya. A bold and beautiful brigade that we should always be proud of. Look at Bipasha. Easily one of the most gorgeous, warmest-hearted and loveliest women I've known. Right from the time she did her first ever photoshoot for a film magazine for me. And she's only grown in stature and confidence. Not afraid to boast of her relationship(s). And hardly afraid to flaunt her eligible status. If every man in the world wants to date Bipasha Basu ... stand in line already ... we all know why. |

Ditto Priyanka. In a different way though. She's more diplomatic of the two. But is from similar mould. More reserved, but can be as bold. And yes, she's beautiful and warm and open too ... for those who matter to her. Many journos complain about the aloof, haughty even, nature of Rani Mukherjee. And I always tell them they must be talking about someone else. The Rani I know and adore is a warm hearted, loving natured, family-oriented person who wears her affection (again for those who matter). Once again, she is bold in her choices, except that she doesn't believe in talking about it to the world or even 'leaking' info to the media like most actors like to do to get their mugs in the press. That's what is so honest and amazing about Rani. Preity Zinta – never afraid to beard the lion either. When the paparazzi followed her to her building to get a 'scoop' from her neighbours, PZ flew down the stars, in ghar ka clothes and chappals to vent her ire at them, sans make-up, face-to-face. No pretense here. When it came to taking up for Salman - whereas the world was afraid to – she stood up like a hero of Troy; and she speaks of her relationship fearlessly, never in excess. A true braveheart. |

Amisha Patel, US educated and south Mumbai bred, with sophistication at her disposal, still unafraid to share emotions – about her man and her family – with the world. That's what makes her a gal of true grit. Kareena Kapoor is one we love too much. Look at the guts on the gal. She's beautiful and bold and just breathtaking in her bravado. Kudos Bebo. No wonder she'll be an eternal favourite. And Ash of course. New age woman of the world. Not just her face, her grey cells are her fortune too. She's as fearless as they come. Earlier, it were just Smita, Shabana, Hema, Zeenat, Parveen, Sridevi and Rekha who were considered fearless'n'gutsy, while all the rest were the archetypal Indian actresses. Demure, diplomatic and devilish only on screen or away from prying eyes. But our modern divas are true Mata Haris – with hearts of Florence Nightingale and the attitudes of Apsaras – now you know why we dote on them? |
