Part 30

Aftermaths are always difficult to endure no matter how hard you prepare yourself for them. It is just yesterday night that they all had enjoyed dinner like one big hapy family and now it seemed that they were at war with each other.

Last night they had planned on meeting at the resort restrauant at 8 AM in the morning and have breakfast together. Too many heart breaks and confusions laced the air thick with suspense as all of them had their break fast.

In between Geet and Maan would sometimes look at each other when they thought nobody else was noticing. Once their eyes were locked and none of them could break the eye contact. Maan tried to find if Geet was hurt. He could not find any accusation in her eyes, just hurt and confusion and also something foreign.

Pari watched the duo watching each other. After her chat with Yash in the morning she was much more in control of herself. She realized that Geet's reaction was more of a heat of the moment thing than some thing malicious in her heart. Now noticing the behavior of these two she realized that what these two people had was deep. But more importantly what Maan sir and Geet had was private. May be that is why Geet didn't share it with her.

Today they were planning a site seeing tour mostly to the honor of Geet and Pari since it was their first visit to lonavla. They had their own car so it was not an issue. Teji chose to travel with Adi and Shasha saying he wanted to catch up with old friends. Dev and Naina were chatting out loudly with Pari piping in every now and then but Maan and Geet chose to be silent.

Geet realized that it had been quite foolish of her to get wet in the early morning rains. The rememberance of early morning brought along the memories of the morning with Maan; his heated gaze, his intense touch and the passionate dance... Geet turned scarlet just thinking about it.

Maan was no better. He was acutely aware of Geet sitting on the passenger seat and the encounter of this morning did not help his case at all. They stopped at the Valvan Dam. It was a beautiful spot which even made Geet come out of her brooden mood. The girls were enjoying and clicking photos posing differently. Maan however stayed silent and aloof. But he did take his chances in snapping pictures of Geet on his cellphone.

Geet had noticed Maan's aloofness. She was determined not to speak with Maan until she had solved her issues and sorted out her feelings. However she could not allow him to ruin his trip. Geet had heard from Naina about Maan never takinf time off from work. These two days were his much deserved holidays and Geet would never ruin it for him. Taking steps towards him she said softy ,almost inaudibly," Maan!"

Maan was not expecting Geet to talk to him.

Maan cleared his throat and said," yes Geet?"

Geet:" Why are you staying aloof from everyone?"

Maan:" Geet...umm.."

Geet:" Maan, I have heard Naina talk about you. You have taken leave after years and are actually visiting a place that was not related to some stupid work thing. Please don't ruin it."

Maan:" I am not ruining anything Geet."

Geet:" Yes you are. Is this...Is this about today morning?"

Maan:" I am sorry Geet. I should not have behaved the way I have behaved. I promised you not to let my feelings come between us and I have broken my promise."

Geet sighed. She did not know what to say. But least she wanted was to hurt another person of her life with her senseless anger.

She said softly," Maan, I don't hold you accountable. I was as equally responsible for those moments as you are. But I have wronged Armaan. I have cheated him in those moments."

Geet turned back to walk away when Maan held her hand and asked the question burning his entire being since morning.

Maan:" Geet, do you think it was a mistake?"

Geet was silent. She knew she did not think the morning as mistake. In fact in her heart it felt so right to share those moments with Maan.

Geet:" No Maan. It is not a mistake. It felt right. But it felt wrong too. I am confused and I need some time to sort out these things."

Maan just nodded. He did not want to make things more difficult for Geet. Geet sowly went and joined the other girls. She was still feeling guilty for hurting Pari. Watching Pari hurting inside pained her. However Geet did not get the chance to reach to Pari as they soon left for another spot.

Sonn they visited different spots in Lonavla Rajmachi Point, Ryewood Park & Shivaji Udyan, Lonavla Lake, Duke's Nose, Tiger's Leap, Karla caves etc. By the time they were back to the resort they all were completely worn out. Everybody was going to their respective rooms but Geet had other plans.

Walking to Pari's room she knocked the door tentatively. After getting a positive reply she entered inside. Geet had never been as nervous in her life as she felt right this moment. But she had wronged Pari and she had to apologize for making such hurtful comment.

Sitting down she looked at Pari eye to eye first time after the morning events. Pari also watched Geet.

Geet:"Pari, I can't even begin to say how bad I feel about the morning. That was way out of line of me to say. But Pari, trust me, I never wanted to hurt you. It was just that I was disturbed at that moment and I spoke something rash to stop you from pestering me. You are my friend for yourself Pari. I have never ever compared you to Meer. You and Meera both are awesome friends in your unique ways and I love you both for who you are. It was mean comment but... I am sorry Pari for hurting you. Please forgive me."

Pari who had long since had let go of her anger pulled Geet into a fierce hug. Two friends let go of their resentment, anguish and pain as they cried in each others arms. After what seemed like eternity they pulled out of the hug.

Pari:" I understand Geet."

Geet:" You are not angry anymore?"

Pari:" I was angry Geet. But then I had a chat with Yash and he kind of explained how it was an old habit of yours to hurt others and push them away when you don't want to be pestered. I understand you even if I don't like your approach."

Geet nodded her head an added shyly," Yes I can imagine Yash telling you all about it from the way I had shouted at him numerous times."

Pari and Geet talked about Yash and other random things for a long time. Then finally Pari asked what she wanted to ask.

Pari:" Geet, so do you think you will be ale to share things about this morning?"

Geet:" No Pari. For my entire life I have depended mostly on Armaan for sorting out my emotions. After Armaan...After Armaan passed away it was Meera. But it's high time I grow up. The important part of growing up is to be able to resolve your own issues. This time I want to do it on my own."

Pari:" I respect your wish Geet. But promise me you will reach out to any of us whenever you will need help."

Geet:" Of course Pari. One more thing Pari; you are just awesome as Parineeta Chopra so don't be insecured about anything. I am sure Yash loves you for yourself. You and Meera have such histories that maybe you can never really be friends but Pari; if you had known Meera she would have told you the same thing. As I said earlier, you and Meera are both awesome in your own unique ways."

Saying so, Geet bid Pari bye and left for her own room. On the way however she did not feel like going to that lonely room. Months in Mumbai had finally caught on to her. The solitude she craved previously had now turned to be loneliness.

She decided to take an evening stroll in the garden and was happily surprised finding Teji there. Teji called out to her and they started walking together.

Teji:" How are you Geetu?"

Geet:"Veerji, we were together the entire day."

Teji: "I did not mean it for today or yesterday. I am asking about how you have been. The last time I met you were a different person. You were in your eleventh standard and I was leaving for New York to get my MBA. You were a girl full of hopes, dreams and confidence to chase your dreams. And now, you look like a shadow of the person you used to be."

Geet:" You know Veerji about it."

Teji:" I know. Armaan... You miss him. If he was here today things really would have been different but Geetu he is not there anymore. You have to find new hopes and dreams."

Geet: "Is it so easy Veerji? I had an entire life planned with him. I didn't just lose my love I lost my entire future life with him."

Even as Geet said she remembered the old times. It was one of the days the entire gang had planned a picnic. They got some food packed and went for a picnic at a spot near to their college. Meera and Yash along with Sid were bickering about random topics while Geet and Armaan were simply enjoying their arguments.

Suddenly Armaan asked Geet," Geet, have you ever dreamt of the future?"

Geet:" What future are we talking about here?"

Armaan:" Future in general. Don't you dream of it?"

Geet shied. She did have dreams of them being together.

Armaan:" Come on sweety, why are you turning scarlet? This is the same Armaan you shared your most embarrassing stories with. Tell me your dreams so I can make them real."

Geet started describing about her hopes, her dreams and basically how she had imagined their life together. Her dreamy eyes made it impossible for Armaan to remove his eyes. Kissing her fore head he whispered softly," Someday all your dreams will be the reality of your life and that day Geet I will be the happiest man in the world."

Soon Meera, Sid and Yash joined them and pestered Armaan to sing a song. May be the discussions with Geet made Armaan imagine a life together as well; so he begun singing out to Geet...

Geet blushed but felt her heart strings being tugged. It was as if Armaan through the song was making her imaginations come alive... she turned her head to avoid making an eye contact. For some reason Geet was being incredibly shy about it...

Every body hooted as Geet silently admonished him for talking about dying even in a song. Armaan smiled his typical heart melting smile while Yash said," Come on Geet join him. This song would be incomplete without you." Geet bent her head down but suddenly Armaan pulled her up and started ball dancing with her. And suddenly there was no one but him and her...

Everybody hooted as a shy Geet hid herself in Armaan's embrace.

Geet cried at the rememberance of the beautiful past. Tears rolled down as she held Teji's hand for support. Wiping away her tears geet said softly, "Veerji, I don't think I have it in me to dream again. That flight crash just didn't kill Armaan. I died right with him."

Teji:" Geetu! Don't talk like that. You are my only family. I can't imagine losing you."

Geet:" I am sorry Veerji. But my hopes and dreams just died with him."

Teji shook his head. He knew that Maan loved his sister to the core but won't be acting on it for some stupid promise he made to Geet. But the fact is true that Maan is the best partner for Geet at this juncture. Seven years of age difference is kind of ridiculous in today's world but then age is just a number in matters of heart. He had promised Maan he won't pressurize Geet but that does not mean he cannot offer some brotherly advice.

Looking at Geet he softly said," Yes your dreams were broken and you had lost an important part of yourself in the bargain. But Geet, truth is and will be that you are still alive. I know moving on is not easy but it is not wrong to take second chances. The life you dreamt of might be much closer than you expect."

Geet:" Then why does it feel wrong to take a chance? Why does it feel like I am cheating Armaan in those moments?"

Teji:" You are not cheating Armaan Geet. Cheating Armaan would be true if he was there and you were getting involved with someone else. But Armaan is no more. Yesterday you told me how Meer and Sid are dating. Now tell me, do you think it is wrong for Meera to take the second chance?"

Geet:" No absolutely not. But that is different."

Teji:" How is it different Geet? Yash broke up with Meera and Armaan passed away. But at the end they left you alone. So if it is right for Meera to take the second chance then why is it wrong for you to take the chance?"

Geet was speechless. Teji had hit the nail in the right place. If it is okay for Meera to have a second chance at love why is it not for her?

Teji said softly," Decision lies with you Geet but here is a piece of advice from an older brother. It is better to take a chance and regret rather than not taking the chance and spending the entire life thinking about what ifs! "

Geet so confused

Oh my goodness everybody is a shade of grey... this really confuses me. I know no one's perfect, but still this phrase scares me for some reason. Thanks for the clarification about yash, that was 's much needed. And i will stop thinking about maaneet's meeting 😉. Hey ek aur sawal, if everyone's a shade of grey... what about geet! Are we to expect something about her... you know what i mean, like some secret 😲. why do i feel i'm not making any sense 😳

I really liked the scene where Geet goes to Maan n asked him to enjoy his holidays. Despite being confused and in emotional turmoil herself, she had the knowledge of what he must be going through. Her care n concern for him touched me. And also m glad she cleared to him that the morning spend with him wasnt a mistake but she is simply confused about her own feelings. At least this wont be making him feel miserable about the whole thing.

Geet-Pari conversation was really sweet. Like any other friends having a small argument or fight n then later sorting it out by sitting n talking it out. Guilty Geet apologizing n an understand Pari forgiving. But of course loved how Geet was straightforward about the morning issue n said wanna sort her confusion n feeling herself without taking anyone's help. That small growing up n trying to be independent emotionally was described wonderfully.

Best part definitely has to be Teji-Geet's conversation. Geet sharing that she had planned a whole future with Armaan was quite surprising. May be cos i really never thought that they would have gone that far in their relationship when they were simply growing n still learning. That flashback was so heart warming, it brought a smile on my face. Armaan-Geet's relationship was truly so sacred n pure without they actually being tied or married. Having so many dreams n hopes and a wish for lifetime of togetherness. No wonder it is so hard for Geet to let go. Its simply wont be so easy. But i also liked how Teji gave his small but very important advice that everyone deserves a second chance n its not a sin. He made her see the difference b/w cheating and taking a chance when one person is no more. And of course she had a living example in front of her in the form of Meera's story. Now it wont be that difficult for Geet to clear her confusion n feelings. I simply loved this update. It made me feel i over reacted in last update.
