Salman Khan Helps Keep 2014 Box Office Afloat

Salman Khan-starrers Kick and Jai Ho helped signifacantly boost Bollywood's 2014 box-office numbers. According to a report from boxofficeindia.com, Bollywood's total cumulative box-office net till the second week of September stood at Rs. 1,775 crore. Last year, the total cumulative figure for Bollywood stood at Rs. 1975 crore in the first three quarters.
The report notes that the gap of Rs. 200 crore will narrow down after the recent releases like Daawat E Ishq and Khoobsurat and the releases next week.
So far this year, Salman Khan's Kick has so far been the biggest grosser of the year, collecting an estimated over Rs. 200 crore net and giving a boost to Bollywood's 2014 box office numbers. Salman Khan's other release this year, Jai Ho, also made a business of over Rs. 100 crore, according to estimates.
Other releases of this year such as Singham Returns, Ek Villain, Holiday and 2 States also grossed over 100 crore at the domestic box office, helping boost the 2014 overall box-office figures. (With Agency Inputs)
