Acceptance

"Please God tell me what to do??"
"Marrying is a big decision and after marriage I will be away from mom. I don't want to leave mom."
Tara was praying in her mind, closing her eyes to see a single reason why she should marry Mrityunjay.

"Your decision is the final decision Tara. I am not forcing you and don't ever think that rejecting this proposal will affect our friendship."
The more she listened to Mrityunjay, the more confused she got.

"Marry him, Tara. You just now saw mom's lit up face on hearing this proposal, and this is her last wish too. Don't you want to fulfil her last wish??"
"He is your friend Tara. At least you know him. He wants to marry for his Dadaji. Don't you love Dadaji?? Tara this marriage will give happiness to two people who you and Mrityunjay love. It will give satisfaction to two people and it's for mutual benefit." Her inner self was convincing her.

Seeing Tara sitting quietly, Mrityunjay understood it's a NO.
"Ok, I think I should leave." He started walking towards the reception. He was quite disappointed. He was ready for this, but what will he say to Dadaji, his only family? That he is not able to fulfil his last wish.

"I am ready."
A voice reached his ears, cutting through the complete silence of the corridor. He turned to see. Did his wish get granted?? Or is he hallucinating it, as this was the only line that he wanted to hear right now.

"Mrityunjay, I am ready for this marriage."
He heard correctly, he was not hallucinating. She was standing near Aradhana's ward facing him, arms crossed over her chest.

He quickly walked to her. "Thank you Tara...I am...Thank you..."
"Mrityunjay, I am accepting it because of our mutual benefit ...for your Dadaji and for my mom's wish"
"I know Tara."

"Mrityunjay, one more thing..." She stopped.
"Yes Tara... say what you want to say..." He was quite unsure what she will say.

"I want to keep this wedding simple...no wedding celebrations." He understood her uneasiness with this marriage.
"Ok Tara...I think court marriage will be fine."
"Yes."

They went into Aradhana's room and announced Tara's agreement to the proposal and took her blessing. Her eyes were wet. She never dreamt her wish could be fulfilled in this way. She was thanking God for answering her prayer.

"Tara I should leave now. I will visit the court tomorrow." Tara nodded her head in yes.

Aradhana got worried at the mention of court. "Why court? What happened?? Is everything fine??"

Tara caressed her. "Mom, don't panic ...everything is fine. Mrityunjay and I decided to keep this wedding simple, so we will have a court marriage." Mrityunjay nodded in yes.

"But Tara, the wedding is a girl's dream. A dream which she sees from her childhood that it will be like this and like that ...and you...you want court marriage?"

"Mom, a wedding is a wedding whether it takes place in a full-fledged hall of guests or in a registrar office. It doesn't make a difference as long as there are blessings of elders with us."

"But Tara..."
"Oh...Mom...let's do this my way." She hugged her.
Mrityunjay was watching mother-daughter talk as a quiet spectator.
"Ok. Your way, but at least see off Mrityunjay."

Mrityunjay hugged Aradhana. They moved quietly outside the ward.
"Ok, then I will inform you as soon as I get the date."
"Yes."

Mrityunjay walked out of the hospital.
Tara was standing there seeing him leaving. She was trying to recover from this sudden proposal of marriage.

She walked to Aradhana lost in her thoughts.
"Marriage ...I never thought I would ever marry ...and getting married to a man who I met a month ago...Marriage..."

Aradhana saw her daughter lost in her thoughts. She understood like all girls her daughter is also confused.
"Tara, come dear ...sit near me."

She sat and slowly leaned her head in her mother's lap, where she used to get rid of all worries, but today that safest place was not giving her peace.

"Tara," Aradhana caressed Tara's hair. "Child, I know what you are going through ...I can understand...But this is the best thing in life ...marriage. I am happy for you."

"Fast ...Dr. Fahim ...fast he has reached the lawn..." Dadaji exclaimed as he saw Mrityunjay coming.
"Dadaji...dadaji..." Mrityunjay came running to his room.
"Dadaji...Tara is ready for marriage. I will fulfil your wish." He hugged him.
Dadaji smiled. "Thank you my son." He kissed him on his forehead.

Dr. Fahim and others smiled on the success of their mission.
"Mrityunjay you should leave Dadaji, he will recover soon. I hope by next morning he will be restored to health." Mrityunjay left the room after hearing Dr. Fahim's assurance.

As soon as Mrityunjay left the room, Dr. Fahim said, "You are a genius Uncle, you did it." And hugged Dadaji.

"Hahaha...I am his dad's dad...his Dada, I have to succeed."

"This marriage and Tara's entry in Mrityunjay's life will bring color to his life and to this house. After a gap of 20 years this house will live again." Dadaji was feeling as the happiest person on Earth. After the death of his son and daughter-in-law, this house had became an empty mansion, where the sign of life was negligible and last year's mishap destroyed whatever remained of it. Tara's entry will give a new life to this mansion.

Today Tara didn't go home. Her mind was fighting a war of thoughts. Thoughts of marriage, what she will be after marriage, what will be her future, how she will take care of Aradhana, marrying into such a big house, and many more thoughts were pondering in her mind. She slept sitting near Aradhana, keeping her head on Aradhana's hand.

In his room, Mrityunjay was standing near the balcony looking outside, but he was not able to see anything. His eyes were open but the innumerable thoughts bombarding his mind were not making anything visible to him.

Yipee...Nainital...my lovelies are marrying, thanks to you, where they met, where they understood each other. You nursed them, restored them, and now they are ready to start a new phase in life. I am looking forward to a happy married life.
