When the serial Kasamh Se started, one of the characters that made an impact was that of Jigyaasa.
This negative character, played by Ashwini Kalsekar, became quite popular in a short span of time. Suddenly a few months down the line, Ashwini decided to quit Kasamh Se and Jaya Bhattacharya replaced her.
But recently there was another sudden change. Jaya was dropped from the show, almost overnight. And Ashwini is back in the serial. BT spoke to this original Jigyaasa about her return...
So you are back on Kasamh Se ...
Yes, I have returned.
What prompted the return? Did you send feelers or did they approach you?
It was evident that I was missing Jigyaasa and I guess they were also missing me. Actually how it really happened I still don't know. Things just fell into place.
Apparently Jaya Bhattacharya wasn't informed well in advance about being dropped....
Well, I would not know because I wasn't a part of the production when it happened. I don't know what happened exactly. Yes, as an actress, I did approach Jaya and asked for her permission.
Her permission to play the role?
Yes. Earlier when she was to play Jigyaasa she had spoken to me about it. Jaya is a dear friend. Actually, I'm in awe of Jaya's performance because she is one of those who actually first made the vamp on TV so popular.
What was it like when you returned on the sets?
I had a grand welcome by my brother Ram (Kapoor), who's my onscreen brother and off screen too. I tie him a rakhi. Prachi Desai (who plays Bani) was also thrilled. On screen she and I fight a lot, but in real life we get along very well
