I know, you are all upset and want to say something or other in the next 8 days. Now is my turn to say few words before the show ends on 19/09/2014.
People normally learn from their mistakes and get better. Oh boy, here we managed to make more mistakes and messed up a beautiful show Rangrasiya.
We got a better concept, better story, talented cast, and crew. 6 months and about 130 episodes later all hell broke loose. I experienced this feeling when watching IPK, but it is harder and faster this time.
Now I cannot invest my energy and enthusiasm in any other show so easily - I forgot about my experience with IPK and got attached to Rangrasiya - serves me right.
So, this is it. I pledged my support to Sanish until the end of the show and I will keep my promise. Thanks to all who read my posts and responded to them. It is time for me to hibernate from Indian soap land.
Before leaving, I want to say few words about RR.
Points I liked and disliked in Rangrasiya 1.0
1. Sanaya - What a beautiful actress? She is one of those forever young girls. As Paro, she looked like a porcelain doll in her early 20s. In all the wedding ritual episodes she was stunning. The wedding day look (in Beige colour) was the best. She is a wonderful actress and can emote in any situation with ease. She brought Paro to life.
2. Ashish - He is handsome and he is a talented. Ashish and Sanaya made a perfect on screen couple. I did not watch any of his previous shows. He surpassed all my expectations in portraying Rudra. He was spot on with his acting and dialogue delivery. His wardrobe in RR has variety and he looked good in all those outfits. He also looked handsome in his White and Blue wedding attire.
3. Supporting cast - Most of them are good and effortlessly filled the shoes of the characters they played.
4. Character Shantanu needs a special mention here. His entry wasn't impactful at all. His character did not fit for a villain who ended up killing Paro and in turn our emotions, that too without warning! I was completely annoyed with him and that track. He was neither menacing nor creepy. What was he? I am not against tragic stories. In fact, I signed up for an Othello story. What we got at the end is a total mess.
5. Mohini's involvement in getting Mala out of the Haveli, her involvement in trying to kill Dilsher, Rudra & Paro and her involvement in the acid attack were never exposed. They were not minor. They were defining moments for the story. Why were they swept under the carpet? Or, are they planning to reveal on the last day of the show?
6. I still cannot fathom the treatment given to a military profession on various occasions.
7. What happened to the security Rudra arranged just before Mehendi ceremony? Where were those guards
When Laila mixed poison in the turmeric paste and applied it on Paro on Haldi day
When Devyani set Dilsher's room on fire and escaped on Wedding day
When workers were trying to douse the fire in Dilsher's room
When Paro was manipulated in to going to the Pandal alone
As per Rudra's statement, they were brought in to guard the house and Paro 24hours a day until the wedding and they miserably failed in both.
8. Some members did not like a crying Rudra. But, it looked fine to me when Rudra cried, because, I was sympathising with his troubled childhood.
9. Some of us said there was no growth in Paro's characterisation. She became a mere cook and nanny. Personally, I liked innovative Paro at Mami's place. Ignore the logic and she at least tried to make Mami's life easier after her wedding. I liked tigress Paro whenever she challenged and confronted Rudra. Don't forget the daredevil Paro, who hit Rudra, Tejawat and goons. She spoke her mind. She thought with heart. She took quick decisions which were successful most of the time.
10. If Paro had to be killed, then what was the point of "Mein, Tu, Hamesha," asking for Paro as a precious gift before blowing the candles, "I will never leave your hand" dialogue at the Railway station?
11. Why did they have to insert an intimate sequence between Paro and Rudra in the middle of nowhere, just 6 episodes before killing Paro and starting Rangrasiya 2.0?
12. What was the need to attach Shantanu's head on someone else's torso, if it was in the original story?
As for me, Rangrasiya will go down in the history as "How to ruin a beautiful story in 101 different ways"
I admit it was a beautiful show in the first 6 months, which made me stop watching everything else. I thank everyone, who created that magic in the first 6 months. Who do I blame for the giant drop in the next 3 months? It certainly can't be me, because, I simply loved the show and still watching for the sake of the actors. It certainly can't be the actors, who are sailing in a sinking boat and still giving their 200%.
I loved all the signature tunes, most of the BG scores, songs solely written for RR, and songs selected from Bollywood movies. When I listen to Har kisi Ko, Teri Galiyan, Zindagi Mein Koi Kabhi or Saiyaara I visualise Rudra and Paro, not the actors who originally featured in those songs. They are playing on my PC right now.
I myself said that, give Rudra a happy ending because he suffered a lot and give Myrah a happy ending too if she is in the same boat, without butchering their characters. What did we get at the end? - Plain and simple, butchering.
So, points I dislike in Rangrasiya 2.0
A. I do not understand why, Myrah is interfering too much in Ranawats' matters. She met those strangers three weeks ago for goodness sake!
B. Why does Myrah roam around in Ranawat mansion in night suits day and night?
C. Why does she address half the Ranawat clan with their first names and the other half as kaka, kaki and jija? She is addressing them just like Paro.
D. An adoption agency just gives a baby up for adoption without checking the details of the family? Word of a billionaire NRI is enough for them? Oh really? By the way, I noticed MBA on adoption papers. Is it a qualification and if it is a qualification, then who got MBA in that family or is it Myrah's qualification?
E. Why did Rudra and Rohit have to share the bed? Two grown men who, just met, not only shared the bed, but also comforter/Quilt/Bedspread. Now they went a bit ahead and sleeping in a taekwondo pose. Are they playing ASR and KKGSR?
F. I thought Myrah is here to get married in 10 days. But 20 days are already gone and there is no indication of a wedding in the near future. Myrah madam, please stop acting miss goody two shoes and concentrate on your wedding, will you?
G. Let us assume all the wedding arrangements are done
Catering is organised - caterer is Satabdi who can only make pickle as far as we can see
Wedding venue is decided - Ranawat mansion, but who gave permission?
Invitations are gone - via new age video messaging system
Wedding outfits are selected - tacky Lehengas (village belle Paro wore 6 different and beautiful outfits during her forced almost wedding with Rudra). This billionaire NRI bought couple of Lehengas from a street vendor. This reminds me a certain billionaire business tycoon's girlfriend, who picked her engagement outfits from the shelves of a boutique. Can't they afford a Manish Malhotra or a Sabyasachi?
But the million dollar question is, are they getting married? Don't ask me who, all three look like a bunch of confused souls who are in a state of denial.
H. The final nail in the coffin is Rudra falling for Myrah
I. I am not sure at the end who falls for who, who rejects who and who marries who, but if this goes on, I will definitely become a confused soul myself.
J. Do I need to say more?
I am trying to write everything in one post. Thanks for reading this far.
I would like to sign off by wishing AS2I and my dear IF members all the best in whatever they/you do in future.
Take care
Cheers...
