Part 36
Arnav exited the bathroom and softly closed the bathroom door behind him. Running his fingers in his damp hair, he looked at the bed. Her beautiful moonlike face glowing in the amber light. Even in fever, she manages to look more beautiful than ever. He let out a loud sigh. Only if she leaves her stubbornness aside and listens to him. For now she is attracted towards him, but what after that. What will happen when she grows out of attraction? It's normal at her age to feel this way.
His palm fisted tightly as the thought of her feeling this way for some other man crossed his mind.
What if it's really an attraction and once finished with this madness, her love evaporates in a thin air? What will they do then? What will he do then?
Swallowing hard, he threw the towel on the recliner and got into the bed. Laying beside her, he probed on his elbow and stared at her dear face.
She loves him? Does she really loves him? What harm will it do if he agrees to her? There will be no harm. They are husband and wife, it's not like he is misleading an innocent teenager. She is his wife. Even if it's not love, he is ready to live in this delusion all his life if she remains the same. The same girl who looks lost without him, who waits for his arrival with eager eyes, who giggles at him after cracking her own joke, who hugs the life out of him, who smiles a mysterious smile at him as if she knows all his secrets, who cuddles Abeer close to her and the shine in her eyes promises her Son that she will make his father love him, the soothing words she whispers cuddling close to him as she thinks he is asleep, her soft fingers that run in his hair and makes him forget all his worries, her life whisking innocent kisses, her chiming sound of payal, each and everything about her.
Lying flat on the bed, he took her in his arms. He will live with all these, as long as she doesn't share all these, specially reserved things, with anyone else.
"Why don't you love me, Arnav ji?" her voice cracked, sobs left her mouth.
Arnav looked down at her, his panicked eyes lingered on her drench face. He lifted his hand to rest it against her face.
"Khushi ..."
"Everyone loves me ... why don't you ..." Sobs left her mouth , tears continued to escape through her closed eyelids.
Arnav's other hand circled around her waist as he pulled her in his embrace.
"Khushi ..open your eyes... stop thinking about all that... open your eyes ..." He caressed her hair, his chest pained seeing her sobbing softly.
"Arnav ji, doesn't believes me ... He doe...sn't ... He ..." She murmured between her sobs. Her fingers curled around the neck of his T-shirt as she tried to bury her frame into his warmth.
Arnav cradled her small frame against him, his hands tightened around her waist. He rested his chin against her silky hair as he whispered.
"Shhh... Everyone loves you ... Everyone ... Stop thinking about all this ... You are making yourself sick ... Please stop thinking ... "
Her every sob twisted like a sharp knife in his heart. He dropped soft kisses on her hair as he whispered soothing words to her. But her sobs refused to die, fat tears poured down her cheek, wetting her pale cheek. Arnav shifted little back and cupped her face between his palms, her eyes close, lips trembling, and tears pouring out on her cheek.
Dipping his head down, he suctioned his lips with her. He felt her soft lips against his, trembling. He caught her lips between his, nibbling softly, drinking her sobs.
"Shhh...shhh...Khushi ... I am there... open your eyes ..." He whispered against her lips, his hot breathe fanning her lips. He again pressed his lips against her. His hand slipped behind her waist as they both lay allied to each other. Their lips remained fuzzed together, knees touching; his hand caressed her back, trying to sooth her mental pain away.
Khushi's hand circled around his waist, locking her hand at his back, too afraid to leave him.
Arnav sensed her desperation to be near him. Leaving a soft kiss on her lips, he moved his face back and stared at her face. The sobbing has mellowed down to small hiccups. She looked just like a lost child, a little child, too afraid, afraid of her love being not reciprocated. His mind went back to the reason of their marriage. Not his, but her. She married him for her Buaji. She is a loved and a cherished child of her Buaji. Alagan, though he don't like that guy, but can't deny the special care with which he treats her, and how can he forget his confession. Abeer loves her, Nani loves her, Mami lover her, NK loves her. She loves everyone, showers them with her innocent and pure love and expect the same in return.
She thinks she loves him. Not like a family, but like a lover. She wants the same love in return. His rebuffing her love is bothering her. Bothering her to the extent that she can't stop herself from mediating on the same even in her sleep.
"Khushi .." he called softly, a voice that held world of tenderness.
Khushi hiccupped. Her mind still muddled, not allowing her to form any coherent thought. She blinked her tears away, as her damp eyes opened.
Arnav smiled at the cute, confused face she made.
"Khushi..."
"Arnav ji..?"
He took her in his arms, treasuring her close to his heart.
"Shhh... Everyone loves you... stop thinking ... we will discuss this tomorrow, ok? Now sleep. You need rest ... sleep.." he patted her head lulling her to sleep.
"Hmm... ... tomorrow ... I lo...ve you ..." Was her last murmur as she gave into her tiredness and mental fatigue.
