The importance of good communication....

After the messages from ST's dad and ST himself the whole perspective on how the events have unfolded changes (atleast for me).

Though ST is not completely clean..he made some huge mistakes with the choice of tracks and killing off Paro etc...I think somewhere he was not able to manage the political interpersonal problems with Colors and pressure from the channel. Plus the trp was also not on his side. It can be quite difficult when you have to see your dream project dying a slow death. In this case Colors choked it to death..slowly that too.
I think may be if we give him the benefit of doubt he may have been slightly helpless himself. Finally it all comes down to money and numbers in the media world..in any business world for that matter.

But the problem that I have is that Indian media should learn to address their audience ..their customers well. I dont know if they think that we audience are emotional and irrational and will not understand the practical problems of the real media world. We do because we also work in a corporate environment and we understand how things happen. We are very clear about the distinction between the real and the reel world. We know that the actors are not the characters they play and that the making of a show involves a whole lot of complexities than what we see on screen..we are aware of the problems involved and will of course empathize and support.

Having said all this I think ST and his team should have commuicated with the customers/audience a little more than what they did. I know they cannot and should not tell everything going on inside. But somewhere a statement like "the PH & channel are in discussion on this issue" could have also sufficed. This would not have lead to so much anger from the audience. ST's silence kind of rubbed the wrong way and gave a message that the PH does not care and has no regard for their customers just because they are not trp audience (it may still be the case, But since we are giving him the benefit of doubt here...)
And to top that Mukta Suchislife Dhond with her foolish arrogance completely ruined it.
Even with Paro's death he kept silent leaving SUCHISLIFE to mishandle. One nice statement would have made the difference. Remember customers dont like to feel cheated or disrespected. ..whatever be the commodity they are buying.

ST and his team should learn to communicate well. Its very important. Communicating with your customers is very important.
He should learn how to communicate from Ashish and Sanaya. Both have a distinct style that is extremely effective.
Ashish understands the pulse of the fans/audience and manages to touch the right cord always. It shows that he has made an effort and has regard.
Sanaya is not active in the virtual world but whenever she gives an interview her forthright talk and genuineness clearly endears her to the audience/fans.
Both of them know when to say what. They know when to maintain silence and how to say something yet not let out the main issue. It comes across in Ashish's tweets & interviews and Sanaya's interviews.
Their communication style clearly gives out their attitude. Plus their biggest asset is their humility...

I know communicating with the audience would not have resolved the problems ST had with the channel or saved RR. Thats a different issue all together. But when the sudience has a vague sense of whats going on three things happen
1. They are easy to manage..you dont get bombarded with negative tweets that only add to all the negativity around
2. There is a sense of satisfaction that the people to whom I cater are well served, hence you earn their respect. (If its important of course)
3. The audience begins to feel respected and will inturn respects and regards all your future work...in the long run its a win-win

Ok sorry for the long one..thanks for reading so much...

Hey,
That is a really wonderful way of putting things into perspective, analyzing closely! In the end, it is a business and they could have been cordial like you mention, so as to deserve loyalty!

I think the fans are definitely disappointed and things could have been handled graciously, rather than having things end at a bad, bitter note!

Lovely post suneeta
Very informative
But am sorry none of these points will be adhered to. I cant see it happening in the near future. This is not the first time this is happening. Agree only if the PH and their team has been a bot more cordial with fans things could have turned out better. But nothing of that sort happened. I dont know whom to blame. I just dont really care now. Am just hoping ST and team at least make the efforts now to give us back Paro and keep the loyal audiences happy. It is not too late.

Very true..the system will take a few generations to change i guess.

But if I were in ST's place I would focus on completing RR with dignity. Giving the fans PARUD back. And then when all is over, I would take a vacation alone and introspect.
Come back with a new frame of (wise) mind..and start all over again with SANISH 😃😃😉😉

Its difficult to change the culture and system in the media..
But we hope ST will introspect and realize...

I wouldn't blame them entirely, given a faulty system is being implemented and nothing seems to be working to get rid of it! It is sad that wonderful projects get stuck and then the show makers are disheartened and well, the fans of course being emotionally dragged through are the worst sufferers!
Yup, agree - 100% there are so many things one could learn from this venture!
