After getting response from you guys I have decided that I will not change the heading to FF for now and choose the one I feel will be a better story. Now if it becomes a ff I won't stop or shorten but I won't drag either to forcefully make it a FF. In other words I would just write on and see if it remains SS or turns into FF. And even if the story gets longer than what I had initially planned I won't shorten the length of updates or delay them without genuine reason.
Part 25
Two weeks passed by Geet working hard, chatting with friends and just simply working. It was fun to work with all these people and learn so many new things. Aditya Malhotra, the finance department head was an amazing person. He taught them the many aspects of financing and Geet felt priviledge to be working with people like them.
The project was a construction project and so she had a regular interaction with Shasha. Shalini or Shasha as they call her was an enigma. It looked like she held secrets and her eyes had seen the world. Ofcourse they have since she was much senior to her.But something about Shasha madeher uncomfortable yet secured at the same time.
Also they all are going to visit lonavla. But she had her own premonitions. Something is going to be horribly wrong. Geet could not put a finger on what exactly is wrong but her heart was not agreeing with her mind.
It was Thursday evening and most of her work for the day was done yet she was trying to hide herself in her desk fighting her inner battle. That was how shasha found Geet.
Coming near her seat Shasha said in her super elegant voice," Hey Geet, what happened? You here alone?"
Geet:" Oh Shasha, nothing much."
Shasha:" Something is not right. You think you can share it with me?"
Geet:" I don't know Shasha. I mean it is incredibly sweet for you to ask me that. But I am not a person who can share easily."
Shasha sighed deeply. She can see why Maan liked this girl in the first place. She has an air of melancholia and mystry surrounding her and Maan loves exploring the unknown.
Shasha:" Okay just tell me at least this much, do you know what is bothering you?"
Geet looked up. She could have said any number of answers but she chose the truth.
Geet:"No Shasha. I don't know."
Shasha:" Hmm...just as I thought. So how about two not so much of a friend aquantances go out and spent time together?? You don't have to share but maybe spending some time away from the problem would help??"
Geet nodded. Anyway she does not have anything to do. She left a text to both Pari and Naina that she will be late. Both the ladies came out.
Geet:" So, Shasha, where are we going?"
Shasha:" Umm, do you have any particular place in mind?"
Geet:" Nope. Do you have any idea?"
Shasha:" We can go to the Palladium Mall in lower Parel. It is anawesome place. We can do some window shopping, enjoy a cup of coffee and maybe grab a bite if we get hungry."
Geet:" I haven't visited there. I heard it's a beautiful one."
Shasha:"Come let's go then."
Both the girls went to the mall. On the way Shasha observed Geet minutely. It was strange that this girl had suffered so much. Naina had told her about Geet's past lover's death. Shasha's heart went out for Geet. She was too young to be suffering so much.
Once in the mall they started exploring. Geet was in awe of the beauty of the mall. She figured that this was a place for rich elites. Both of them sat down at the coffee shop and then Shasha said softly,"You know Geet, when Maan had told me about you the first time I was worried for him. You see Maan had never been close to a girl let alone like one. So I had this protective feeling for him."
Geet:" You knew about Maan's feelings for me? Since before or after the party?"
Shasha smiled. Geet was seriously not to be fooled around easily.
Shasha:"Oh Geet, I knew before the party."
Geet:"Everything was a setup right? Me arranging the party and then getting invited... Even I had a dress arranged. Oh God he fooled me! I am going to have a real big talk with him over this."
Shasha:"Getting you to the party was not a set up Geet. He indeed had a serious problem due to his secratory suddenly being ill. But him calling you was a dead give away of his feelings.He seeked your help when he was facing problems. Yes I gave him the idea of meeting at the party after I heard you are preparing the party hall and stuffs. I wanted to meet you Geet. I wanted to see the woman who had finally stolen Maan's heart."
Geet:" Hmm."
Shasha:" Don't be mad at him Geet. He was not at fault."
Geet:" Why were you so keen on meeting me?"
Shasha took another deep breath. She said softly," I wanted to see what you have that I didn't. I had loved Maan from a time I did not know what Love was. He was my first love you see. I had been beside him on all his ups and downs. But of course I was always just his best friend; nothing more. But somewhere over the years I realized that I will never be anything more than a frined to him. So I moved on. But you see human heart works in a strange way. When he told me about you I was instantly jealous. I confess it was petty of me but still I wanted to see what you have that I didn't."
Geet:" Umm...I don't know what to say. I don't love him Shasha. I think of him as a close friend, someone who could fill up the void in my heart a bit. But love...no, I have loved only one man ever and his name is Armaan."
Shasha smiled a bit. Then said softly," I heard about that from Naina. Don't be mad at her. She was overwhelemed with your pain. She is such a soft person at heart she cried to me for you. I am sorry for your loss. Geet, it is really unfair that someone as young as you had to suffer so much."
Geet:" That was fate Shasha. "
Even as Geet said the words she didn't truly believe her eyes got teary. To stear away the conversation from her past Geet said softly," So you said you moved on. Sounds like a love story. Do you want to share?"
Shasha smiled softly. Her face turned soft at the rememberance of the love of her life, her friend, her Husband. She said," It's a boring story. Do you want to know?"
Geet:"Come on you know about me. It is only fair if I know about you too."
Shasha:" It is nothing. See Maan, me and my husband were all together in school. When I was head over heels for Maan I never noticed the amazing person who used to always provide me with a shoulder to cry on. It was once by accident that I read through his diary that I came to know how much he loves me. You know Geet, the first few months of my marriage had been all about friendship. He knew I was still not in love with him and he waited. Then slowly I started falling for him, the amazing person that he is. And now I cannot imagine a life without him and the little bundle of joy we created together."
Geet:" Wow, that is magical you know. "
Shasha:" See, here's the pic of us. This was just taken after I came home from nursing home with prachi."
Geet watched the picture and immediately looked up and said," You are married to Aditya Malhotra, the head of finance department?"
Shasha:" Oh, I guess I forgot to mention. Maan, Adi and I had been friends for so many years now. This picture was clicked by Maan. And trust me, Maan is spoiling my daughter rotten."
Geet:" Knowing Maan I have no problem imagining him being adorable with kids. "
Shasha:" You seem to understand Maan so much even in just few days."
Geet smiled and said," Well sometimes we meet people we click instantly with.So tell me, does Maan know about your feelings?"
Shasha:" No Geet he does not know about my feelings. When it had mattered I never got the courage and now those feelings don't matter. I am happy with Adi and I can't even imagine a day without them."
It was quiet late and they came out of the mall. Shasha said,"Adi is coming to pick me up. So we are going to drop you back at your hostel."
Geet was about to protest when Shasha rolled her eyes and said," Don't even think about it. Even if you win the argument with me Adi will still drop you."
Soon Adi was there and both just got in. Adi smiled and said," Shalu I did not know you are going out with Geet."
Shasha:" It was an instant plan. "
Adi:" I hope Geet you did not get bored."
Shasha:" Adi, you are treading in a dangerous territory."
Geet smiled.They were a cute couple. Somehow even while they were fighting it seemed they were saying I love you.'
Adi dropped her outside and Shasha came out to bid her goodbye. A question was bothering her so she asked," Shasha you wanted to see why Maan fell in love with me. Did you find that out?"
Shasha smiled and said softly," Geet Maan fell in love with you because you are you. You are an amazing person who anybody can fall in love with. But the reason that makes you unique is that you have something that Maan needs the most at this moment. And I am sure Maan will never let it get away from him."
Geet:" What is that?"
Shasha:" Someday when this question has lost its importance I will give you the reply. I must not open my mouth till this question has any value."
Geet:" That went above my head. What do you mean Shasha?"
Shasha:" Not today Geet. Someday I will answer but right now I need to get back to that little monster in my house who I suspect is upto no good."
Shasha left leaving Geet in pools of questions. She entered her room to find Pari and Naina jumping round and packing for their Lonavla trip tomorrow. Geet, Pari, Naina, Maan, Dev, Adi, Saasha and little Prachi will be going for the trip. Geet was little apprehensive about Shasha but after the evening Geet had a feeling someday she and Shasha will be best of friends.
Naina:" Oh Geet, you are here...come on now start packing."
Geet sat down and mumbled," Why do I feel this trip is a bad idea for me?"
Pari:" Geet, what do you mean?"
Geet:" I don't know Pari. I am being afraid of something and I don't even know what."
Naina noticed Geet's tensed face and said softly," Geet, you know everyone who is going with us. I and Pari will be there. You know Maan Veerji well enough and even Dev. Are you worried about Shasha coming?"
Geet:" I was but today I spent some qulity time with Shasha. She is a nice person though a little aura of mystry surrounds her. But it is like something is telling me my life will change in this trip."
Pari:" Come on Geet, this is fun. We deserve it after our hard workof last two weeks.Are you afraid Meera might be angry that you are going with me?"
Geet looked at her alarmed and said," No Pari.Meer is not like that. She was mad at me because I hid things from her. But now we are cool. She in fact told me to go and enjoy. "
Pari:" I did not mean it like that. From what I have heard from Yash Meera is a really sweet person. I am just trying to find the reason of your demeanor."
Geet:" I really don't know the reason Pari."
Naina:" So start packing. Or I will kidnap you without you having packed."
Geet:" For a person who does not want to be a princess you can give orders really well your highness!"
Naina:" GEEET!!"
And all three started running around trying to pack and pull legs of each other. Laughing with them Geet felt her all tensions subside. Maybe she was seeing too much into things.
