Hrithik Roshan has spoken about his decision to opt out of Shuddhi.

The actor was originally cast in the film with Kareena Kapoor, who subsequently also quit her role.

In an interview with IANS, he said: "I'm not disappointed that the film did not work out. It was a decision that the director [Karan Malhotra] made.

"He couldn't wait for the extra months I had to give to the filming of Bang Bang, and wanted to move on with another actor. And I said a dignified yes. I understand what it is like to be in limbo and that's when I gave my statement that I want him to move on with the project."

It has since been reported that Salman Khan will take on the lead role in the coveted film.

Commenting on the new casting, Roshan said: "The role gets well suited to him [Salman]. That's the power of the man. He can make any role 'suited' for him and it all works out.

"The director is the visionary and you need to give him what it takes for him to create that vision. And if a day comes when he feels he needs something or someone else to fit the vision, all you can do is respect the fact he is being honest to himself and give him the way out."

The 40-year-old will star next in Ashutosh Gowariker's period drama Mohenjo Daro.

Karan couldn't wait for a few months and now the movie is delayed by two years? Great vision.

Its KJo's loss not urs HR...and like someone said that KJo is now making some love story under the guise of Shuddhi to save face😆...because no way can I imagine A Hritik Roshan and A Salman Khan being able to do the same role acting wise...and Shuddhi was supposed to be an intense movie...and Sallu in an intense movie would be a horror to say the least🤪...So Kjo just turned the movie from intense to nonsense...Waiting for Mohen jo Daro now

Cant wait months and now the film will release in 2016 they think they can use hrithik like they want but he just let them go in avery easy way and then they try to be nice with him by saying good thing about BB any way hrithik didnt lose infact get much better film and role with ashu and big respect how he didnt try to show them in abad way even wish salman all the best

The movie is anyway delayed indefinitely 😕 Instead, they could have waited for a couple of months cos Karan went on & on about writing the role keeping HR in mind..Was KJo so confident about finding a replacement & starting with the shooting asap? No wonder he sounds pissed off with SLB 😆 This whole Shudhi fiasco sounds fishy to say the least..HR, Kareena & both the Karans give different answers & excuses in almost every interview as to why the film din't work out 😆

He said BB needed a few more days but Karan couldn't wait so he chose to opt out..How does that amount to choosing Katrina over Kareena? 😆 And between, laughing stock or not, KJo would have found a way to replace Kareena either ways if she was the reason behind HR opting out..Not one director/ producer will let go of a top hero to retain their heroine..Thats how Bollywood works..

KJo is on a mad spree of announcing movies he's gonna make. Lets see how many actually get made! Lol!
