Since nobody is posting, an easy Riddle :

We are second best to reality,

Honorable though we are, we do signify mortality.

Honor- bound to serve the successor,

For he too is most likely to join us sooner or later.

Our service is limited but of course is fruitful when needed,

We helped in aiding an endangered one & later the chosen one,

Though at times we have a funny habit of pretending in order to appear insignificant & blended.

ANSWER : "Headmaster Portraits"

We are second best to reality, - Self Explanatory

Honorable though we are, we do signify mortality. -You have have to be a Hogwarts Headmaster in order to feature in one of those portraits ( hence honorable) & you have to be dead too ( hence mortality) 🤢

Honor- bound to serve the successor, - Armando Dippet: "We are honour-bound to give service to the present Headmaster of Hogwarts! Shame on you, Phineas!" - 5th or 7th book (not sure)

For he too is most likely to join us sooner or later. - Self Explanatory, every Headmaster has gotto die sometime..

Our service is limited but of course is fruitful when needed, -Yup & they can travel back n forth only through some portraits ( hence limited service)

We helped in aiding an endangered one & later the chosen one, - Arthur Weasley (endangered one) & Dumbledore's portrait guiding Snape to help Harry (the chosen one)

Though at times we have a funny habit of pretending in order to appear insignificant & blended. -Yeah they do it a lot to eavesdrop on conversations going on in the Headmaster's office, they pretend to sleep..🥱
