Chapter 11

You know what bhai...you and bhabhi are made for each other. Ek ko chot lagthi hain...aur dusre ko dard hota hain said Dev. With that everyone started laughing while Maan and Geet were looking at each other with blank expressions.

The dinner was soon over and everyone left to their rooms while Maan & Geet left to the outhouse. As soon as Geet entered the outhouse, Maan quickly entered behind her and closed the outhouse door, he pinned Geet to the door.

What was that? At the dinner table? said Maan.

Why were you holding my hand? retorted Geet.

Why did you stamp on my foot? said Maan.

Why did you touch me? said Geet.

Maan and Geet stood staring at each other for a few minutes and then realised what they were doing with each other, and then Maan abruptly left her, feeling the anger coursing through him.

GEET he shouted, when he had enough off their argument.

Yes...my name is Geet...how many times will you remind me? Said Geet sarcastically.

Geet...I am telling you the last time...don't annoy me, otherwise it won't be good for you.

What did I do? Last time I checked, you were the one holding onto me, like I was your wife but wake up...this marriage is all fake and you yourself said that this marriage didn't mean anything to you so why are you so much bothered anyway.

Ohh...babaji...i cannot understand him! Please make him understand...etc. Geet carried on murmuring throughout.

Geet stood their talking to herself, while Maan was just staring at her. This was probably the first time he saw her talk so much, before she used to say brief sentences and now she talking and talking and that to her Babaji.

Chup...bilkul chup...you speak so much! You were better when you spoke less! He said annoyed.

What I speak a lot? Have you seen yourself? She asked.

Dekha babaji...ab maine kya kiya...She murmered, oblivious to the fact that Maan could hear every word she was saying but chose to ignore it.

Geet...tumari bakwas band karo...and you want to know why I got angry in the morning?

Well then listen...I said, I wanted to give you some space and that it was me who told you to make your own decisions. I didn't say give up on our marriage. I know I didn't used to but now I do. We are still husband and wife.

Thats why I got so angry at you...

That was when Geet realised why he felt that was wrong. Her mum had always taught her that the woman should always look after her husband. But in between, her mini war with Maan, she forgot at one point he was actually her husband.

At this point, she felt that Maan was right. After all, they have to try and forget what happened in the past. It was all due to a few misunderstandings...but they can at least try and be civil to one another.

Wohh...I am sorry Maan...I didn't make you breakfast because I didn't think you would like it!

Umm...Dadi told me that you only like Italian food and I don't know how to make Italian food so I thought you might have breakfast in the mansion and then I was just joking with you in the morning.

And I know why you were acting infront of Dadi...you don't want her to find out about us do you? Even I don't want her to find out...she has done a lot for me...and I can maybe never repay her.

Hmm...it's okay! Maan said.

Hmm...MSK is arguing with a girl for breakfast? What will the outsiders say?She said mockingly.

MSK...don't care about anyone except his family! He said with attitude.

Maan why do I feel that you had a different motive...moving into the outhouse? Geet asked suddenly, feeling confused with this whole conversation.

There must be something else right? Ofcourse right...! MSK always uses his brain. There had to be something else, and now Geet was intrigued.

Umm...Maan slightly hesitated before answering this question. His mind went back into flashback when he had the conversation with his Di, two days ago.

~ PAST~

Maan was working on the recliner. Geet was nowhere to be found. He was feeling quite guilty after speaking to his Dadi. He had to make it up to Geet, whatever happened. He knew for once he was wrong.

He was thinking about that when the door opened, revealing his Di. After his parents died, his sister was his everything. She filled the void in his heart. She was the most special person in his life.

Chote is everything alright? Annie asked softly.

Yes...Di...! replied Maan.

Chote...is everything alright between you and bhabhi? I don't know why but I feel that she is not happy. You know Chote...your wife was initially chosen by our mother, said Annie.

Maan looked up confused.

When both of you were born, our parents and her parents used to be friends. They once said that when you grow up, both of you will married together. It was so cute, it was like both you were betrothed to each other. Unfortunately, our parents did in the car crash, and couldn't live to see this day. Please Maan, fix everything between yourselves. It was our mother's last wish to see you two happy together.

Maan had tears in his eyes listening to his Di.

I hope that you are treating out Bhabhi with respect. I know that she is the once for you. Please be gentle with her. She is not used to her anger. Please give her a chance. Not everyone is like her...!, said Annie with a teary smile.

I promise Di, I will give her everything that she has a right to have! I will keep her happy Di, said Maan. At that instant, the decision was made.

Chote...please give her these...! Annie brought out his mother's bangles. This is her right.

Yes Di...thankyou! said Maan. Then Annie left Maan to think through things. He wanted this marriage to work, but he knew that he has to give her some time.

~ END OF PAST ~

No it's nothing like that Geet...! I just wanted you to have some space...that's why! said Maan.

So how is your college going? He asked trying to divert the topic a little.

Umm..it's only been two days...it is good! I have made lots of friends one of them is NK.

NK who?

Ohh...his name is Nandkishore, but everyone calls him NK...!! It is so cute right!

Oh yess...I know his father...we actually do business with them!

Ohh...

Well there is Lavanya, Arjun and Riya!

Umm...no...in the college...I have registered myself as Geet Gupta and not Khurana.

Hmm...a good move! Otherwise people would want to be friends with you just for the tag and not the real you.

You must get that a lot. He looked at her so she could specify a little.

I mean...you know...a big business man and all...so everyone must want your attention so they would become friends you for the name tag and nothing else. She clarified and unknowingly, this brought all the bitter memories of his life back to him.

Umm..Geet...you must be really tired! Also I want to go to sleep...good night! He left before she could even utter a single word.

What happened to him? She thought but then let it go as she really was tired and so did not dwell on it too much.

On the other hand, Maan went to his room and punched the mirror, watching it shatter into pieces. His knuckles were bleeding, blood dripping on the floor, the pain wasn't anything that was in his heart. His heart that didn't open to anyone. He was the MSK to the world outside because of the cold exterior that he had formed to stop being hurt by anyone.

Maan...what are you doing? Sameera was no-one to you and she will not affect you anymore! I have learnt all the lessons in my life but still the pain is not vanishing. But no more...I have more things to worry about and well Sameera i just hope you don't turn up infront of me...otherwise even I don't know what MSK will do to you! He thought.

He then and went to clean his hand and bandaged it properly.

Next day Geet made paratha's and she made enough so that Maan could have some as well. Maan was sitting silently just waiting for her to come out. Geet came out of the kitchen and sat down on the dining table, opposite him. She noticed that he was eating with his left hand, which was unusual because he was a right hander, completely opposite to her.

Maan...why are you eating with your left hand? She asked.

Geet...why are asking so many questions in the morning... he stated looking purely annoyed.

Total Rakshas Khurana! He will be back to normal in the evening! She thought and went to college, after arranging Maan's lunch.

Geet be ready...by 6 o'clock...we will have dinner outside today, said Maan.

Geet's face looked shocked. It was like someone had poured water all over her. She just managed to nod. But inside excitement rose within her. Her first dinner with her husband. For some reason, even after the whole fiasco, she wanted this marriage to work. His fingers felt so good last night, when he was caressing her waist. His touch was unique.

Geet knew that Maan had given her freedom from the relationship but she respected him for that so she would still do everything that a wife was supposed to do for a husband but just with him not knowing about it. She had learnt these things from her mum, which she respected a lot.
