| Q. With your film hitting the theatres on June 29 what frame of mind are you in at the moment? A. I am very anxious and nervous too! The audience is the ultimate judge and I wonder how they are going to react to my film, how they are going to judge me as an actor and how they are going to evaluate my performance. I have tried to keep my performance as natural as possible in the film. This is an important day for me not only because it marks my debut as an actor but it is also my mother's birthday. Mothers usually look upto their sons and I hope I have made her proud. Q. You said that the film is based on your life. Why a film on your life? A. Let me clarify that Aap Kaa Surroor is not a film on my life. The character that I play in the film includes certain traits from my personal life. It was director Prashant Chhada's idea to include my personal look and habits in the film. Why, I have never been caught without a cap. I never smile in my music videos. The rest of the story is fiction. It is about how a man wrongly accused of murder proves that he is not guilty. Q. Are you satisfied with the final product? A. Yes of course! The film has been stylishly shot. Prashant and producer Vinay Taneja have left no stone unturned to make the product as fine as possible. Here, I would like to clarify that as reported by the media, Mallika Sherawat has not charged an obnoxious amount of Rs 1.65 crores and neither does she make only a 10-minute appearance in the film. Mallika's role is of 36 minutes to be precise. So all these rumours are baseless. Q. Now since you have debuted as an actor, what would you say is more difficult — singing or acting? A. Acting and singing require talent. Both the arts are difficult and easy in their own way. Both require you to rehearse till you achieve perfection. I have pursued both arts with utmost sincerity and dedication. Q. Why has Riaa not been allowed to talk to the press? A. The character that Riaa plays is an enigmatic one and we thought that it is best that her work speaks for herself. She can always talk to the press once the film is released and the initial reactions are done with. Q. Have there been any offers for films even before Aap Kaa Surroor hit the theatres? A. Yes! But nothing is under consideration. Presently, I am more concerned about the audience reaction to my film. Q. Your visit to the Ajmer Dargah has sparked off a row. What do you say to that? A. I had gone there to offer prayers. People got to know before hand that I was going to come and a huge crowd had gathered even before I had reached. I had no option but to conceal myself if I wanted to offer prayers. Wearing the burqa was just quick thinking that I did to seek blessings peacefully. source:www.deccan.com |
