Kushi, tum tode der keliye akele rahogi is ghar me??? Arnav asked hesitantly. (Kushi will you stay alone in this house for some time?)

Aap ja rahe ho kya??? Kushi asked with a small pout. (You are going?)

Me aa jaunga. Mujhe kuch kam hai bahar. I promise I'll be back soon. He said hoping desperately that she would not stress out too much. (I'll come back. I have some work outside.)

Koi bath nahi aap jao aur fikar math karo. Kushi said managing a small smile. (No problem you go and don't worry.)

Arnav nodded his head and left his penthouse not before messaging Pritvi to keep an eye on this place till he came back. He had to go home today for his talk with jeeja ji. With a sigh he sped towards shathivan hoping to make it out fast.

Akash was a mess after Payal's accident. He walked into his house lost in his misery.

Oh chote sale sahib why do you look so tired? Came Shyam's voice disturbing him.

I was in the hospital today jeeja ji. Akash said. He was in no mood of talking to him. He had things in his mind which he needed to sort out.

Hospital? Are you alright? Why dint you tell any of us before itself. I would have accompanied you at least if your brother or sister is off working. Shyam spoke with lot of concern and worry. Akash sighed. He knew all this was an act. He was not his brother to believe Shyam was a very good man. He knew that there was something dark abt his jeeja ji. But he never proceeded in that direction fearing the married life of his Di.

No Jeeja ji. It is not for me. My secretary was in an accident today. He said managing to hide the pain he felt when he remembered the bloodied body of Payal lying on the road.

Oh! How is she? Shyam asked concerned (fake).

She passed into coma this by 6pm. Akash said getting sad again.

So she is alive? Shyam spoke more to himself than to Akash

What do you mean jeeja ji? Akash asked irritated

No. I meant why you are so worried. She is still alive. If Devi Maiyya wishes she will be fine soon. Shyam replied with a smile on his face.

Akash was about to say something when a servant came in calling Shyam

Sahib, aapki gadi ki chabhi. He said giving the keys to Shyam. (Sir your car keys)

Something clicked in Akash's mind.

Jeeja ji your car is a silver Volkswagen right? Akash asked as the small spark of doubt set in his mind. He saw something close to fear flash in Shyam's eyes

Yes. Shyam answered getting a bit worried.

Where was it today?

I had given it for service. Why are you asking?

The car that hit Miss Gupta was also the same one as yours. Akash said lost in his thoughts

What do you mean by that? Yelled a voice behind them.

Akash and Shyam looked behind to see Arnav standing there fuming.

Wo... Bhai.. Akash stammered. He dint want a fight now.

Arnav, Akash wanted to know if I was the one who hit Payal ji today. Shyam replied with venom coated in his voice

Arnav was furious. How could Akash think so of his jeeja ji?

Akash are you out of you mind? Why the hell would he do that?

But Akash dint reply. He was staring at Shyam with shock and confusion. Only one thing was running in his mind. How does Shyam know Payal's name?

Before he could say anything he felt a soft hand on his shoulder. It was Anjali/Geet di.

Leave all this. He is just stressed. She spoke dissolving the issue.

Come let us eat. She ordered as she gave Akash a small smile

No di, not now. I need to speak to Jeeja ji and leave saying he walked toward his study and Shyam followed him.

Jeeja ji... I'm sorry on Akash's behalf Arnav pleaded to Shyam as soon as they entered his study. I don't know why he thinks like this but I can assure you he was not in his proper mind. He said hoping Shyam would not be mad at his brother.

Array Sale sahib he is also like a small brother to me. Don't worry I have forgotten what he said the minute I left that place. Shyam said with a fake sweet smile. But inside he was getting worried. He knew Akash was not going to leave this matter. He had given his car to the wash to remove any marks on it as soon as he had driven off that place. He just hoped the workers have done a good job with it.

Anyway jeeja ji I need you to do me a big favor. Arnav started speaking. Take money from my accountant tomorrow and take care of Miss Gupta's medical expenses. I don't want any more problems cos of this accident. I could ask Akash to do it but now I feel if you do it things would be better. Arnav said looking at his watch. He was getting worried abt Kushi again. It had been nearly one hour since he left her back home and he was getting restless.

The minute Arnav said money Shyam's mind was in high alert. His smile grew when his mind conjured up plans of how he'll take money for himself rather than spend it on the girl he tried to kill.

Don't worry Sale Sahib. I'll do it. Shyam said a little too enthusiastically. But Arnav was thinking abt Kushi to hear him properly.

You wanted to tell me something important in the office today? Arnav asked looking at his silent Jeeja ji

Ho, don't worry abt it. I have taken care of it. Shyam said with a big smile

Are you sure?

Yes Arnav I am. Moreover you seem to be in a big hurry now so don't bother abt it.

Arnav nodded his head and left the room and the house. He called Pritvi and got his report that Kushi was inside the house and fine. He sped towards the place which he was slowly developing a homely feeling to.

Kushi was bored out of her mind. She had been so ecstatic when she came back home. Her Arnav ji had transformed the once boring house into a lovely home. He had painted her a room with bright colors and also made a small mandir in the place which once housed some bitter liquids. But now that she was alone here, she was bored and restless. Suddenly she sprang out of the bed and decided to cook something for them. She freshened up and then lit a small dia in the mandir. She prayed to keep all her loved once and other good people of the world safe. She prayed to always keep Arnav as her Rajkumar and never change him to that Rakshas. She then started preparing the dinner for the night. She hummed as she did her work hoping her Arnav ji would return back soon.

Arnav came back as soon as he could. He brutally punched the button in the lift to the top floor. He hoped she was ok alone. Arnav had read previously that we are not supposed to leave people who have come from rehab alone for the first few days. He hated doing it but couldn't avoid it. But now on he would try to keep her company. The ping of the elevator opening brought him out of his thoughts. Arnav walked into the house and was immediately assaulted with the smell of roasted spices. His stomach growled in acceptance to his thoughts. He walked towards the kitchen only to be greeted by gentle humming. Arnav stood in his spot and looked at Kushi moving around in his kitchen. Something warm spread through his heart making his sigh. Kushi turned around shocked at his presence.

Arnav watched in amusement, how the shocked expression changed to one of excitement in minutes. A full blown smile grew on her innocent face and her eyes shone in happiness. Arnav himself couldn't stop the smile that spread on his lips seeing her.

Arnav ji, she called out happily to him. Apne tho hume dara hi dia. (you scared me) she said as she gathered some dish in her hands. Khana tyar hai. Kapde badal kar ayiye ga. (The food is ready. Change your clothes and come.) She said and skipped out of the kitchen taking the tray which held her preparations. Arnav followed her orders. He quickly showered and changed into his tracks and t-shirt. His tummy was growling angrily at him for the delay.

Kushi looked expectedly at Arnav as he dug into the food. Arnav was so lost in his plate to notice it. The only thing he knew was that he was falling in love with this food.

Arnav ji... Kushi probed getting tired of being ignore.

Hmmm he mumbled stuffing his mouth.

Kesa hai. She asked irritated. (How is it?)

Kya??? Arnav looked confused and lost here. He dint understand why Kushi was getting irritated when he dint do anything. (What?)

Khana kesa hai. Kushi asked glaring at him. (How is the food?)

Arnav looked dumbstruck for a moment. How stupid of him he thought. She had cooked all this and he gobbled it off without even appreciating her efforts.

Arnav smiled a silly smile. Bohot accha hai Kushi. Sorry... wo me... he stammered not knowing how to proceed. (It is very nice. Sorry Kushi...that..I..)

Koi bath nahi. Kushi said laughing at this. Aapko pata hai mere sath akhsar esa hota rahta hai. ek din Jiji... and so Kushi started talking and filling Arnav's ears with all the things she thought and did when she was younger and Arnav listened quietly to everything, still eating his fill. (No problem. You know this happens to me all the time. One day jiji...)

Owww... Arnav moaned as he sat up. I should not have eaten so much he scolded himself the nth time in this past one hour. After dinner, Kushi and Arnav had cleaned the table and said their good nights and retired. But since Arnav had stuffed himself with all the food, his stomach was full and was paining.

Ho man... he grumbled again as he walked towards the huge glass which formed one of the walls of his room. He could see the city from where he was standing. The clouds split and lighting slashed through it, lighting up the darken sky for a minute. Thunder grumbled continuously as rain started to shower again. Another flash of lighting and Arnav heard his door opening.

Arnav ji hume dar lag raha hai. (Arnav ji I'm scared) She cried as she ran in and jumped onto his bed making him frown at the mess she was making. She pouted seeing his expression and sat cross legged on his bed. Arnav looked at her and wondered how anyone could do something to hurt this small angel.

Kushi was wearing a white kurta and pajama pants and had a spread around her. The red on her nose and check made her look like an innocent doll. Arnavs heart twisted in pain and regret of what he had done to her one month ago.

Arnav ji... she moaned as jumped on his bed

Ok ok tum yaha so sakthi ho. Arnav offered not knowing what else to do. (Ok Ok you can sleep here)

Kushi wrapped herself with her spread and stretched herself on his bed and slept off within minutes.

With a sigh Arnav turned towards the view outside but now it held no interest to him. He walked towards the bed and sat down. His hand moved towards her head and he gently caressed it. He dint understand the warm feeling that developed every time he looked or even thought about her. This was really strange for him. He was having some kind of bond with her and it seemed to strengthen every time. Lightning sliced the sky and the sound shook Kushi body terribly. Hearing her whimper and shiver, Arnav lay next to her and pulled her towards him and held her close, hoping to free her of this fright.

Arnav ji... she whimpered in her half sleep...

Shhh... me hun yaha.. He cooed to her gently cradling her and rocking her. (Shhh.. I'm here)

Arnav ji hume kahani sunayiyena... Kushi asked in a low sleep driven voice...(Arnav ji tell me a story)

Arnav thought for a while. He had never told anyone a story for a long time. The last person who even asked him such a question was his Titli, he recollected painfully. He nodded his head refusing her. Mujhe kahani nahi athi. He told her. His voice heavy with emotions on the memory of Titli. (I don't know any stories.)

Aapko pata hai? Jiji hamesha mujhe ese waqt pe kahani sunati thi. Kushi spoke with a sob. (You know my jiji always used to tell me stories during such times)

Slowly Arnav felt her body shake as she broke into tears. He knew this was not good for her. She could pass into depression and he dint want that.

Tumari jiji konse kahani kahte thi? He asked her trying to stop her from crying. (What stories did your jiji tell you?)

Pariyo wali, jinme rajkumar hote they. Kushi spoke as she rubbed her teary eyes with the back of her hand. (Fairy ones which had prince in them.)

Pariyo wali? Arnav was surprised as well as confused? Who listened to such stories in this age? He wondered as he looked at her innocent face.

Han. Jinme boore jadugar rajkumari ko bade wale Mahal me bandh karthey they aur rajkumar Pariyo ke madad se use chudathey. She explained to him with a small smile that grew on her face as she remembered those days. (Yes. Those that had bad wizards who caged princesses in big towers and the prince would save her with the help of fairies.)

Aapko pata hai. App bhi mere rajkumar ho. Kushi spoke again after a short break. Apne mujhe use dusht admi se bachaya. Kushi explained with a thoughtful look. (You know you are also my price. You saved me from that bad man)

Arnav couldn't help but smile at her innocent words for all he knew was he was no rajkumar. He was once Raja ji for his Titli but after her people only saw him as a monster.

Acha? Arnav asked amused at her words. His hands touched her hip accidently making her giggle. Hume gudgudi hoti hai waha... she said rubbing the left over sleep from her eyes. (I feel ticklish there)

Oh Accha??? Arnav asked with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Dekhte hai.. Saying he started tickling her...(Really? Let us see)

Nah..i... na...hi... Ar...ran..av ji... She half laughed and shouted for him to stop but Arnav was nowhere near stopping. He tickled her mercilessly as he saddled her...

Arnav ji... She gasped for breath... hume chodiye.. She cried out unable to bear with all this... (Arnav ji.. leave me)

But he continued. She laughed so hard that tears fell from her eyes. Arnav dint know when he stopped tickling her and started staring at her face. Her long lashes where now wet with tears, her cheeks flushed and her eyes shone with laughter. Her little nose was also now red with all the laughing she was doing. She looked so cute and innocent that Arnav couldn't stop himself from laughing with her. There was something in this girl that he couldn't explain that made him do things that he never imagined to ever do...

He was so lost in his thought that he dint see Kushi trying to push him down. By the time he realized it, she was now saddling him and trying to tickle him. But boy she dint know that Arnav was not ticklish. He just laid there smirking at her childish ways of trying to tickle him. She got off him with a huff and then started tickling his feet trying to get him to laugh out. But alas she was not successful.

Arnav's heart did a small squeeze seeing her face fall. So he just wriggled and started laughing. He thought it would be difficult to act like this. But seeing her excited and proud face, laughter just came to him. He dint want her to feel sad ever again. So for the next half hour, Kushi tried tickling Arnav in all the areas that she thought he was ticklish and Arnav humor her but acting so.

Aur nahi Kushi. Arnav managed to say as he pulled her down next to him... (No more Kushi)

Hmmm teek hai.. Kushi replied giggling... She was so happy to see him unwind. (Hmm ok)

Kushi ek bath puchoo?? Arnav asked getting serious. (Can I ask you something?) He couldn't look at her so he was turned his attention towards the fan.

Hum hu.. Kushi hummed looking at the sealing

If, I mean yadhi tumari jiji yaha akar tume le jana chahthi tho kya tum chali jaogi? (If you sister comes and wants to take you, will you go with her?)

Kya ap chahte hai ki me nahi jau? (Do you wish me not to go?)

Arnav was silenced by this question. What did he want? Did he want her to stay like this with him? He was not sure. The only thing he was sure was that when Kushi was around him, his life feels serene. He looks forward to spend time with her. Other things, people and activities seem useless in front of her. She was like a breath of fresh air to him. He dint know himself when she was around. He was happier and not tensed abt anything with her. So he came to a conclusion. Yes he wanted her with him.

Han me chahta hun tume yaha rah jao. He said... (Yes I want you to stay here) he waited for her to reply but nothing came he looked to her direction and found her fast asleep. He smiled at this. Hear he was telling her a major decision and there she was sleeping off like a small kid. But somehow he just loved this nature of hers. Her innocence and childishness was something he enjoyed a lot. This also made him want to protect her more her more.

With a small smile Arnav closed his eyes and slept peacefully beside her.
