Teri Ishq Me Hui Awari Mein
Scene 1
Sardi khasi na malaria hua.
Main gaya yaar mujhko.
Loveria hua
"Akka, jaldi karo. We are so late and my faviroute song is already playing."
Mihika was at the door of the Premier theatre, with Vandu a few feet behind. Mihika had just roundly told off the usherette who had attempted to stop them from entering, offering them a refund and free tickets to another movie of their choice instead.
"I don't care if some Richie Rich has bought all the other tickets" she had fumed. "Yeh movie to hum dekh kar rahenge."
"But ma'am please aap un se thoda dur baithiye. Request hai."
"No" Mihika had responded. "I will sit at the seats I booked and paid for. Yeh amirzaade ko problem hota hai, to woh move kare."
The usherette preceded them into the cinema, shining her torch on the floor as she showed them to their seats, directly in front of the ones that Raman and Ishita were occupying. The darkness of the theatre and the fact that Raman and Ishita were in the midst of a passionate embrace meant that Mihika and Vandu could not see their faces as they sat down. Instead they only saw a silhouette of a man and woman locked in an embrace, lost in each other.
"Chee" Mihika said loudly to Vandita, as they sat down. "So disgusting. So this is why they booked the entire cinema. So cheap. Chee."
"Mihika, let it be na" Vandita tried to reason with her fiery sister. "They aren't doing anything to you. So let it be."
The song ended just then, at the same time that Raman and Ishita broke their kiss, the need for oxygen causing them to draw apart.
Mihika's voice was clear and loud in the momentary silence that followed the close of the song. "What akka, why let it be?. It's so cheap, kissing in a theatre, public mein. Raman Jiju hote yahan na, toh batate in logon ko. Areh, Jiju ne to Mihir ka car shake hote hue dekha tha, toh he was so angry and we were just making coffee. Disgusting people".
Raman and Ishita froze in their seats, Ishita immediately hiding her face in Raman's chest.
"Mihika" she whispered to Raman, as mercifully, the soundtrack picked up again. "And akka. What are they doing here. Raman, ab kya kare?"
Raman held onto Ishita as he laughed uncontrollably in her hair.
"I should have known" he whispered in between his laughter . "Who else could it be but Mihika, acche acche haar jaate hai tumhari bahen ke samne, woh bechaara Manager usse kaise rokta?"
He continued to hide his face in Ishita's hair as Mihika half turned in her seat.
"Chee akka" she said again, loudly to Vandita. "They are still at it."
Vandita pulled her back "Mihu, adhi movie to miss ho gaya, now just watch the rest please."
Scene 2
Raman and Ishita were back in their car, Ishita's face crimson with embarrassment, while Raman again started to laugh uncontrollably.
"Raman Jiju hote to.." He repeated Mihika's words, holding his stomach as he laughed out loud. "If only she knew..."
Despite her mortification, Ishita could not help the giggles that escaped her. His laughter was infectious and she could not help joining in.
"Raman, how embarrassing"
"Haan, but we managed to escape didn't we, jaan. Thank God they got so engrossed in the movie that we were able to sneak out. "
They had waited till a particularly engrossing emotional sequence before they had sneaked out, their backs to the Iyer sisters sitting in front of them.
"Lekin Mein ne to picture miss kar di na" Ishita said with a mock pout.
"Accha, tum picture dekh rahi thi kya? As far as I remember, tum to kuch aur kar rahi thi"
Ishita blushed and looked down.
He laughed again, then started the car. "I think our secret is safe for another day, sweetheart. Chalo, tumhe clinic chod doon. Tum ghar call kar do, so papa or Romi can come down to pick you up. I have a long drive ahead."
Ishita smiled at him and dialled home.
Scene 3
Romi had still been lounging with Sarika at the clinic, where Dr Batra was still busy with a patient, when he received a call from home.
"Puttar, tu kahan hai? Kahin nazdeek hai to ghar aaja, aur car lekar jaa Bhabhi ko clinic se pick kar le. Warna door hai, to mein chala jaata hoon" it was his father on the phone.
"Bhabhi, kaun Bhabhi" he asked?
"Areh paagal, kitne Bhabhi hai tere? Ishita aur kaun?"
"Clinic se?" asked Romi, bewildered and looking around wildly.
"Are haan khotiye, aur kahan se? Rehne de, lagta hai tu to talli hai. Ghar aa, tujhe batata hoon." Mr Bhalla slammed the phone in disgust.
Romi stood staring at his phone for a few seconds oblivious to Sarika ji's concerned looks.
He snapped himself into action, picking up his helmet and fleeing for the door. " Yahaan koi bahut bada siyaapa hone wala hai, Sarikaji. Mein to chala."
Twenty minutes later, Raman sat in his car across the road from the Batra clinic, watching as Ishita waited outside for his father. He waited until she got safely in the car, before driving off into the night, her goodbye kiss still lingering on his lips.
