PART 8

The next morning Armaan is sitting in the lobby still thinking about her words. He wanted to confront her but he feared losing her friendship. The friendship that meant life to him. How was he going to survive if his feelings were one sided and they upset her. What if she gets angry and goes away from him? He couldn't even bear that thought; and so he just kept sitting there thinking about what could be done.
Riddhima had come down in search of him as Ananya had called sometime back and was asking about him. She saw him sitting in the lobby area in some deep thoughts. She knew he was probably thinking about her and her behavior. If she would approach him now; he would surely start the topic again and she did not want that to happen. So quietly she turned around to go back to her room.
Just as she had turned around; she heard him gasp loudly and she immediately turned back.

His hand had accidently dashed against a table and hit against the nail which made him shriek in pain. The moment she saw him hold his hand tightly with a frown hissing at it; she ran towards him and held his hand.
R: Kya hua Armaan...tum heek toh ho?
Armaan forgot everything about his wound as he saw Riddhima in front of him.
A: Riddhima...tum yaha?
Armaan had just taken in her presence when she turned towards the manager who stood near the reception table.
R: This is the service you provide? I heard that this was a five star hotel but unfortunately I think I was wrong. You guys can't even cover up the nails of the table! How irresponsible of you!
Manager: Ma'am we are sorry; but we had just informed sir about the table and...
R: Don't you dare give me excuses Mister! Even after a guest getting injured cause of your carelessness you have the audacity to...
A: Riddhima shaant ho jao; inki koi galti nahi hai. Inhone kaha tha ki service people are coming vo worn out nails cover karne toh main kahi aur bait jau; but I was been adamant. Aur choti si kharoch hai.
R: Of course I should have known! Tum toh khud ko Superman hi samajhte ho na. Tum kisi ki baat kyu maanoge; aur specially jab vo tumhare bhale ke liye kahi gayi ho!
A: Par ma...
R: Just shut up Armaan!
She held his hand and dragged him straight to his room. Grabbig hold of the first aid kit she applied the ointment and bandaged his hand quickly.
All the while Armaan just kept saring at her deeply. The frown on her forehead; the pain in her eyes; the hisses that she gave while clearing the blood were all noticed by him.
R: Ab theek ha...
She finally looked up at him as the bandage was done and found him staring at her. She immediately looked away to avoid the questions that sailed in his eyes. He understood that she had read his eyes and was purposely avoiding him which agitated him. He grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him with such a force that left her gasping.
A: Bas Riddhima; bohot hua. Aur kitna bhagogi mujhse tum? Aakhir kar kyun rahi ho tum ye sab?
R: Please Armaan...chodo mujhe.
A: Not till I get my answers!
R: Armaan ple...aghh...haath chodo Armaan dard ho raha hai!
A: Aur mere dard ka kya? Tum jo mere saath kar rahi ho uska kya? Vaise toh baat tak nahi karna chahti na tum mujhse; toh is itni si kharoch se tum itni pareshaan kyun ho gayi?
R: Armaan vo chot itni si na...
He pulled her up forcing her to face him as he held her face in his palms.
A: It was hardly even seen Riddhima. Ek band aid laga diya toh uske baad vo chot yaad bhi nahi rehti mujhe!
He caressed her cheek wiping the lone tear away and moving too close to her leaving just an inch space between them
Par chot mujhe lagi; aur takleef tumhe kyun hui Riddhima? Kal toh badi dur rehne ki baatein kar rahi thi tum toh aaj ky...
R: Enough Armaan; just stop it.

She whisked his hand away and pushed him slightly to make some distance between them.
R: Tumhari soch apne paas rakho; bohot bakwaas sun li maine tumhari. Tum bohot galat soch rahe ho. Maine toh bas yahi socha ki tumhe chot lagi hai toh tumhari thodi help kar du par tum pata nahi kya...

She shook her head as her tears did not let her speak further choking her throat. She ran out of the room and within minutes she was out of his vision. He sat on the bed feeling really uneasy about everything. He looked at his hand that now had the bandage and anger took over him. He threw the pillows away and messed the entire bedsheet.
He stood near the window as two fat tears rolled down his cheeks. Why was LOVE always so hurtful?
Why was she running away from him? He was her husband and before everything he was her friend! Couldn't she share the truth with him. Why was she running away when her eyes clearly depicted love!
He wasn't even expecting anything from her; then why did she have to run away. Why was she hurting him and her ownself?

Just then he heard a knock on the door.
A: Yes?
Manager: Sorry to disturb you sir; actually your wife Mrs.Mallik; she just went out of the hotel.
We tried to talk to her but she didn't listen. Sir the climate outside is really stormy and is about to turn even more severe. I thought you should get her back befo...
Even before the manager had finished; Armaan ran out cursing Riddhima under his breath for her stupidity. She wasn't even wearing her jacket and had walked out in such a bad weather!
Just a minute back she was scolding the manager for beign careless; and what would she call herself now?

Riddhima on other hand was walking down the lonely street crying her heart out. What bad had she ever done that she was in such a situation. Why was God punishing her so bad? She wished the best for Samaira and would always; but if Armaan was destined to be with Samaira why did he have to come in her life. Why this stupid contract and why did God make her fall in love with him.
Life was such a misery. Couldn't she ever be happy. Wasn't she worth a single reason of happiness in life?
The snowfall and the cold winds were chilling to death but she cared less. She kept walking till she could feel her limbs. But after a while; there came a time when her vision started blurring. Her hands had turned numb and she was feeling dizzy but she continued walking.
Armaan started shouting out her name as he walked down the street. The street was completely empty as obviously no stupid attempted to move out in that horrible weather. But his wife ought to be the exception! He was agitated, worried, angry, hurt all at the same time. But the reason behind all the mixed emotions was only one; Riddhima! From last 20 minutes he was searching for her but all in vain.
Finally he saw a faint figure at the end of the street walking meekly. He ran with all his might as he was sure that it was Riddhima.
As he reached her he could see that she was barely able to walk but still didn't want to give up. Her entire face had turned red while her lips quivered with the chilling weather. He wrapped a jacket around her and took her under his umbrella.
A: What the hell Riddhima? Care to explain what's this suicidal attempt for?
R: Tu...tum yaha bhi...aa...ga...ye...jao...
They were far from the hotel now and seeing her state he was pretty sure she couldn't make it all the way back to the hotel. He held her hand and tried to take her with him.
A: Chalo Riddhima; mausam bohot kharab hai. Apni haalat dekho um...
R: Tum...he is...se kya? Tum jaa... She could never complete her words as next minute she went unconscious in his arms. He picked her up and thanked God as he found a cottage few steps away.
He took her to the cottage and asked for help. Riddhima's lips had turned blue by now while her entire body was COLD! His heart ached seeing her state but he somehow gathered himself and placed her on the bed inside.

The cottage was owned by an old lady who quickly agreed to help him out seeing Riddhima's state.
Old lady: What happened young man?
A: Ma'am if you don't mind can you please help me out. She...she is my wife. She is in a really bad state and the weather is so bad I just...
O.L: Calm down kid; don't worry. She will be alright. God will not let anything happen to her. But she needs to change immediately. Her clothes have turned completely wet; change them Ill be back with some blankets and soup.
A: But...

The old lady went away leaving Armaan in a dilemma. It was the matter of her life; but how was he supposed to chage her clothes. Agreed he was her husband but...
Nahi main aisa nahi kar sakta; ye galat hoga. Par Riddhima ki haalat toh aur bhi kharab ho rahi hai! Ab main kya karu? Sahi aur galat samjne ka waqt nahi hai Riddhima I am sorry; I promise I won't betray your trust; par ye kapde bohot geele hai inhe change karna hi padega!

He shut his eyes and changed her clothes never once glancing down her face. He wrapped a blanket carefully around her and rubbed her feet as she was still cold. He remembered the first time she had fever and he was rubbing her feet the exact way. That; made him realize that his heart held the same feelings, care and love for her right since then but it was he who couldn't judge it earlier.

Tle lady returned with some balnkets and a bowl of soup for him. He tucked her in the blankets as the lady increased the temperature of the heater.
A: Thank you so much Ma'am...
O.L: Mrs. Marvel. You can call me Mrs. Marvel. And it was my pleasure to help you...umm...
A: Armaan...
Mrs. Mrvl: Armaan! You both make a great couple. Just some bad time I guess.
Armaan looked down at Riddhima with worry lines clearly visible on his face.
Mrs. Mrvl: You really love her a lot; isn't it. She is really a lucky girl...
A: No...I am the lucky one Mrs. Mrvl.
Mrs. Mrvl: Hmm...here have some hot soup.
A: Thanks Mrs. Mrvl; but no thank you. I am fine.
Mrs. Mrvl: She will be alight Armaan; don't worry. But you too have become wet and need to warm your body.
A: No Mrs. Mrvl I am absolutely okay; don't worry.
Mrs. Mrvl shook her head smiling at him and went away as she knew he wouldn't even bother to touch the bowl until his wife gainsed conscious.

After two hours he could feel her body heating up a little and her lips were again rosy red. She was still shivering and chatteing her teeth. She blinked her eyes uneasily and finally opened them after great difficulty. Armaan had held her hand and was sitting right next to her.
A: Ohh thank God you woke up. Are you feeling okay Riddhima? Jyaada thand toh nahi lag rahi?

Riddhima who ws still shivering turned her head a little when her gaze fell on her dupatta lying at a corner and right next to it was her dress. Her eyes instantly trailed down to her body which was now wrapped in a blanket.
She shook her head and whisking her hand away from his hold held the blanket closer to her. Tears rolled down her eyes continuosly. She looked around at the place and realized they weren't in the hotel room.

A: Riddhima tum aaram karo tumha...
R: Hum kaha hai?
A: Hum cottage main hai Riddhima. Ye Mrs. Mrvl ka ghar hai; tum behosh ho gayi thi toh main tumhe yaha le aaya; Mrs. Mrvl ne hi humari madat ki aur...
R: Mere kapde kisne change kiye?

Armaan was tongue tied and looked down trying to form some words but her accusing look never let him speak.
R: Maine poocha mere kapde kisne change kiye Armaan?

His downcasted eyes and utter silence answered her well. She shut her eyes tightly as few more tears streamed down.
