Court pulls up police in Mallika case
A local court in India on Tuesday asked the police to appear before the court in connection with the case regarding the alleged obscene dance performance of bollywood actor Mallika Sherawat at J W Marriot Hotel on December 31.
The court of first class judicial magistrate (JMFC) D K Trivedi observed that it is not satisfied with the police investigation in the case. It asked the J P Road police officials to appear with the report before the court on Thursday.
The police had gone to Mumbai in connection to the case earlier and had also issued summons. "The court will hear the police version as to why they did not take the statements of Sherawat and the hotel owner," said Baroda Bar Association president Narendra Tiwari, who had filed the complaint against Sherawat.
The court had asked the J P Road police officials to submit the report within 30 days. Earlier, too the court had pulled up the police officials for shabby investigation in the case.
After changing several courts, the case was recently transferred to the court of D K Trivedi. An application was also filed by Tiwari at the district court for transfer of case to ensure speedy trial.
