I am Sikh-Hindu
Some of my Punjabi Sikh side of the family celebrate Karvachauth..believe in Sherowali maata... in a grand way actually...

My Hindu side of the family does Karvachauth in a more modest way..Guru Nanak is their Guru too...

And we do pray at Peer Baaba..

I am proud of that we respect all religions and celebrate them..

And I like it when they celebrate culture in shows..although they may not stay true to any religion.

I agree with what Monaco said- TV never shows the right way but it is a fiction show and they do use a disclaimer. She's explained how regional traditions are not followed in serials.
Plenty of Punjabi Hindus also pray to the Gurus...so I just assume the families are Punjabi Hindus who respect the Gurus.
Also, so many Sikh Punjabi ladies wear sindoor - I see it all the time when I go back to India to visit.

Veera- I was thinking maybe Gunjan's family is Punjabi Hindu...so Hindu wedding.

Bani- the last wedding was Hindu style because the guy Kooki was getting married to was Hindu.

Also, Hindu weddings have more cinematic value- think about it, you can have dramatic moments with sindoor, magalsutra, phere, agni...and then later on, you can use the mangalsutra and sindoor as foreshadowing symbols.

Also, Qubool Hai- the Nikaah shown between Zoya and Ayaan was ridiculously invalid. Same is the Nikaah between Ahil and Sanam. Nikaah requires consent- not coerced consent etc etc. Just so many things are wrong.

So yeah, we really need to take all of these with a pinch of salt. It does get annoying because the list of stupid stuff is already quite long in Indian shows.

I noticed that Abhi's dadi is a sikh and not a hindu and that Pragya's family are punjabi's. But it's true the wedding should have been a sikh wedding, I've seen a serial where a girl who is sikh punjabi marries a hindu, "Ram Milaayi Jodi" in that serial they had a sikh ceremony first and then phere's according to hindu faith also, they had two wedding ceremonies.
