Indi di, absolutely loved reading these two posts of yours. To have non serial watchers like us congregate like this, they surely did lot of things right. We felt their attraction and the utter helplessness in the face of that, the pain that it brought with it. Yet, how could they let it all go like that. Like you I don't understand this whole trp shenanigans, probably because I don't watch much tv.
Anjali, she was interesting and pivotal all right. And she did notice things didn't she? That conversation with her brother about khushiji's "bechaini", especially that feeling that things didn't feel alright when she saw her talking to her fianc. She didn't talk about that to naniji or lavanya, interesting that! Did she feel her brother would've noticed something (she did ask if he had noticed)? In reply she got that soliloquy from her brother! And there was no pondering on that. Ha, what interesting possibilities!

the bechaini question by an astute sister and oh that soliloquy by a man who doesn't know this is love but it holds him in its relentless embrace anyway. and makes him go a little crazy. i need to see that... writing a chapter of ncofl now, was taking a 5 min breather... straight after the chapter, it's the non serial watcher back to serial thanks, kizh...

thanks for reading my posts... lot of hurting churning on. but yeah, no ordinary serial... must get beyond the bilge.

Khushi and mami see the video footage where some men are shown clearly, took Arnav out from the airport. They can't see further as there is no more footage was recorded after that. While searching more tapes they hear the guard's foot steps. so they hide. But Khushi comes again and takes the tape with her. As usual she trips and drops the tape on the ground. The guard, who is looking around, comes right behind her. The tape is laying down right in front of his feet. Fortunately he can't see both khushi and the tape and goes out from the room.

mami is waiting outside for khushi with baited breath; where is phatti saree, if she got caught or not. khushi comes right then with the tape and they could manage to escape.

mami's feet are aching after doing so many stunts. But Khushi's mind is pervaded by arnav's thought only. She looks at the tape and tells mami about the ransom. She is sure that Arnav has been kidnapped. So the kidnapper definitely will ask for ransom. mami says handsome instead of ransom. Oh yeah they didn't want ransom, but handsome for sure.

mami brings all of her jewelries, so that she can sell all and give the ransom money. She can't expect any money from Khsuhi, as she thinks she must've spent all her money making jalebis. haha I don't remember this line

mami's gesture sure proved, how much she loves Arnav. She once gave all her jewelry to him to do business. And later when Arnav became a successful businessman, he tried to cover her with jewelry, as much as she wanted.

khushi asks mami, why she needs to sell her jewelries where the kidnapper didn't ask for any money. Those 4 men sure abducted him and took him out from the airport. that means he is in India. She is ambiguous, why they didn't ask for any ransom yet. khushi thinks to watch the tape more assiduously to find the clue about those 4 men.

in the semi dark room of the deserted warehouse, Arnav is still tied up on the chair with ropes. He looks groggy and emaciated. His eyes are turbid and shutting down. Suddenly he lifts his head from his frazzled state; Khushi is sitting kneeling right in front of him. She looks resplendent in her green suit, her long hair flows down her back in dark waves of ebony. He utters Khushi gently, can't believe his eyes. How mellifluous her name sounds from his mouth! His eyes lit with a glimmer of smile. but the smile doesn't quite dispel the shadows of pain in his eyes. He feels jovial with the cascade of emotions pumping through him while being peacefully aware of her nearness as a gentle calmness seeps into his heart. He gazes down at her with his breath rag and his eyes alit with a soft glow. His tied hand lifts a bit, tries to outstretch to hold her. Tears brim in her eyes to see him in such decadent condition. Her lovely eyes are trying to read his somber expression and flickering with pain. She looks at the hand of her strong and confident man, what is tied with ropes. He looks crestfallen and giddy also. Arnav asks her,

"khushi, sach mein tum ho!" he smiles

"mujhe laga koi sapna hai"

khushi leans towards him and her hand reaches out to care his face lovingly. His face angles, to feel her hand..

"yeh sapna i to hai arnavji."...and she evanesces.

credit goes to the maker

His hand remains outstretched to retain her, but no avail. He looks around with despondence, can't find her any where. A strong pensive expression lurks in the depths of his eyes. He clasps his fist. His adam apple bubbles up and down as he swallows in an attempt to thwart a rising wave of emotions. He can't keep his turbid eyes open. he opens his fist, where he is muffling her pnk pompom. A silly little pom pom, which is her signature style, is his strength now. His mind is whirling in a vortex of incisive thought. He recollects how he stole that while snatching the ticket from her hand. She pleaded him not to go, but he didn't listen to her. Self recrimination that flays him and rips it to smithereens. he wishes if he would've listened to her plea! Repercussion takes him to the indelible memories what is tethered in his heart.

The loving and caring Khushi...When he fainted for low sugar, she stayed up whole night to take care of him. How worried she was and how lovingly she took care of him!

Naughty and bubbly Khushi...he went to Gupta house how she did pranks with him in the GH yard.

Shattered khushi...he didn't trust her when she said she never had an illegitimate relationship with Shyam. how loathsomely he threw their pic on the ground!

Pain and agony suffuse his visage.

So many memories of her pervade his thought. Before leaving for London, how harshly he behaved with her, dragged her roughly towards the bed. still, she didn't relinquished but beseeched him incessantly not to leave her.

Her crestfallen face, her teary eyes are piercing his heart with million middles. He made her cry even in their last meeting. He is swallowing hard to control his anguish. His face grapples with contrition. His heart squeezes with sudden realization as his face blanched and his eyes turn murky with pure, unadulterated grief. Darkness encompasses him again and the air around him shudders with pure and impenetrable grief. His mind unclear and groggy as pain continues to cleanse his inside.

Barun was outstanding. He just said a short line, but his expressions said so much. He was even looking sexy in his disheveled state.

Akash and Payal are finally look like a perfect couple. She is taking care of her hubby darling like a perfect wife and even tricks him for movie. Akash also assents to take his beautiful wife for a movie date.

mami's investigation starts with the dhobi. it seems, mami is not taking Arnav's kidnapping seriously. Otherwise, how an adult woman like her thought a poor dhobi can kidnap a cogent man like ASR! 😕 When khushi asks her what she is doing, she chides her not to interruptions in invhastigason. mami thinks as the kidnappers didn't ask for ransom, they have some other motives. So anybody can be the kidnapper. They should keep their eyes open. While she was giving her opinion on the kidnappers, Khushi's eyes go to Shyam. Her suspicion goes straight to him. she later comes to his room furtively and checks his phone. She is thinking why she didn't suspect that Shyam could be the kidnapper! She sees a message in his phone that he withdrew 500,000 rupees from the bank. Her ambiguity increases more; what he did with that much of money! shyam comes out of the bathroom right then. She hardly could manage to get out. But before leaving the room she again tripped with a table and made noise. shyam becomes alert who came to his room! laxmi helps Khushi this time, she reaches there right then and Khushi pushes her inside the room. shyam thought it was laxmi. khushi was about to leave when she hears him rebuking somebody to call him. khushi tries to eavesdrop his conversation, he is telling the person that that guy shouldn't be slipped from their hand. The sly guy senses somebody is around, so he comes out to look. Fortunately khushi could manage to hide. shyam shuts the door and Khsuhi still listens that he is telling to capture the man and bring him 8 @ night. but he doesn't mention where, just tells him to that place.

Khushi is cogitating with whom Shyam going for the rendezvous or why did he say to confine him; what place he is going!

Nice take Sohara. You captured Arnav's anguish very well. I can't even imagine how must he feel remembering his last few days with Khushi. How much he must have hurt her and made her cry and now he may not have a chance to ever meet her and set it right. Such a terrible helpless feeling it must be. Also lovely how you noted the different facets of Khushi that he remembered.. caring, bubbly then shattered..

That dhobi scene with mamiji I could not stand. good you pointed out how silly it was.

an episode carried by two actors mainly, utkarsha naik and sanaya irani, as it's the day to play detective and find arnav ji anyhow, somehow. might have been interesting, but for the decision to go funny, almost comic, while on a desperate search to find the man who makes khushi's heart beat faster. nice way to put it Indi di.. the whole thing had too much of a playing detective feel to it.. nancy drew, miss marple were more believable than this duo by the way..

no, not just that. with whom her heartbeat is one.

hamari dhadkaney ek ho jati hai.

when you are close to me, our heartbeats become one, a man with flowing tenderness and love had said at a poolside to a girl who wanted to know, why? why does this happen? when you're near me my heartbeats quicken?

today that man is in the hands of vile revolver toting men and the girl searches frantically for him.

where exactly do writers think, comedy fits in in the middle of it?

sometimes i really wonder about caring for what you do... not only because you are paid to do it, but because you believe you have the talent to do it, you want to, you almost need to. writing somewhere is a bit of compulsion... i write enough and more to have started to understand that. its actually true for anything.. pride in one's work whatever it might be.

i can never ever understand why writers lost it because one actor would not be around for a bit over a month... though actually he was available to shoot often... and it was quite possible to stay sane and centred through this not too long a span of time.

after the spectacular 266 and 267, what makes a writer come to 269 or 270 or 271... i just don't get. maybe they thought we can let the brains rest we gave them enough to be happy about for this week. lets not pamper the audience too much.. poor writers with short memory span and frequent bouts of forgetiya syndrome forgot they had already set the bar too high for us..

sanaya irani is a powerful actress.

the love story is absolutely established.

the viewer is engrossed in it. there are beautiful scenes that may be brought on through flashbacks and other means. or, i am sure there are many rushes, especially of the two hugs and the hut sequence that can be edited differently and used. what's more, barun sobti will come in for a shoot every now and then so you can have fresh shots...

surely one can stay cogent while telling the tale of asr's kidnap and not turn to disjointed story, strange comedy, and a tinny feel to it all. instead of fretting about what will happen if the audience misses barun, had they taken this opportunity to give the whole kidnap tale meaning i have a feeling this turning to ridiculous comedy might not have happened. Indi di I have a feeling keeping it sad for all the while might have felt more dragging, but even the quality of comedy I feel dropped drastically. I was seeing a few episodes with lavanya and Arhar ki daal became ASR ki daal and sounded quite delightful. But mamiji talking about manchurian and Khushi managin to reverse pick pocketer was simply weird.

in fact, now that i think, it was the ideal time to really develop why the kidnap, why the will was important, what the whole thing was about...

and what happened to the directors? that opening sequence of someone trying to drop something on mami ji, or the chase in the toy shop... why so fake? when the same guys are doing the beautifully shot hugs and hut?

also, no matter what, asr's wife and aunt cannot be shown haring around delhi in autos... if they can't use the raizada cars for the sake of anonymity or whatever, both have the wherewithal to hire a car.

after a lot of rushing and hiding and fretting, we came to rocky's kitchen and he pulled a little stunt.

again, something just was not scary about the whole thing.

in fact, while the cloak and dagger stuff was going on at the toy shop, i noticed the teddy type goon had a lot of profile shots... maybe the director was enamoured of profiles for a particular reason. 😆 I also took a few screen shots of this particular goon. I might ahve to keep my eyes open he mus be a happy smiling halwai with a gamcha over his head in some other show.

my one happy moment in 270, mami saying, "exshkooz me, khisko!" nice dialogue. truly bizarre.

Had more fun reading than the fake episode obviously Indi di.. there was some random Indian show coming on television yesterday and I saw a few minutes and trust me.. in front of that even this episode is a classic.. hahaha.. am smug and have a superior air about our choice in TV show now.. and also for a brief moment looked at these people at IPK with a more indulgent air..

Episode 271

Last episode I had sadistically hoped that Rocky figure out Khushi and mamiji are hidden right there because he was standing so close and the show wanted us to believe their whispers and churiyon ki khanak would not be heard outside. Still when Rocky with the psychotic glare and gun in hand caught Khushi I felt bad for my traitorous thoughts of wanting this to happen. As I repeatedly like to mention, am watching all this for the first time, or because it was boring my mind has elected to embrace selective amnesia and has forgotten all this from a prior watch. So I also thought if Rocky gets her now she might be locked in with ASR , since the kidnappers are dumb enough to do exactly such a thing, and that might also lead to some nice sequences. Incisive and sanka ideas combined they would be unstoppable by these mere hired second grade kidnappers.
What happened next was quite fun to watch. Like a Bollywood movie which is only meant to entertain and has to be taken at its face value without much thought.. Will quote a line from a recent movie.." main bas dil mein aata hun, saajh mein nahi.." Mami went Salman khan like and threw chilli powder on poor Rocky. ASR had pummeled him to pulp last time he met Khushi and not he is hit by a steel kalchul by mamiji. This guy sure is having a bad time these days. Ofcourse he has learnt to say "dammit" from his prisoner it seems. May have been taking style notes from the inherently stylish ASR. And something very sweet about mamiji turning kali maa for Arnav bitwa. Kicks and a little gaali galouch also Manorma ishtyle ma. So there is anger and a deep sense of worry for bitwa somewhere inside the garish comic exterior.

However what I didn't like was Khushi acting all abla nari damsel in distress like. Surely she could have used the situation to her advantage. Am not sure how, but am sure she would have known, after all Khushi Kumari Gupta had the ingenuity to add misri in the petrol tank. She also had the courage to face the steely eyed arrogant and devastatingly handsome mean stranger. "Ganga Jamuna daily soap bahut jiade hi hui gaya.. ike stop karike pari.." .. Neatly summed up mamiji. In fact she is exactly like babua, not wanting too much vociferous gratitude from phatee saree.
Boss is definitely Shyam from the silhouette. What I wonder is not the why and hows of the kidnapping or the will, but what prompted the man to take such a drastic step. Sure ASR had made his reach to money more difficult, but men like Shyam with their parasitic tendency veer towards weaseling their way in and keeping people happy to slowly suck blood. They don't go about plotting kidnapping and murder. How he kept everyone in Shantivan and GH happy seems true to character of such a man. A mask of goodness so that he can go off doing his own thing and his wife will not think of suspecting the ideal husband he pretends to be. He would not have the guts to try something this risky. Foremost for such men is their own survival and comfort. Mind games.. sure. Boss and guns and goons.. Daiyya re..
What I wanted to delay is finally on screen now. ASR in a filthy vest. Hands bound behind. Eyes in a blindfold. Jerky awkward movements of a man not able to see. And though there is vitality I feel a sense of helplessness. Energy is his forte.. Not necessarily physical, but in his thoughts, the way he does business, handles stuff.. Everything shouted of power and strength and control. Being restrained must be hell for him. Barun makes me almost want to revert my eyes from the screen, it feels so unnerving seeing ASR this way.
Khushi who already suspected Shyam is unable to recognize his profile. Boss does some filmy hand movements. Just pointing his finger and they know what he is saying apparently.
And then unexpectedly, after four episodes, finally the stirring of my heart.. Did you notice? Barun doesn't even have his famed eyes open and towards us. Only a voiceover, he is not saying his dialogues out loud like every other actor mostly does. Only the straining muscles in his neck. The jaws and adams apple working ferociously. And a truthful disregard to trying to look good, just convey the agony with full sincerity to the viewer. She can't be here. Can't be in danger for his sake again.
He knows she is here.. The neck angles out.. Reaching towards her.. And she feels it too. Has to.

I try to make sense of the characters' actions so the banging on the door does not sit too well with me. I don't think ASR would senselessly loose energy even though he might have wanted to rattle the kidnappers and show them he cannot be tied down. Formal black shoes, black trousers and a grimy banyan.. A man unable to use his eyes or hands fighting three men surrounding him at the same time.. And yet it all felt harrowingly real.. could be a gladiator in an arena in some distant world.. Too real.. I can't even like it because it makes me realize he is in captivity.. He is kidnapped. This isn't his usual corporate playground, uncouth ruthless unfeeling men surround him. Unfairness has a whole different meaning here. His body too lean.. It feels too brutal. It feels too cruel. I can't watch.
And then she sees him in a terrible condition, being carried away. The melancholic wail of rabba ve is befitting here. Did I moments ago think this was all a TV show. Hardly.. This is tragedy. What must have Khushi gone through seeing her man reduced to such a state? Everything inside me recoiled seeing him this way. Mami keeps a sane head. Shows strength of her character. And Khushi leaving behind logic and her running after the van simply shows love. .. The three piece suit, the air of ownership, the flair, the panache that ASR personified as he yelled and got things done.. Boo hoo.. This is unbearable really..

Should we be looking for clues? Then I think they are holding Arnav in some antique shop's warehouse or maybe it is the production house storehouse for sets. There is an old settee where ASR lies and a rocking chair where boss gets to act like a menacing villian. The lighting and shots of Barun somehow reminded me of Amitabh Bachchan in quite a few movies where he would be caught by the villain.
And why this dubious rocking Shyam with those funny hand gestures? And above all why the senseless extreme violence? Would ASR have lunged at a man when so many people were around to definitely overpower him? Wouldn't it have been smarter to wait and see how the scene plays out? To try and draw out the identity of this fabled 'boss' using brains instead of brawn? And I won't even go into why when Shyam is right in front of ASR, in fact so close that ASR has his hands firmly on the mystery man's collar, yet ASR still doesn't know who he is.
Finally I warn all those goondas..in fact consider this a threat.. if you dare hit ASR again like that all of us with mirchi powder, haldi, namak, belnas, kalchuls and whatever we have in our kitchens will descend upon you and haunt you till your death..

Please please don't show him this way.

Ladies,
124 onwards next few, I must have said this a gazillion times.. hard to believe, were written by people who are not professional psychologists. The depth, melancholy, the subtext to every word, the maturity and the fragility...unbelievably heart touching, yet nothing melodramatic .. everything subtle that is classic IPK..the bechaini, the pareshani, the farq.. everything spoke in volumes...
One of those rarest times when Khushi was composed, sensitive, and strong.. is broken inside into pieces yet she couldn't resist trying to comfort him, she was a woman in love, the khushi I loved immense..
and him, just wanted to give him a hug and tell him not to pain himself so much.. that everything will be just fine .. Anjali couldn't read.. couldn't do that.. alas...even after that soliloquy..
His emotions for Khushi should have been obvious to anjali ever since the guest house when he confided in being worried for Khushi to this soliloquy.. yet her denial to that looked almost identical to her being in denial about her husband.. may be she was conservative not being able/ willing to think about having feelings for another girl while he already has a gf..
but, the clich "good wins over evil" seems true.. as the goodness of these episodes still pulls us here even after all the later cribs and complaints..

Friendship day!
Personally had major issues being online and putting oneself out there. Being here is a big step for me. And now seeing one of you write "Kizh" warms the cockles of my heart! So to friends found in the most unlikely of places, cheers!
And Indu, what you wrote about 124 and onwards, bang on. Guess that's why we're still here!
