The four Days!
Chapter-42:
Thirukkural: (Chapter-62; Poem-620)
They who labor on, without fear and without fainting will see even fate (put) behind their back.
-Thiruvalluvar.
Arjun suddenly said, "The box!"
We were shocked to hear that and turned to see a big box sitting in one corner of the hall. We reached the box, it was not locked and it was empty.
Ayesha said, "I saw many of these types of boxes in one room and why, I saw one in the head's room."
Chottu and Ayesha ran toward the head's room. There was one box of that type, but it too was empty.
Ayesha informed it through the ear piece.
We went to the room in which the prisoners were stuffed, for an explanation but saw that none was conscious to talk.
Now, we had not much choice, but to search the other room filled with many boxes.
"Go and search!", Arjun ordered us, "It won't be a problem. The sound of searching won't spoil our plan. He'll take it for work in progress."
We started for the room as he too joined us. Ayesha led us to the room.
As entering in, Arjun remembered a room he visited was filled with boxes, with jutted out nails on them, in a basement of a forsaken house!
He shook his head to shake the thought from his mind and looked the surroundings.
The room was filled with hundreds of similar boxes!
They were 6"*3" each and were heavy to handle.
Once entered we got that not every box was sealed and latched, but most of them were!
If there was a good thing to mention, it was that every box was attached with wheels and we guessed it was for the purpose of shipment.
We started searching!
#
"Sir, he is coming!"
A man from the corner of the street informed.
As planned, they let the vehicle in and encircled it. The boss came into our hands as a piece of cake.
The team of twenty men joined us.
The boss looked bewilderingly as he was confessing, it was box no- 125, at which she was going to be transported.
We got that every box was numbered!
The boss was surprised when he came to know that the box was not in view let alone ready for transportation.
Our job was diminished just to search that particular box.
Suddenly, someone shouted, "It's here!"
The box was different from the others. It was equipped with a hole on its lid to provide oxygen for the girl while transporting.
Everybody moved to the box, let everything as such.
But the voice, It's empty!' made us cease in our tracks.
The head said with a shrug, "How can I know? I've come just now!"
That triggered Chottu; he angrily turned towards the group of prisoners.
After five minutes from he entered into the room, one started talking.
He accepted that, once he came to know that we had entered into the building, he switched her from that box to another sealed box and he swore that he did not know the number. Once switched, he had moved it with the other boxes, to hide her from the police, if we raided the place. He could not identify it after all, now, he pleaded.
Now, our search had reached yet another level- Nearly an impossible level in short.
We had to check every single box now, for some of the other boxes were packed with machineries for transportation in that room along with this particular box.
Suddenly, the truth that she was dumped inside a sealed box there for nearly an hour now, made us think the chances of survival of the girl, once found, if any. And we came to know that she was under drug this long.
Arjun made his mind up and clapped his hands aloud to shatter our trance.
"Guys! Come on! We are running out of time! She must be struggling for breathing by this, if she is conscious. Move the empty boxes to one side!"
He ordered, "See, he couldn't have moved much boxes singly," he reasoned with the matter, "With all these equipments filled in."
"Check the packed boxes! First put a hole on the lid! I repeat, put a hole on the lid at the centre, not anywhere, for she may be in a sitting position. Careful! Drill just to the depth of the lid."
He turned to the group of men standing near the door," Boys, you go and get drillers and knifes or cutters from the tools room!"
"Move in pairs, guys! One to use the driller when the other to remove the seal and the latch!"
Once planned, it was easy for us.
We moved the empty boxes to one side of the room in a flash.
The sound of the wheels shrilled in our ears.
Now we had to check the packed, sealed boxes.
The men returned with the tools.
Paramedics and vans had arrived then.
Arjun paired with some official and was searching the boxes in a bustle.
He chose to open the seal and latch, for the drilling seemed as a slow process to him.
It seemed as though his legs did not touch the floor.
He opened every box in a lightning speed as the officer drilled fast and moved with him.
Chottu was doing the drilling and was drilling every box as though he was going to shatter the whole box and if she was inside we could get her out of it through that opening itself. Before his partner cut the seal, he drilled and unlatched every box and was moving continuously.
The sound of cutting and drilling heard everywhere and were deafening.
The sound of moving boxes to make way further increased and filled the floor.
The scratching sound came to an end at last.
After a meticulous search of twenty minutes, we heard the melodious voice, "She's here!"
