Khushi was disconcertingly perplexed at the way he spoke with her. Whats with him being so calm and collected, use to naraaz hona chahiye, he wasn't even letting me explain a few seconds ago to ab kya? Where has his gargantuan anger disappeared to and more prominently, why in hell is he flashing me with that ever so tempting KILLER smirk?

"Arnav, I dint understand one thing, tum YAHA kya kar rahe ho?" Now that the initial excitement had surely subsided, this was the first curious thought her juggling mind produced.

Arnav who has already set his strategies to release the bottled up emotions out of that pretty little mouth of hers, couldn't help but chuckle at her impatience to solve the Why-am-I-called-here mystery. He raised his one eyebrow, gesturing and questioning her in his own way, to guess the reason.

Understanding the look in his eyes, she let her eyes rove against the entire setup once more but still remained as clueless as a goose in a gyren. She glanced upon him not before thouroughly inspecting and openly admiring the settings all over again and then unable to keep up with her curiosity anymore, she questioned him driven almost to the edge, "Shweta ne to mujhse se kaha tha ke..."

"ke yaha ek doctors ki meeting hai, yahi naa?" Arnav completed it for her and Khushi only gaped. Ise kaise pata chala?

"Now before you ask me ke mujhe kaise pata let me tell you, maine hi use aisa karne ko kaha tha" watching her stunned expression and the adorable 3 O's that graced her face, he gulped pretty much audibly to put atleast a momentary break to his raging and began further clarifying things for her.

Arnav: Actually Khushi, I have planned a surprise.

Khushi: Surprise?

Arnav: yeah a surprise, (Staring deep in her eyes) for Sameera.

Khushi who was staring down at her lap raised her head and inadvertently her gaze again fell on her surroundings. So these beautiful decorations, these heart-warming settings, these wonderfully set up marquee and these amazingly prearranged romantic date wasn't meant for her. Ofcourse all these is done for Sameera, after all he loves her, they were going to get married and he only wishes to surprise his fiance, whats so wrong in it? I..its completely alright. But then, why was she feeling her heart trouncing so violently? As though someone has slipped a cold hand inside of her and was crushing her fragile heart making sure she excruciatingly bleeds to death!

Khushi took a moment or so to gain back her composure that was in a perfidious danger of slipping away since the moment he confessed his intentions. Gathering her broken pieces and attempting a brave smile she finally looked up at him but the moment their gazes clashed, she couldn't help conveying her weightily guarded emotions through their most intimately connected organ - their eyes.

She looked deep into his molten chocolaty eyes with mixed emotions and Arnav easily noticed the slightest tinges of disappointment, hurt, betrayal, pain and sadness in her eyes. He felt aweful to hurt her even after all that she had gone through but at the same time his mind alerted him that these was necessary. She had to realize that she can't take any decision just to make him happy even after fully realizing its unconstructiveness.

He cleared his throat and started his monologue, knowing well in advance that she wont be able to answer him in between.

Arnav: After you were gone, I wasn't how I used to be Khushi. I was, quite justifiably, very upset and angry with YOU as well as the circumstances. But since you weren't there to calm my frenzied nerves and soothe my burning temper, someone or the other had to bear the brunt of it almost like, everyday.

I am not blaming you in this because I know you had your own reasons bestie, but I would be lying if I say that I was okay with it. Absolutely not! Your decision of going away bothered me to no limit and if it was in my hands I would have never let you go. But you had already made up your mind and my denial dint changed anything.

Khushi: no Arnav aisa nahi hai...Please just try and understand that..

Arnav: Bestie, Please let me finish. (Taking a deep breathe he rose from his seat and turned his back on her, ready to shoot a freshly produced, brand new set of horrible lies)

Huh! So where was I? oh yeah, so After you left me , I became aloof from everyone, even the wedding preparation dint excited me since my bestie wasn't there by my side. Us waqt, sirf Sameera hi thi jisne mere kareeb aane ki galti ki and when my tolerance crossed its brink, all my built up frustration got directed to her. Without any mistake of hers, she became the victim of my wrath unleashed.

Aur you know Khushi, I feel so guilty about it. Most of the time she was only trying to help me, infact not only me she helped everyone. She shouldered and single handledly managed every responsibility that was supposed to be YOUR job. She had almost taken up your position in our family Khushi. Everyone were so happy with the way she was conducting herself, making everyone smile with her genuine efforts and chirpy ways."

Even after anticipating the entire shebang, even after setting up her mind to accept the worst case scenario, even after fabricating head strong feelings to face the reality of her life, the callousness of the situation hit her hard. So hard that she felt it difficult to breathe. How easily he spoke that Sameera had taken my place in the family. MY place. Something that should have been exclusively mine regardless of any condition, regardless of the fact whether I am physically present there or not. It means S..Sameera has indeed won everyone's heart. She won and I, lost.

The guilt that she was feeling when he confessed about venting out his frustration owing to HER absence on Sameera vanished instantly listening to his next words. But she perfectly masked everything, not giving a tiny insinuation of her true sentiments and urged him to go on.

Arnav: But you know naa bestie, I realize the worth of my loved ones only after I have somehow or the other shattered theirs heart or hurt them terribly. The same thing happened with Sameera. She couldn't see me distant and unhappy but I wasn't thinking. I wanted to be left alone and when she dint oblidged I just burst out all of my anger on her, asking her to go away from my life.

At that moment she felt like an intruder in my personal space, I never realized that my personal space was no more ONLY MINE. She has all rights to be a part of my world being my fiance. I got so pissed off, I simply asked her to leave. I said if she wants to see me happy, she will have to go away from me.

Khushi forgot to blink, directing her piercing gaze solely on him who without taking any notice of her reaction continued,

"When I asked her to go she should have opposed the idea isn't it bestie? I mean she should have known that my happiness was only with her and whatever nonsense I was speaking at that moment was just my frustration getting better of the sane me. But do you know what she did? (He turned to face her, looking shrilly into her astounded pair of eyes, measuring the depths of her soul with mind-numbing intensity) Khushi, she agreed."

Khushi on her part, gulped. She recalled her own actions. She too wanted to retort back to Sameera and share everything with Arnav but she couldn't do so, not when his future was at stake. His happiness was her first priority, always!

Arnav: All she needed was a shove from my side and without further ado, she so inconsiderately followed my words, not my reason behind saying so. She couldn't read my heart Khushi. Do you think, I was happy to push her away? That I would have seriously wanted her to leave especially at the time when I needed her the most. Coudnt she apprehend my unsaid plea? I was so hurt because of her instant agreement bestie. Her one decision affected so many lives. Our family, her parents and ME. I was so hurt. Maine aisa kabhi bhi nahi chaha tha. But It took her just one reckless upsurge from my end and she forgot all that we shared for years. She thought, I will actually be happy if she left me.

He shut his eyes hell tight to make his pain appear more raw and oozing. He knew he was playing with her nerves and she won't think twice to kill him once the actual truth was out of the box but for now, he will have to play his part of a perfect distraught devdaas, sharing the grief of his paaro leaving him with his darling alchol-mate, chunnilal.

Wait, Khushi and chunni lal?

Err, something like that. Very well Arnav, do not melt now, the show must go on.

Arnav: Khushi, Can you answer my one question. I really need to understand sameera's prespective, so that I can dedice what went wrong with us. (At her slight nod, he continued) Please tell me, what would YOU have done if you were at her place?

There he dropped the bomb, trying to make it appear a casual question but only his heart knew the trumpeting ricochets of victory resounding inside.

"Let's just suppose that someone proclaimed my happiness resides in your leaving me. Would you have agreed such nonsense? Would you have left me without even talking it out with me? Ofocurse no, naah? I mean that's so foolish on anyone's part to blindly trust an outsider speaking about on our best friend's behalf. I know, my khushi can never do anything of such sort. And that's because you know, your arnav can never be happy without you. Like a creeper, he relies on you for support, assurance and care. He needs you in every single step of his life. His whole world is incomplete without you. Our bond is so strong that it can't be broken by any interloper decreeing anything bogus haina khushi?"

His eagle eyes settled permanently on her face as he perpetually scrutinized the effect of his words upon her. He knew that she now needs time. Time to gather what all he spoke and read between the lines. Time to grasp that concerning about him was one thing but sacrificing her wishes under anyone's influence was totally wrong. She should have never done that, atleast not before speaking about it all with him. But as always, when his sweetheart makes up her mind and gets into that self-sacrificing mode, its damn difficult to get her senses back in order.
