Smita uses steroids to cleanse skin By: Vickey Lalwani June 18, 2007
Average-looking Idol 3 contestant no more believes that true beauty lies within
Clearing UP: Smita Adhikari
What a volte-face this one has turned out to be! Indian Idol 3 contestant Smita Adhikari, who vowed revenge against judge Annu Malik for his uncharitable remarks against her in the audition rounds (a few days back, she had bared her heart to HiTLIST about Annu claiming she has a depressing personality), is now undergoing skin treatment at Kaya Skin Clinic in Mulund.
Smita, one of the ten finalists, feels she must get rid of blackheads and pimples on her face to spruce up her personality.
Talking to HiTLIST about the painful treatment, Smita says, "The people from Sony took me to Kaya on Wednesday. It was quite painful but I'm fine now," she says.
Smita says that since her schedule is not hectic right now, she has time to get the treatment.
But a source says, "Smita has realised that this is a big platform where a good voice is just as important as presentation. Here, people don't only listen to the voice, they also go by your looks.
The realisation dawned on Smita when Alisha Chinai recently told her that she needs a makeover. Sony is bearing the cost of the treatment, so she decided to go for it."
Told ya so: Annu Malik
Image-conscious
Earlier, Smita wasn't particularly bothered about her looks. "But suddenly, she has become very image conscious. She looked gawky on stage and this was affecting her performance.
So now she's been wearing glamorous clothes to try to distract viewers. She has also tried to copy another contestant who has been doing well. Her desire to win this competition is responsible for these actions. Seeing this, Sony has decided to intervene and help her," the source adds.
What is appalling is that Smita says she has been given steroids to cleanse off the acne on her face. "I've had pimples for a long time. Now, I am even taking steroids to cleanse them."
When told that consumption of steroids have serious side effects, Smita says she is unaware about it.
