This topic is not about the current or past story line of the show, but about how important social issues are handled in the show. Many many times the show has faltered on several aspects, but it has never faltered even once in its progressive outlook and that too in a non-fussy way and it is one thing that I truly admire about this show.
Inter-religious marriage - There are many questions raised for this impending wedding, but no one has uttered a single word about their different religions and I truly truly truly admire it. (I hope that the issue doesn't spring up later) Yes, they are people from two different religions - whether it is Aditya-Ayesha or Rubel-Nafisa (I am not endorsing whatever Nafisa did. She has done horrible things. And, yet I admire that Rubel being a person from another religion was never an issue to her)

Equality of Girl and Boy child - Avantika headed the Diwan Empire not only because she was a miserable separated daughter of a rich father who was given a business to rule over to divert her attention. Yes, this reason played a part, minuscule part. But, the major reason was that she was capable. She was a lot more capable than Anuj. And, she headed the business because she was competent and her brother didn't because he wasn't.

Even later when Sheila had created evil schemes after schemes to get property, Avantika clearly said that every child - son and daughter both have equal rights on their parents' property. It is a law and it is fair. Yes, Avantika had given up her share, because she didn't want to give chance someone like Sheila to speak ill-words that hurt her self-respect.

Even Preeti's pregnancy and later abortion was handled well. (I am not talking about how Harish was accused and Harish and Avantika led separate lives for 20 years because of it. There Avantika thought him to be unfaithful to him and it is a different issue.) An unwed girl's pregnancy was handled maturely by her family and even by her future husband.

Nanu and Dadaji - two wise old people, they have always been the most progressive people, ready to accept, even welcome change and new ideas. It was so heartwarming when Dadaji so easily replied "Walekum Assalam" to Ayesha's "Salam aalekum" or bid her good bye with "Khuda Hafiz." Change in faith or language never alters basic human emotions.

I am going to ignore characters like Sheila in this post. They exist in the show for a reason and I am looking past them.

Other shows also try to deal with such issues and a few do a good job, but most of them make such a hue and cry over such issues and tracks stretching up to months are dedicated to these issues. Weird camera angles, nonsense dialogues of vamps and useless bystanders, heavy melodrama and what not. Some of the shows try very hard to give a social message and result in epic failure.

Approach that PKDH takes is refreshing. It is non-melodramatic, mature, civilized, non-fussy, understated and classy. 👏 👏 👏

This show has disappointed me many times, but this is the one point where it has always shined and I hope that it keeps shining.

This is my opinion. If you disagree, kindly ignore.

Agree with your post!! Yes from the start I have always liked the fact that this show is quite modern and has a modern outlook towards life. Its not like other shows which get buried into cultures and traditions so much that they live in the old age despite being in this century.
Not much to say really...you said it all. This aspect of PKDH is wonderful as it is very realistic.

Thanks for making this post dear..!! You again made me proud of PKDH...!
Yeah that is one thing that made me hooked to this show.!!! Its totally modern, and the best thing is that girls and boys are EQUAL..👏.and sometimes I feel girls are more preferred over boys!!😃 that's what made Sheila what she is today..the fact that even being the son of the house Anuj didn't have a say in a single thing whereas Avantika had all the rights. That was the root of all problems!!!😉

Also I must say that the nani doesn't quite look her age.😆.even being 65 (atleast) years of age she wears jeans!!! 😎Love the fact that PKDH has never shown pallu claden bahus and betis...which is simply disgusting...🤢

And you are right...we were completely ignoring this inter-religion marriage!!! why! this is a social message and it has been handled so well without making a whole big issue of the fact like most other shows would have done! Kudos to CVs!!👏

I have been a loyal PKDH fan since the beginning if the show...and I promise I will continue being that. because, no matter what, PKDH is a very unique show.👍🏼👏

I would say this is the only show currently on air that has this quality and for its sake makers must be applauded.

Yes, Avantika being given more importance compared to Anuj caused Sheila to behave the way she did. But, Sheila belongs to old school of thought where the son gets everything irrespective of whether he deserves it or not which is pure wrong IMHO. I will admit Avantika was quite rude in earlier days and did not respect Sheila as a Bhabhi, but the other side of the coin is that when was that Shiela did something that deserved respect. Respected needs to be earned. Sheila wanted everything and still wants without doing anything just because she happens to be married to son of the family. I am glad that neither Avantika nor Preeti never gave in to her inane demands (yes, they did in some track which I found to be character assassination. But, most of the times they haven't.) As I said characters like Sheila have a purpose. They show ugly face of society and they add drama. So, let's leave them there.

Oh...yh...Nani...she is one beautiful lady and I love her dressing style. I was miffed when she had started wearing sari after the two year leap. There is nothing wrong with saree, but Nani looks so classy and yet modern in her jeans and kurtis and I was very glad to see her back in her previous avatar.

And you are right...we were completely ignoring this inter-religion marriage!!! why! this is a social message and it has been handled so well without making a whole big issue of the fact like most other shows would have done! Kudos to CVs!!👏

Yes, it is a big message said in a subtle manner and must be applauded.
