Deepu... will you please shut these two sherlock holmes mouths... and let me be in peace...😡
Slipping her shoulders through the satin robe, Anjali grabbed her favorite mug of hot coffee with one hand, while other snatched the newspaper from the coffee table. With her lips cautiously glued to the steaming rim, her eyes digging through the headlines, she took baby steps towards the balcony welcoming the serene morning rays.
Settling in the lounge chair, her eyes fell on the today's headlines ASR back in town: To save the fall of AR Ventures? and her lips instantly curled into happiness. Keeping the mug aside, she crossed her legs in butterfly position, her eyes curiously reading through every word of the article.
Slowly and generously her lips threw a happy grin only to stop abruptly reading about Khushi in the same article. She lifted her lashes as words of Aman echoed in her ears "He will never move on". She scrunched her face contemplating her next move and the next moment she found herself kicking her feet out of the position to run into her room.
Opening her laptop, she searched for the information she needed and noted it down on paper as a small smile played on her lips, almost hesitantly. Leaving SMS to Aman, You can have your breakfast with your Girlfriend, I have something important to take care of. Will see you for lunch, she sprinted off to get ready.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Standing infront of the 12 story Grey glass Skyscraper, that is split into 2 hemispheres, Anjali broke into a smile reading the company name BW Industries that is hung to the structure vertically and very artistically in massive letters.
The two sections of the building is curtained off with a connecting bridge giving that vintage london bridge charm. Excited and curious to see the life of a particular woman inside, she hurtled her feet and stopped in her tracks the moment she placed her foot inside. The interiors adorned with big picture windows, is glossed in black & white paint. The quaint country hangings, modern furniture, and spotless white marble floors screamed one room that always stood out in her entire life. And that is Arnav's room.
Anjali mutely squealed in excitement, already having an inclination of where Khushi stands with respect to her brother. But that came with a daunting realization that she came to meet Khushi without Arnav's knowledge. And one more step to meet Khushi, might put the sister-brother relation at risk, and so she reluctantly stepped back and called Aman to which, Aman got infuriated like never before asking her to come back. Sighing in discontent, she promised herself that she will be back and this time with her brother's permission.
Looking dapper in white and black business casual, Arnav stood at the entrance of RM sporting weeks beard, his eyes glued to the shaded gazebo at the other of the garden. The same place where they shared their first kiss on the day of holi. Pinching the bridge of his nose, forbearing the mindless thoughts to focus on the purpose of his visit, he turned his head as Aman opened the door for him. Arnav flinched his eyebrows questioningly to which Aman stepped aside sporting smile understanding his silent question.
Came to have breakfast with your sister but she happened to ditch me at the last min. Aman informed curving his lips into handsome smile.
I need to talk to you both. When will she be back? Arnav asked taking the couch in the living room.
Aman looked away hesitantly hiding something, which Arnav didnt fail to notice. But Arnav couldnt care less as he waited for the answer to his question. She is on her way, she will be here any moment.
Meanwhile Nani showed up sitting next to Arnav enquiring if he had breakfast. While Nani kept Arnav busy asking questions about his last night dinner and stay, Aman's eye fell on the newspaper article and he silently read Khushi's part just like Anjali.
Curiously lifting his head to look up at Arnav, Aman asked in cautious tone, Arnie, have you looked at today's newspaper?
Shaking his head in negative, Arnav outstretched his hand for the newspaper, questioning Why?
ASR is back, is the top headline of the today.
Arnav instantly nonchalantly dropped the idea of reading the paper and checked his watch impatiently.
Aman didnt force Arnav to read what he wanted him to read and left the matter instantly, one part of him already angry with Anjali for doing her own little investigation behind his buddy.
What's everyone doing? grieving my absence? Anjali rushed in with glee only to receive silent scowl from Aman. She squinted her eyes coyly pleading sorry, looping her hand around his arm, sitting next to him.
Arnav not caring their subtle nuances, took out papers from his back pocket and placed it on the coffee table, These are the event planners I have shortlisted, they are the best in handling marriages. Nani, I am assuming we first need to fix the time of the marriage? Arnav shifted little to get better look of Nani while she replied with a smile and a positive nod.
Whose marriage? Anjali leaned forward curiously while Aman already sensed what his friend is actually here for.
Who else need to get marry in this room other than you two? Sarcasm at full swing in Arnav's tone.
Anjali's eyes narrowed and snapped at Aman, Do you know about it?
Aman shook his head replying NO.
Bhai, Does marriage really matter in our relation? Dont you think we have crossed that stage?
I think she is righ...
You shut up Aman! Aman was about to end his statement when he was brusquely cut off by Arnav. You are right, marriage means nothing to Me. And it definitely dont have any place in my life. But it does mean quite a lot for the man sitting next to you, who had been waiting for you for more than a decade. Now you either agree willfully and get your dream wedding or I will have to take unconventional ways and make him tie the knot forcibly. Arnav firmly stated leaning back to his chair, as he watched the change of emotions in his sister's eyes.
What if you leave all of us once we get married? She asked with tears streaming in her eyes.
Indifferent Arnav instantly snapped, That is going to happen any way whether you marry or not! I have my life, my business, my house to take care of. I want you both to have your life. Its time you guys step out of my life. Arnav chose his words wisely to sound as bitter as he could.
That broke the all three's heart and they evidently flinched in agony. You didnt move to here for good? Aman asked his voice choked with emotions.
I will be here until I pay back everything you have done for me. Its about time I do something for you. Arnav looked at Aman meaningfully trying to explain himself as much and best as he could.
Bhai? Anjali's throat betrayed her, stopping her from saying anything..She turned to Nani for support, only to find her head lowered, tears rolling down her cheeks. Nani? Anjali called her nevertheless to put some sense to Arnav.
He is right beta. You guys should shape your lives. How long will you guys try to hold onto him. He has grown enough to handle his own life. Its time we listen to him and respect what he wants.
Anjali lowered her head, wiping tears knowing that once all this is over, her brother will become a loner. Wrapping arm around her shoulders, although understood what Arnav is going through, Aman couldnt come to terms with the feeling of anger, pain, anguish for about to let his friend to himself once again. And for the first time, he realized, how far his friend had gone away from their lives.
There are very few times Aman lowers his head, one of the very basic lesson Arnav taught years ago. And when he does, Arnav knows how deeply hurt his buddy is. But a subtle leniency in his decision, will throw these couple far away from each other, burying their happiness in the name of Arnav Singh Raizada. Arnav didnt want any of those burdens anymore. Getting up from his chair, he walked over to Anjali and sat next to her.
With his elbows on his knees, Arnav glued his eyes to the imaginary patterns on the marble floor as he went on. I am a loner Di, I will always be loner no matter what and how much you sacrifice. But he is not. I have seen him dreaming life with you. I have heard him talking about the mornings he like to spend with you. Dont you think we owe him that much? Dont you think that we are taking him for granted?
Arni..Aman tried to reach out to Arnav to let him know that his dreams are not as important as his buddy's presence in his life is, but as usual his friend knows him too well and he was cut off brusquely.
Didnt I ask you to shut up? Arnav roared from the other end of the couch trying to keep his cool to explain his sister.
Anjali took a long moment to think about her options. She need both men and in a way she felt Arnav is right. Aman had been the most suffering in their relation while she sulked over her brothers but her conscience didnt approve her decision to leave his brother to himself. She looked at Nani and smiled slyly to which Nani scrunched her eyes questioningly.
Her eyes gleamed covertly into one of those wait-and-watch-me confident smiles, as she made decision to deal his brother his way. You are right Bhai, I have been so insensitive all these years. She looked at Aman and winked at him with grin. For a moment Aman looked baffled unable to understand as she continued, But promise me that you will give me my dream wedding? She turned to Arnav stretching her hand out for a promise.
Promise and Anjali Singh Raizada never go well together as she is one of those who dont believe in promises yet she is asking for one. Arnav knows that fact too well but he already decided to give her dream wedding so nothing mattered to him at the moment as long as they settle into their lives without worrying about him.
Taking her hand into his as a seal of promise, he said in a laid-back tone, Give me every detail on how you want your wedding, I will hire event planner accordingly.
Anjali squealed in excitement hugging Arnav, Thank you Bhai, I know you will make my dreams come true.
He gently patted her back in assurance without needing any words, sealing the promise even better. Pulling away from hug, he asked Nani, You might want to get in touch with Mrs. Varma for wedding date and time, meanwhile you give...
Wait wait wait....Anjali jumped away almost falling over Aman. They will not have any clue about it, because I am not going for our traditional wedding.
Kya matlab? Nani asked creasing her forehead.
Nani, Bhai, Its Aman's dream to get married in south indian style, in perfect telugu wedding. She chose her words wisely not to take Arnav's wedding.
WHAT? Aman almost cried out when Anjali pinched his thigh covertly, to stop him from ruining her plans.
Nani and Aman snapped their heads to Arnav and almost shivered worriedly what Arnav is going to say. A moment of anguish washed over Arnav's features and it was evident from the pulse on his jaw that raced furiously battling the images of most memorable day of his life.
Bhai, its Aman's wish but if you dont like that idea, we will settle for traditional wedding. Anjali played her cards hoping Arnav will not say anything against his buddy's wishes.
But Arnav being Arnav learnt her and her tricks too well in last three years to deduce whose wish it actually is. DONE! Anything else? His voice as apathetic as it could ever be.
Just get me event planner who knows in and out about the telugu wedding.
Arnav nodded checking his phone, already making plans to leave the house. There was no limits to the happiness that bursted on Nani's face as she realized her granddaughter is on mission to bring light back into Arnav's life. On that note, she asked Anjali to accompany her to bring sweets to everyone to begin the celebrations.
Not realizing that ladies left to kitchen, Arnav looked up to leave when he found Aman looking at him with softened eyes. Shifting a little, Arnav for a moment looked away hesitantly. But realizing the pair of eyes not leaving him, he turned swiftly to explain himself when Aman showed his palm and stopped him from saying anything further.
Dont! You never need to explain to me. I understand what you are going through and why you are distancing yourself. Like always, I will oblige and will not bother you if you dont want me to. Arnav stared at Aman, feeling grateful that at least there is someone who could understand without a question. But in no time, his thoughts ruined with what came next.
You thought I will say such emotional dialogues. Never! Aman chuckled earning a scowl from Arnav.
Get a life Aman! Arnav glowered getting up from the chair while Aman still continued to laugh boisterously. As Arnav was about to leave, I am not going to leave you Arnie. You may want to hide anywhere you want, but I will always keep an eye on you, the way you looked after me all these years. You are talking about pay back isnt it? Then its my time as well to pay you back for the life you have given me. I am not going to let myself miss you. This is MY PROMISE to you.
Arnav stared at his friend for a longest moment, another defeat added to his resume of life. But this one is painfully sweet than the other bitter one. Lets get to AR!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Its been 2 months since Khushi had touched her son...the first and last time till date being the day she moved out of Arnav's life. Refusing to feed him milk, a huge chunk of savings went in to buy expensive milk powders. While Buaji had left her job right before Khushi's delivery, and Payal soon followed after Khushi and Arnav separation, there was literally no flow of monthly income. Without pressurizing Khushi, Buaji drained her savings while Payal strenuously looked for jobs around the town. The family of Buaji turned into a mess, Khushi being the worst taking depression pills, battling nightmares, refusing to mingle with anyone including family members, locking herself to the bed in one man's thoughts.
Madhumati waited patiently for her daughter to recover until one day when all her patience ran out when she found out the plummeting of the empire her daughter started to save the women. That day in the morning, the leads appointed to take care of the women along with NK showed up at Buaji's house pleading Khushi to come back to Mumbai. Listening to several stories of women who are turning baffled, losing their support system called Khushi, unable to understand how to lead their lives in the not so welcoming society after leaving the abusive profession behind, Buaji dragged Khushi out of her room to listen to the heart rending stories of the women, which is when Khushi remembered that there was whole lot of world waiting for her.
And more reasons added for Khushi to feel culpable. It was that day after the women left in dismay as Khushi gave them no hope of her return, Buaji decided enough is enough. Packing the baby clothes, she informed Khushi that she is taking Adarsh back to Arnav, so that he will know what to do with the child being Khushi's spouse and legal father.
If you are not ready to accept this child, either leave him where people can take good care or I will take him back to Arnav. At least he seems to be more compassionate than you are.
Instantly Khushi snatched the baby stopping Buaji and yelped in agony, Not to ruin his life one more time, I am punishing myself every moment leaving him. Why dont you people let him live in peace?
He is not important to me at the moment Khushi. You are important and your child as well. What kind of mother are you to let the baby cry for so long? Arent you ashamed of yourself? Buaji bursted out leaving Khushi baffled and heartbroken. She never wanted to hear those words, the words she once thought of her mother. You have no right to blame your mother. You just proved that you are worse than her, neither you could become a doting wife, a caring mother or a woman who promised herself to change lives.
Khushi's eyes rounded in shock, unable to believe the woman she adored her entire life uttered those to her. Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks as she felt deep pang in her heart.
I dont understand the purpose you left that man when you dont even know to take care of yourself. Kyun Khushi, what are you trying to achieve leaving him? Are you familiarizing these walls everyday that you were ra*ed and so your life ended? So what if you were taken advantage? So what someone went against your will and so what someone drilled themselves in you again and again...
STOP..please stop Bua..Stop...You are hurting me today...Khushi approached Bua and fell on her knees, her tears drenching Bua's feet helplessly, Please tell me I didnt do any mistake! Its not my mistake Bua, I am burning inside with pain, how could I let him see all of this? Please tell me I did right.
Fighting her tears back, Buaji looked away on her mission, I wish I could tell you Khushi. But you have let me down. I would have told you that you took right decision had you pulled your socks up and led your life like fighter. I dont know this Khushi who lost the battle. I will continue to think your decision wrong if this is what you have chosen for your life. Not only me, most importantly you have let him down Khushi. You just let everybody including him down!!! I am ashamed to say that you are my daughter.
Khushi's heart torn into pieces and leaped out of her chest. She took the responsibility of child not to let Arnav down like his mother. Buaji's words baffled her and she felt estranged from the world than ever. Standing up holding the baby in her arms, Khushi walked into her bedroom silently in defeat. I can never let him down! These words played like a chant on Khushi's lips as she closed the door behind her holding the baby.
The next morning Khushi knew what she needed to do to raise like phoenix for the man she loved. As Buaji, Payal and her mother watched, Carrying a small suitcase in one hand and baby on the other shoulder, She silently moved out of the house, to Mumbai to fight her battle, to finish what she has started, Le Fierte Women's Welfare!
Sapna...Khushi's voice sounded hesitant as she walked along the feeble frame on the dry sands of Juhu beach. I think I have an answer to your question you asked yesterday.
Am I termed as unfit to be woman if I refuse this child?
While Sapna listened to Khushi attentively, Khushi continued wrapping her arms around her knees letting her mind wander around the man of her heart. At one point I had everything in my life, the bestest of the best a woman could ever have. But life is never predictable, isnt it? Sometimes you have to let go your precious ones when you know you cant do justice to them. Same applies to your child, you need to make decision whats best for you and accept it wholeheartedly before the apprehensions eat you up alive. Whats important is what you feel about yourself and not what others think. Dont let anyone dictate you what you are and capable of.
I am scared Didi. I thought I will be able to pull it off but I dont think I can manage a baby. As much as I want to take care of her, I am also sad that my life ends there without any mistake of mine. I want a family Didi. I want someone who would love me for what I am and as long as this kid is with me, that person wont love me, even if he did, he may not accept my child wholeheartedly...And I dont want a compromised love Didi...I want a way out of it, I want a happy life.
Khushi nodded, clutching the young girls palms, I understand Sapna. I will put the baby up for adoption. Khushi looked away her eyes glistening with unshed tears remembering the night she left the letter for him, the night she decided their fate, the night she left herself with him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Striding through the reception area, Khushi instructed Deena, Get me prospective Parents list looking for adoption. Also send our team to photograph and prepare the bio-data of Sapna's Kid.
Right on it! Deena instantly got on her task but as an afterthought, she stopped Khushi in her tracks, What is the child's name?
Khushi turned around and gave a deep thought trying to recollect. I dont think She named her child yet. Connect me to AdiNav. Khushi flashing smile at other employees reached to Deena's desk and grabbed the phone.
Sapna, Have you named your child? We need one to prepare her documents for adoption.
Didi, I wanted to name her Pari. Shall we name her Pari?
Pari? the name almost came out as a whisper between her lips remembering how it sounded on his lips years ago.
Pari kyun?
Pari? Hmm you know like an angel...its along the lines of peace as well. for bringing you back into my life.
Pari Singh Raizada...
Her throat thickened in deep throes and Subconsciously the possessive side of her kicked in as she uttered, If she is Pari, why are you letting your angel away. Name her something else. Khushi brusquely hung up, and tried to move away needing to be alone to gather herself strong again.
But in meantime, Payal called her and forced her into her cabin saying there is something important to share.
Jiji, You might want to read this article.
Khushi scrunched her nose questioningly, grabbing the newspaper when Payal supplied further information, Its about Jiju!
Khushi snapped her eyes up for a moment, before snatching the paper as she uttered frantically, Is he OK?
Relax Jiji, He is fine, Payal pointed the article on the paper and left Khushi alone for her privacy.
Khushi's breath hitched in her throat seeing his face after so many years...The tears she arrested for all these years streamed down her cheeks soaking him on the newspaper.
Slumping into her leather chair, ignoring the persistent calls of Buaji, she whispered frighteningly, What have you done to yourself? ...
And Deepthi maintaining her silence on this is increasing our doubts. When she can kiss good night to kids in other room, then why did she not kiss or cuddle her own son???
Deepthi, thanks for the quick updates.
So Arnav and gang are back in Mumbai. Arnav wants his sister and his best friend to get married ASAP. But I liked Anjali's suggestion to marry in a telugu style wedding. I am waiting to see what her plans are.
I love this Aman more and more after each update. Only a lucky few people in this world get a friend like him.
I am not going to leave you Arnie. You may want to hide anywhere you want, but I will always keep an eye on you, the way you looked after me all these years. You are talking about pay back isnt it? Then its my time as well to pay you back for the life you have given me. I am not going to let myself miss you. This is MY PROMISE to you.
Just loved the above sentences.
Got some more insight about how Khushi finally started to gather her life back together again. Buaji is such a strong character. Looks like Khushi's life and her nature as a fighter has been influenced by this woman a lot.
I think Sapna took the correct decision. The little baby also deserves a good life and if by being adopted by loving parents is better for the little one, so be it. Afterall Sapna herself is still a child, hope she studies further and builds a better life for her in the future.
Finally the news article. It was written very professionally just like it was written by a journalist. I loved the photo too.
And then finally her statement "What have you done to yourself? ..."
I don't know what to write here Deepthi. What did Khushi think will happen after she leaves him and goes away? Had she thought that he will move on and find a new life, new happiness? If she had thought like that then I can only pity her for her false hopes.
Today if we see, for Khushi, Arnav's love and his memories though are hurting her yet she finds inspiration in them. Everyday she lives getting inspired by those memories, everyday she cherishes them.
But for Arnav the same memories are a reminder of her betrayal. Whenever he remembers them, he wants to forget them and not cherish them.
Thats the difference between these two today. The separation is hurting both of them, if for one its the driving force to live, for the other its the driving force to get torn apart.
Even if Khushi wants to go back to Arnav, will he be able to accept her back and trust her again???
