Pragya - The Damsel in Distress!!!

This is not bashing , and apologies in advance to Pragya lovers, but... No offence taken...you are free to post your point of view.

It is hard for me to digest a lot of things about Pragya's character.

1. She is an educated, independent, good enough gal, then why is she behaving like a victim of fate, crying in front of Abhi all the time, taking so much crap from hi, ok, if she doesn't care what he thinks of her, but how can she allow him to treat her like that in front of tanu????

Has she no self-respect???

Her character is based on Elinor from the book Sense and Sensibility. As far as I remember the novel, Elinor was not one to talk out in front of people, she was quite the introvert. In the case of Pragya I feel she keeps quiet because she has given up. She has realized that she can't change the way Tannu and Abhi perceive her. Also, she doesn't just start crying in front of Abhi at all times, she did today because he said ill things about her mother's sweater.

2. Again, she is an educated, independent, good enough, modern gal, then why couldn't she convince her mom that marriage is not the BE ALL AND END ALL of life.

You could have a doctorate in India yet the society will expect a girl to get married and live as a dutiful wife. 😆 Let's face the fact that she has tried many times but it went to no use. Also, they live in a middle class punjabi family who run a marriage hall! They literally dreamt of their daughters' marriages since the moment they were born. It's not that easy to convince people.

There is so much more to it, she could have continued as a professor, helped her family out etc etc. Instead they showed her eager to get married first to anybody at all and then misreading SURESH completely!!!🤢🤢🤢

How can she be so ignorant???

She was not eager to get married to anyone for personal reasons but because her mother's health was dependent on that one decision of hers. Also, the Suresh fiasco was pretty complicated so I wouldn't give her flack for that.

3. The most clich thing about this whole thing is the way she dresses, why is everyone else in the show dressing differently from her, everyone. If her family was conservative then why is Bulbul allowed to wear what she wears? If this dressing style is Pragya's choice, and people will say she is simple and sober - but not really - she sometimes comes across as mismatched and gaudy.

IF they will show a MODERN< EDUCATED< INDEPENDENT< PROFESSOR as a HELPLESS VICTIM OF FATE And all she does is either keeps quiet or cries whilst people torture her ...

THIS IS A VERY WRONG MESSAGE they are giving to the entire population.

And Bulbul, heights of clich - she had no sense of responsibility, she only started looking for a job recently - not sure how old she is ? Must be 25 atleast, if Pragya is 29...😡😡😡

But that's exactly the reason why they show that! Elinor was the sensible conservative girl with a rational mind while Marianne, her sister, was an outgoing girl that had no sense of responsibility and got flown away with emotions. It fits them perfectly.
