In Holi Episode they did show that Adi was drinking Bhaang with his friends and Shagun and Raman didnt care. Raman never told Shagun why she was not supervising Adi as they were both busy making each other jealous.

Raman even made Ishita apologize to both Mom and Beta

If he can drink Bhaang in his mother's and father's presence, god knows what he will do when alone. So the possibility that he was drinking something and caused an accident is not too shocking.
