Part 22

"Arnav ji,... I... love... you" Khushi nuzzled his neck as they lay on the bed, in each other's arms.

Arnav chuckled as he tilted his head down to see her cuddling to him.

"Accha? But just a moment ago, at the dining table, you told me you hate me, or I heard wrong?...Ouch!" Arnav yelped in pain as Khushi's teeth grazed his skin.

"You little brat! You want to play, ha? Lets play then..." Arnav pushed Khushi down on the bed and arresting her both hands on each sides, he hovered over her, careful not to put any pressure on her.

Khushi laughed and showed her tongue.

"Don't tease me Khushi, tumhare liya accha nahi hoga, do you get me?" Arnav whispered as he softly brushed his lips against hers, making her shudder.

"Accha? As if I am scared of you. Go and scare someone whom you can really scare, samjhe aap?" lifting her face, she trailed her lips from chin to his cheek, making him close his eyes in pure bliss.

Opening his eyes, he looked at Khushi's smiling face. How much he loves her? It's downright ridiculous how much he loves her. Arnav rested his forehead on hers with a sigh.

"Why do I love you so much? What IS love? Is this called love, what I feel for you? Then it's too dangerous. Too dangerous, Khushi. Because now there's no life without you. Absolutely nothing without you. "

Lifting her face little, she pecked his lips.

"Accha? Is it really that dangerous? Well, without me you can always go back to being that Khadoos Laad Governor, you once were. Or should I say, you still are. It's just that you pretend to be a loving husband in front of me, so that I can never leave you.." Khushi giggled.

Arnav glared at her with his accusing eyes.

"Accha? I pretend? I pretend? Arnav Singh Raizada pretends? Let me tell you, Arnav Singh Raizada never pretends anything. He doesn't need to. Got it, my dear wife?"

Instead of replying, she circled her arms around his neck and pulled him close to her.

"Arnav ji? I want to ask you something?" Khushi asked sweetly.

Arnav rolled his eyes. Now her "I love you", perfectly makes sense.

"And what is that?" Arnav asked.

"I...I want to attend tomorrows party." Khushi grinned.

"Stop grinning and No. You are not going anywhere." Arnav tried to break her hold but Khushi held it.

"But why? Everyone is going. Di is going, Aarav is going, you are going. Then why can't I. Why this injustice?"

"Stop whining, Khushi. I don't want you to come because I can't follow you everywhere so that you don't end up doing some crazy stuff. And I can't trust anyone with you. So it's better if you stay at home. No argument." Arnav pulled away and sat on the bed.

"I WILL argue. I will fight for my rights. You can't cage me here. " Khushi too sat on the bed.

"Whine for all you want, but you are not going. Get this thing clear. And now I have some work to finish, which I was forced to stop because you told you want to sleep with me. And now this is how you sleep, right? Now go to sleep. Everyone is going that doesn't mean you are going too..."

"You...*sob*...you always do this ... *sob*...You know at last you have to give in...*sob*...still you make me cry...and *sob*..and then you agree...*sob*...then why do you make me cry at first?... *sob*...Nani is also not going because of me...*sob*...I don't want her to stay back because of me...*sob*...you are a very bad husband...*sob*...I take my I love you back...*sob*...I..."

"STOP IT, KHUSHI! OK, you can come. Ok? Now stop crying, WILL YOU?"

"Sacchi?!" Khushi stood on the bed and Arnav was beside her in no time, holding her by her waist.

"Take my I love you. I love you. You are the best husband. I love you, Arnav ji..." Khushi hugged him.

"Where did your tears vanish to? ...Khushi..." he pulled back from the hug and looked up at her. "You are such a drama queen..." Arnav shook his head.

Khushi giggled and laid back on the bed. "Now go back to your work. I am sleepy." Khushi pulled the blanket over her.

Shaking his head at her, Arnav went back to his pending work.

...

"Aman, I hope everything is done. I don't want any complaints from the clients..." Arnav said in the phone and after getting the assurance from Aman, he ended the call. But soon after his phone came alive again.

"Yes Di. Where are you all?" Arnav asked.

"We are on our way to the hotel, Chhote. You don't worry, we will be on time" Anjali replied.

"Ok. Take care of Khushi, Di. I really don't trust her. It would have been good if she stayed back but no, she wants to attend this party..."

"It's ok, Chhote. She is fine. And you don't worry, I am there to take care of her." Anjali assured.

"Ok, Di. See you soon then. Bye.."

"Bye.." Anjali ended the call and looked sideways to look at Khushi.

"Aap Laad Governor se baat kar rahin thi na?" Khushi asked .

Anjali chuckled.

"Whom else do I call Chhote?"

"Hmm...What was he saying? I am sure he told you I am a fool, who can't take care of herself and asked you to catch my hand like a 5 year old baby."

Anjali laughed.

"No. He told nothing like that. He told take care of my pagal wife"

Khushi's mouth formed in an oval shape.

"I know. I know he thinks I am pagal..."

"Well, you see no other wife gets up at 5'o clock in the morning and makes Jalebis and demands ice-scream at 3 in the morning. So you see..." Anjali left the obvious hanging.

Khushi turned her face away.

"I will not talk with anyone. " Khushi kept her folded hands on her babybump.

Anjali shook her head at her craziness.

...

Khushi nodded her head like an obedient student.

"And you will not move from here, do you hear me?"

Khushi again nodded.

"I will be here as soon as I can. It doesn't matter how long I take, you will NOT move from here, do you get me?"

Khushi nodded again.

"I will search Aarav and send him to you, and you will NOT move from here, do you get me?"

Khushi nodded her head.

"If you want something then..."

"Still I will not move from here, I get you?" Khush grinned.

"No. Just call any waiter and he will serve anything you want, do you get me?" Arnav asked for the millionth time.

Khushi nodded her head like a bull.

"And stop nodding your head like that. You can speak, its not like you don't speak."

"Now go na. From one hour you are telling me you have some important clients to attend, but all you are doing is asking same question thousand times!"

"Ok...But don't forget, you will not move from here, ok?" Arnav asked and got up from his chair.

"Ji, I will not. It's so fun sitting here, why will I leave?" Khushi laughed sarcastically.

"Nice try. Now shut up and sit here" Arnav warned and exited from there.

Khushi drummed her fingers on the table, supporting her chin with her palm and roamed her eyes in the hall. Everyone was busy talking, no music, no dancing. What a boring thing. She had thought it will be fun, at least better than being caged in the room, but this party is proving her wrong.

"Ouchh.." a sudden yelp left her mouth as something bump into her chair from behind.

"I am sorry ...I am really sorry..."

"Aap?"

The man lifted his eyes to look at her.

"Khushi?"

"Aagam ji, aap yaha?" Khushi smiled.

"Yes..." Agam replied hesitantly, his eyes darting from her babybump to the ground. "I hope I have not hurt you...I am really sorry...It's just that it's little dark here and I was looking for my Nanu...I am really sorry..."

"It's ok..I am fine.." Khushi smiled. "Sit na, waise bhi I am so bored here.." Khushi invited.

Agam looked at Khushi for few seconds before sitting on the chair beside her.

"Agam ji, that day you brought Aarav back home safely and I didnt even thanked you. Thank you so much Agam ji. You have not just saved Arnav ji and Aarav , you have saved me. I can't imagine my life without these two. I can't thank you enough..." Khushi expressed her heartfelt gratitude. She don't know what problem Arnav ji has with him but for her he is the one who had saved her life.

"It's ok...no need to thank me..." As never heard this kind of sincere thank you in his entire life, he shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

Khushi stared at him as he looked straight ahead, not looking at Khushi.

"You know Agam ji? From left side you look like Arnav ji. That's why in your party I misunderstood you for Arnav ji..." Khushi said, still staring at him.

Agam looked at her.

"But still you knew I was not Arnav even before I pulled my mask..." Agam looked in her eyes.

Khushi giggled.

"That's a secret between me and Arnav ji. I can feel him and he can feel me. The moment I kept my hand on your shoulder, I knew you are not my Arnav ji.." Khushi finished smiling.

Agam's lips lifted into a rueful smile. Of-course he is not Arnav. How can he be Arnav? Arnav is a legitimate child of his parents, who got everything he needed. Love, money, name everything. Agam looked at Khushi. And he also has her.

"Kya soch rahen hai? Is there something on my face?" Khushi asked, rubbing her both cheek.

Agam shook his head and averted his eyes.

"Tell me something about you? About your family?" Khushi asked as she rested her face against her palm.

Agam smiled.

"There's nothing about me. My only family is my Nanu."

"Ok...Can I ask you something?" Khushi asked biting her lips.

Agam narrowed his eyes at her but still nodded.

"Why...Why is that Arnav ji is always so mad at you?" Khushi asked hesitantly.

"I don't know. I don't know why he is angry with me, when it should be the other way around..."Agam shrugged his shoulder.

"What?" Khushi asked confused.

"Nothing..." Agam smiled. He looked at her babybump. "I hope you are doing well...I mean the baby and you..."

Khushi's face lit up with excitement as she got an interesting topic.

"We are fine. You know everyone is so excited for the baby. Nani, Di, Aarav and Arnav ji, everyone. And me too.." Khushi giggled.

"Your baby is very lucky..." Agam smiled.

"Every baby is lucky, Agam ji. They get so much love and care from their parents. "

"Not all..." Agam looked at Khushi for few seconds before averting his eyes. "Not the baby who is thrown in the garbage just because his mother is too ashamed to accept him and the little baby, who knows nothing about how dirty the world is, is left all alone to pay for the deeds of his mother. Not the baby, who grows up listening to his parents fight and thinks what is he doing here and sleeps every night over this same question. Not the child you grows up listening to everyone's taunt, listening to the society addressing him as a bas***d..." Agam looked at Khushi and an unknown pain shot in his chest as he saw a pearl rolling down her cheek and her hand protectively wrapped around her swollen belly.

Agam got up from the chair and wiped her tear with his thumb. "I didn't mean to upset you...You don't worry. As I said, your baby is very lucky..." he patted her head and left from there.

Khushi saw the retreating figure of Agam ji as some more tears fell from her eyes.

"Mom! I brought juice for you."Aarav smiled and keeping the juice in front of his mother, he sat on the chair beside her.

Khsuhi wiped her tears and smiled at Aarav.

"Thank you Aarav. But I am not thirsty.."

"You are not thirsty but the baby is.." Aarav lightly poked the babybump.

Khushi smiled and took the glass.

"Mom, are you upset?" Aarav asked as he saw his mother suddenly all quiet.

Khushi kept the glass and looked at Aarav. Hugging Aarav sideway, she rested her face on his soft hair.

"Aarav, can I ask you something?" Khushi asked softly.

"Yes you can. What is it?" Aarav asked.

"Do you know anything about your parents?"

"Parents? You and Dad are my Parents.Of-course I know about you both.."

"No... I mean...I mean your...your rea...I mean your biological parents..."

Aarav pulled away from the hug and looked at his mother's worried face.

"I don't know...Mother Steffi told, she had found me near the church she visits every Sunday..." Aarav said and again hugged his mother. "But that doesn't matter anymore...Now you and Dad are my parents ...not the one who left me..."

Khushi nodded her head as eyes again filled with tears. Agam ji was right. Not every child is lucky.

Hope you enjoyed it! The big confrontation coming in the next part ;)
