CHAPTER 74 (A). PRELUDE TO CORPORATE PARTY!

Day - 5 Tuesday

Geet seemed to be a very popular person today. How do I know? Because before she could even start getting ready for the party that was about to start in few hours, two people had already come to visit her. The first one who came, left Geet really happy but the second one who came made her a bit annoyed and feeling like a courier boy. Who were her visitors? The first one was NT and the second one was Arnav. Errr... I think that already gave you the basic idea about why Geet seemed happy with the first visit and annoyed at the second but still I will narrate the whole scene to you as the visits are quite important for setting the stage for the corporate party!

When NT came into Geet's room, Geet was going through her clothes wondering what to wear for the Party. It is not that she had not bought new clothes for each occasion; infact the moment the marriage date was announced she had gone on shopping spree and the result of the shopping spree was that now she had four-five options for each occasion. So she went on going through the four sarees she had bought for the Corporate Party, wondering which one to wear. Backless waali pehnu ya Peacock design waali? Lekin yeh Pink waale ka color bhi ek dum badhiya hai? Hey Babaji! Main kya pehnu?

A knock on the door brought solution to her problems as NT entered the room. Geet smiled and welcomed her only to be handed a beautiful silver colored Saree. Geet stared at curiously and NT went on explain. "Geet, iss Saree ne aapke aur Maan Veerji ke love story mein toh koi role nahi play kiya, lekin isne aap dono ki dosti mein bahut important role play kiya hai!"

Geet understood that NT was referring to her life as Soni and frowned as she wondered about the Saree's story.

NT started narrating the story, "Jab pehli baar aap Soni bankar humaare ghar aayi thi tab kuch misunderstanding ke wajah se aap dono mein jhagda hua tha. Tab Maan Veerji ne aapko manaane ke liye Chocolates, teddy bear aur na jaane kya kya tohfe khareede the! Unmein se ek tohfa yeh Saree thi. Hum chaahte hain ki aaj raat aap yahi Saree pehne!" Aur Maan ke hosh udaadein! Was left unsaid but Geet understood the implied sentence.

Geet looked at the Saree with different light. This Saree was bought by Maan just for her. Perfect! She grinned eagerly at NT, "Phir toh aaj raat yahi Saree pehnungi main!"

NT smiled and both the ladies hugged. After chatting for a while, NT took her leave and Geet started dressing up.

By the time Arnav came to visit her, Geet was already wearing the Saree and her hair was also ready. Only thing left was to wear the matching earrings and as she lifted them to wear, a knock was on the door. She huffed and got up from her dressing table. She opened the door only to see a nervous Arnav standing there.

"AB?", Geet looked at him in confusion.

Arnav barged into the room without invitation and Geet rolled her eyes, "Andar aayiye AB!", she muttered sarcastically.

The moment she turned after shutting the door, Arnav thrust the bag he was holding into her hands.

Geet looked at the packet curiously as Arnav fidgeted with his hands.

"Yeh kya hai?" she opened the bag only to see a beautiful green colored Saree in it.

She was about to spout excitedly, Mere liye?' when she noticed Arnav's nervous expression.

That is when she understood whom exactly the Saree was for.

Geet smiled mischievously, "O ho! Abhi se KB ke liye shopping! AB! Shaadi toh hone do! Yahaan toh aap shaadi se pehle hi KB ke liye gifts khareed rahe ho! Next gift kya doge? Sexy nighty?"

Arnav looked at her in shock at her words and Geet was surprised to see his ears turning red. Hey Babaji! AB toh blush kar rahe hain!

Arnav cleared his throat and tried to gather himself together.

He tried to give her a stern glare, "That is enough motormouth! Mujhe chedna band karo aur jaake ise Khushi ko do!"

Arnav' attempt to glare had no effect on Geet as she giggled at Arnav's reddening face. Arnav narrowed his eyes and stormed away as Geet continued to giggle.

Once Arnav was gone, Geet stared at the Saree in her hand. Bas yahi kasar reh gayi thi! Apne Bhai aur Bhabhi ke beech mein courier waali bano! Chalo AB! Aapke liye itna toh kar hi sakti hoon! Yehi bhi kaam kar dungi!

Khushi was surprised when Geet entered her room with a smile on her face.

"Geetji? Aap yahaan?"

"Haan! Woh maine aaj shaam ke liye ek Saree choose ki hai! Tumhare liye! Wahi dene aayi hoon! Pehenogi na?"

Khushi smiled excitedly as Geet handed her the Saree and her expression turned into wonder as she stared at the Saree. It was so beautiful! Khushi mused. Hey Devi Maiyya! Kitni khoobsurat saree hai! She thanked Geet happily and soon Geet was off to finish getting ready while Khushi happily started getting ready.

Geet happily walked off to her room to get ready. Khushi was happy due to Saree, Arnav was happy as his lover was wearing the Saree he wanted her to wear and she was happy that she was wearing what Maan had gifted her once. Chalo! Aaj hum teeno happy hai! Lagta hai aaj sab kuch achcha hi hoga! Before she could think anymore, she crashed into a hard chest and would have fallen down if a hand had not grabbed her at her waist. Geet looked up at her savior only to see Maan Singh Khurana. She smiled happily at Maan as she raised her hands and looped them around his neck.

"Haaye Maan! Aap kaise har waqt mujhe bacha lete ho?", Geet spoke up dreamily.

Maan was stupefied for a second but then he came out of his thoughts. He pulled her hands away from his neck as he glared at her, "Geet!"

Geet smiled at him, "Haan haan! Yahi mera naam hai! Lekin aap chaaho toh mujhe Soni bhi bula sakte ho! After all, Shakespeare ne kahaan hai What's in a name?' Toh Soni bhi chalega!"

Maan gritted his teeth and closed his eyes. He pinched the bridge on his nose as he growled warningly, "Geet!"

Geet continued to smile, "Haaye! Aapke mooh se mera naam kitna pyaar lagta hai! Phir se bulaayiye na!"

Maan opened his eyes and looked at her with rage and that is when he noticed her attire.

Maan's eyes widened in fraction as he took in Geet's ensemble. It was the same Saree he had gifted her once. He looked at her with horror but Geet simply continued to smile.

Maan felt rage overtake him. How dare she wore his Soni's Saree? He grabbed her arms and shook her, "How dare you! Tumne himmat kaise ki meri Soni ki Saree pehenne ki?"

Geet looked at the hands holding her and looked back at Maan with pain.

"Maan!", she hissed as his grip gave her pain.

But Maan was lost in his rage, "Bolo!"

"Maan!", Geet shouted as she pulled away from him and pushed his hands away from her, "Aap bhool rahe hain ki main hi aapki Soni hoon! Toh iss Saree ko pehenka poora haq hai mujhe!"

Maan shook his head, "Nahi! Tum meri Soni nahi ho! Aur tumhein koi haq nahi banta yeh Saree pehenne ka!"

Before Geet could retort back, another voice could be heard, "Maan!"

Both turned to see Daadima storming towards them.

She glared at Maan with anger, "Aap Geet pe kyun chilla rahe hain?"

Maan glared at Geet, "Isse poochiye! Isne meri Soni ki Saree pehenne ki himmat kaise ki?"

Daadima continued to glare at Maan, "Inhonein himmat ki kyunki humne inhein yeh Saree di hai!"

Maan looked at Daadima aghast, "Kya? Aapne? Kyun?"

Daadima smiled at Geet, "Kyunki yeh Saree aapne inke liye hi khareedi thi! Aap chaahe maane ya na maane yahi Soni hai, aapki Soni! Toh behtar hoga ki aap bhi iss baat ko sweekar lein aur Geet ko apna adhikar dein!"

Maan looked at Daadima with betrayal and then at Geet angrily. Unable to handle the bitter truth, he stormed away.

Daadima turned towards Geet and gently patted her head, "Aap chinta na karein Geet beta! Humaare Maan thode ziddi hain! Aap bas sabar rakhein aur Maan ko apna banaane ki koshish mein lagi rahein! Ek na ek din Maan aapko jaroor apnaayenge!" Geet nodded and Daadima walked away.

Geet huffed. Lagta hai Jealousy Mission jald se jald start karna hi hoga! Warna yeh Maan toh apni zidd mein budhaape tak mujhse door bhaagte rahenge!

TRIVIA

For those who have forgotten the older chapters (which is possible coz I wrote the first chapter nearly two years back) here are the details about the older chapters I am referring to in the story.

1. The flashback which NT narrates happened in Chap. 16.

AUTHOR NOTE

This chapter was supposed to cover the whole Corporate Party but for three days I am sitting with a quarter finished chapter waiting for the light to be there when I have free time to write but the electricity is playing games here! Finally tired of waiting, I decided to put up whatever portion I have written down!

Hopefully, I will be able to cover the whole party in the next update!

It was from there they started on their journey to love of course

That's until khushi helped him out by telling him to get her something that he himself thought of and finally she forgave him

Maybe more so after seeing her in his gift I hope

So she didn't say it but she hopes that will happen
