CHAPTER-12.

How strange the human mind is-

It works in so many mazes complicated..

And when you feel you have solved it all-

You are back to square one,and standing confused where all of it had started..

Astha was shifted once again..!

She could not believe her eyes!

She had been shifted to work in the Business Development department now..And that meant..That meant she had to be in the same floor as Shlok..She quickly corrected herself,as a slight blush spread through her cheeks,Mr. Shlok Agnihotri..

But suddenly the feminist in her screamed out in protest..WHY WOULD HE DO IT?!Wasn't she good and competent in her last project?!She had worked so hard,that-..

Suddenly Astha felt a small paper fall lose from the envelope she had been handed by her colleague..

She opened it slowly..

It was a letter written in a very neat hand writing..

Dear Astha,

I know you might be pretty shocked and maybe also angry at me for this change.But believe me when I say this that it has been done with your well being in mind.

After last night's incident(I hope you get what I am referring to),I thought it would be best if we kept you in the office division.Ofcourse I have fired Sanjay,and no one need know what occurred last night.Still we should take steps and be careful as he might be around wanting to take revenge.

I hope you will understand my dilemma,and accept this post without any complaints.

Shlok Agnihotri.

Astha folded the letter and put it away in her purse,as a smile crept up her lips.She went on to report at her new post at quite a cheerful mood..

A secret smile on her lips,as she went about understanding her duties and taking orders from her new boss.

Between her works she kept staring at the door to Shlok Agnihotri;s office expecting to be called by him any moment now..

Morning changed to evening,and still no one called her..

At 4pm in the evening,she nearly jumped out of her seat when she saw Shlok's office door opening..

But her heart sank to the bottom,when she saw him walking out with a thoughtful frown,and he never even once glanced her way..!Of course if he knew where her office was,or even remembered posting her here!She thought woofully,as shameful tears pricked the back of her eyes..

Astha was not liking it at all,and she was especially not liking her own reaction to the man..!

The way she was behaving was PATHETIC in capital letters even in her own standard..

She remembered stories about office affairs,and how she used to get irked even at the sound of them..

No Astha Kirloskar!You are not going that way!She scolded herself and got busy in finishing off her day's work..

Maybe she would treat herself with a movie tonight and her favourite pizza..!She decided with a smile..

The next day Astha was much refreshed she had only looked at the CEO's office door four times today..!

She patted herself on the back..Things were improving alright..!

She made new friends in this floor too..

Three of her colleagues asked her if she was free for an evening out tomorrow,as it was weekend and Astha agreed readily..

That was what life was for wasn't it?It was for living!

Why she should she hide herself like a mouse in a hole?!She was young,she was free,she had a right to have fun..!

Her happiness dimmed a bit at the end of the day however,as she did not see even a single glimpse of Shlok Agnihotri.

The weekend was fun filled for Astha in a way,as she had great time with her colleagues-Aparna,Gauri and Shekhar..

But da next day of her holiday passed without any incident..So Astha decided to clean up her house and do some shopping..That would surely make her day..!

It did not..

The next Monday a very cheerful Astha begun her day with fresh aplomb..

She somehow felt positive that day..

Something in her told her things would be awesome that day..

And she was surprised when a peon walked up to her and said Shlok sir had called her..

Astha was almost jumping up,but then held herself back..

CALM ASTHA!Show him some attitude!She adviced herself..

And after ten minutes a very calm,suave and expressionless Astha entered Shlok Agnihotri's cabin.

Astha found herself not alone in the room..

To her utter disappointment,there were a number of other employees too!

It was regarding business!

Of course Astha!What did you expect?That THE SHLOK AGNIHOTRI would ask you for a dinner date?!A voice chided Astha from the back of her mind,and she took the jibe with a heavy heart.

But another surprise awaited her in the evening..

She had just received a file from Shlok and as she opened it to go through it,a blue paper fell out of it..

Frowning she picked it up from the floor..

Blue suits you..How about dinner tonight..?

S.A.

Astha could not believe what she was reading..Was this meant for her..?!And she was wearing a blue salwar suit today..!She did not even realise he had noticed!

Had Shlok Agnihotri asked her for dinner?!

She gulped nervously and looked around stealthily,as if someone might get to know her secret..

She put the slip away,and wrote another reply in another slip.

I have a dinner date already tonight.How about tomorrow?

A.K.

She placed the slip in the file,and asked the peon to take the file back to Shlok sir.

She looked at her watch.Five minutes had passed.

"Madam?Sir said you missed out a detail in here.."The peon's voice nearly made her jump out of her skin.

She nodded to him,and waited for him to leave.

She felt like a small child who might be caught with her hand in the cookie jar,as she opened the file to look for a reply.

There it was!

She sighed in relief as she quickly opened it.

Cancel it.Be ready at seven.

S.A.

A small smile crept up her lips and she tried to wipe it off as soon as it had come.

She decided to make him suffer for his earlier attitude and did not give any reply.

And instead sent an empty file back with the peon.

Astha quickly left the office,as it was almost her departure time,before the peon came back with the file again.

She dressed up carefully in a black salwar suit with bright pink embroidery..

She out on very kight makeup,just concentrating on a light shadow on her eyes,and soft pink touch to her lips..

She left her hair open..

She was just brushing her hair for the last time when the calling bell rang.

She let it ring for two more times before walking to open the door..

He should know she was not in a hurry to go out with him..

He stood leaning against the door frame,like a man who was completely at ease there..

His dark eyes scanned her from her black heels to her open silky strands,but to Astha's disappointment he did not say anything..Nor could she read anything from his masked expression.

He stood straight and indicated her outside..

"Shall we get going..?"

Astha nodded as she indicated she will get her purse first,and then followed after him into his black SUV.

She got in and closed the door,and then buckled up the seat belt,and yet he had not started the car.

Curiously she turned to face him,and in the muted light from the street lamp,she could barely see his expression.

"Are we waiting for something..?"She asked in a hesitated voice.

A few seconds strange silence..Which was followed by his stranger reply.

"Yes.."His soft reply had Astha more flabbergasted than ever.What was he talking about..?!

"What..?"She asked in confusion,still unable to read his expression.

"This.."Astha could just read the huskiness in his voice just before he pulled her halfway towards him,and captured her lips in a searing kiss..
