I Don't Know At Least The Book That I'm Following Says So, I Don't Have The First Few Lines (1 Line In The Book = 1 Paragraph Of The Epic) So Maybe The Author Has Written About It In Short Over There...I'll Clarify And Then If Necessary, I'll Add That In The Start Of The Next Chapter. 😊

Sage Shaunak Said, "O Sauti, Now I Wish To Hear The Tale Of Mahabharat Narrated By Sage Vaishampayan, On The Orders Of His Guru Sage Ved Vyas, At The Sarpa-satra Of King Janmejaya." Sauti Started,

Once, In King Bharat's Race, There Was A King Named Uparichar Vasu, Who Had Conquered The Kingdom Of Chedi. He Had Five Sons, Vrihadrath, The King Of Magadh, Pratyagraha, Manivahan, Mavella And Yadu. All Of Them Led Different Dynasties That Lasted For Years.

A River Called Suktimati, Flowed Through The Capital Of King Vasu. Once This River Was Attacked By A Mountain Called Kolahal. The King Saved The River By Crushing the Mountain, But Suktimati Gave Birth To Twins. Out Of Gratitude, The River Gave Her Children To the King. Vasu Made The Boy His Senapati (Leader Of The Army) And Married The Girl Who Was Called Girika.

One Day, When Girika Was Of The Age To Become A Mother, The King Was Away. So He Sent A Magical Seed For His Beautiful Wife To Swallow, Through A Hawk. But, On The Way, The Hawk Was Attacked By Another Of His Kind, And While Fighting, The First One Accidentally Dropped The Seed Into The River Of Yamuna, Which [Seed] Was Immediately Swallowed By A Fish. The Fish Was Actually An Apsara Named Adrika Who Was Turned Into A Fish By The Curse Of Lord Brahma.

In The 10th Month Of Her Pregnancy, She Was Caught By A Fisherman. The Latter Cut The Former's Stomach And Was Astounded To See Two Human Children Inside The Womb Of A Fish. The Apsara Was Relieved Of Her Curse, And She Went Back To The Heavens. The Fisherman Took The Children To Uparichar, His King, And Related The Incident. Uparichar Took The Boy As His Own Son And Gave The Girl As A Present To The Fisherman. The Boy Grew Up To Be A Virtuous King Called Matsya.

The Girl, Who Stayed With The Fisherman Hereafter, Was Called Satyavati. She Was Also Called Matsyagandha As She Always Smelled Like A Fish. One Day She Was Rowing A Boat On The Waters Of Yamuna, When Sage Parashar Came To Her. On Their Way To The Opposite Banks Of The River, The Sage, Enchanted By The Beauty Of Satyavati, Asked For A Son From Her. Satyavati Was Afraid Of Losing Her Virginity, But The Sage Promised To Restore Her Virginity Once Their Son Was Born. By Parashar's Boon Satyavati's Body Now Had Beautiful Fragrance Instead Of The Smell Of Fish. She Could Be Smelled From A Yojan (8 Miles; 8-14 KM), So She Was Also Called Yojangandha.

At Due Time Satyavati's Son Was Born In A Secluded Island And Was Known As Dwaipayan (Born In A Dweep Or Island). His Real Name Was Krishna But He Was Better Known As Vyas As He Had Divided The Vedas. He Taught His Son Shuk And Students Like Vaishampayan, The Epic Mahabharat That He Had Written.
