update 18jan kumkum

KK Devi is shocked and upset at the sleeveless kurta. It is Dadaji's
kurta but the sleeves have been cut off. KK runs down the stairs
after the Dhobi. No sign of him. She asks the Watchman who says he
must be still in the building. Dhobi turns up, KK asks him about the
kurta but he says that's how he recd it, he didn't do anything. KK
calls up Dadima from downstairs asking where Dadaji is. He's gone off
somewhere (spectacles shop I think) .. So KK runs out of the
compound. Straight into a smiling Dadaji ... who's safe and sound
with both arms intact. KK starts her 'darr'y blabber .. and Dadaji
smiles some more. Turns out there was some stain on the sleeves and
it was he himself who cut off the sleeves. Ha ha .. and here we had
already amputated his arms!

KK goes home and falls on the bed. All that darr has tired her out,
poor Devi. Dadima comes in and asks her what she is wearing that
evening for Malli's engagement and KK has no idea and is
disinterested. So Dadi says arrey you are the bahu of the house etc
etc .. and goes to the cupboard and pulls out a glittering dark blue
sari. And asks KK to wear it. Dadi tells her that she knows KK is
worried but doesn't know why etc etc. And that she must smile cos her
smile will make the rest of the Wadhwas smile. So KK decides to cheer
up.

Malli's friends tease her. KK and Naina are going to dress her up.
But Malli is sad. Why? Rahul bhaiya is not there. So KK Devi says she
will go and fetch him. The next several minutes are unnecessarily
devoted to KK/Naina talking about Rahul (like, who cares) .. Naina is
not willing to condone Rahul's behaviour but Devi of course is all
ready to bring him back. Then Naina says that Rahul has gone to
Bangalore to look for a job. And that he has left the company flat
that was given to him.

Engagement party. Kul and Dadaji have a conversation. Kul says that
this is such a simple affair unlike what the Wadhwas usually have.
Dadaji consoles him saying that they will soon get back their former
glory. Lots of those silly chawlwallahs arrive including Chashmish
Raghu (so much for getting chutkara from this lot) .. but for a
change they have only nice things to say about the Wadhwas. A boy
enters with a packet for Devi. She opens it and finds a red wedding
sari. Freaks out thinking it is Harpic who has sent it to her. Starts
to blabber but Kul comes and stops her, and tells her to go and get
Malli.

In Malli's room, all the Wadhwa ladies are waiting for the tailor!
Seems that the tailor has not returned with Malli's sari, which had
been given to stitch a fall. So Snake Bua asks KK, Do you have
another sari she can wear? KK hides the red sari she is carrying
behind her back .. and says, No. Thinking that she cannot give
Harpic's sari to Malli to wear. Then walks off. Bua asks, What's the
matter with her?

Back in the living room, everyone is waiting patiently for Malli. KK
is there too. And at last, a glimpse of our darling Su .. resplendent
and completely edible in a maroon ethnic outfit. In rolls Harpic -
the eternal bad penny - carrying a big box. Everyone looks shocked,
including Su .. he looks angry too.
