Chapter 2 - Triples
Surbhi and Karanvir reached to the destination. After a long walk, Surbhi had brought Karanvir to the place she wanted to take him to. "Why are we here?" Karanvir asked her.
"I told you along the way. I can introduce you to someone I know. Someone who can help you," Surbhi replied. "Have patience,na!"
"I dont need help with anything!" Karanvir exclaimed. "I don't even know why I followed you here."
"But you did...which proves you trust me.Right?"
"Possibly."
"Shall we go in now?"
"Fine."
The two were standing infront of an old house. Surbhi pulled up the garage door and she entered inside with Karanvir. Closing it, she and Karanvir went to the study room of the house. Inside, books and papers were scattered around the area as if a storm had came in. "Is this your house?" Karanvir asked.
"No...this is my boss's house. He's a professor. I'm like his assistant. I come here every morning really early and wait till he gets here." Surbhi answered.
"Then where do you stay?"
"My boss owns an outhouse. I stay there."
"Alone?"
"Yes."
"And...your family?"
Surbhi's face dampered at the question. Before she could reply, the door bell rang. She attended to the door where a man in a black coat stood. "Morning." he smiled as he walked in.
"Morning,sir." Surbhi greeted. Behind the man, two other men came inside as well. Both were tall, muscular, and dressed in a somewhat similar fashion. One of them was wearing a white bandana while the other large black tattoos on his arms.
"Karan, this is Professor Vaquar Shaikh." Surbhi introduced.
"Pleasure to meet another Karan." Professor Shaikh said as he shook Karanvir's hand.
"Another?"Karanvir asked, confused.
"You see these two Karans here," Professor Shaikh pointed to the two men. "The bandana wala is KSG and the inked one is KT."
"And he's a new client as well." Surbhi added.
"In that case you will need a code name as well." Professor Shaikh said.
"What is all this?!" Karanvir asked, confused.
"You'll know in good time, my boy." Professor Shaikh said.
The five of them retreated to the study room. "Sir, from what I have observed...he seems to have inhibited animal instincts. He has accelerated strength, ivory claws, and great endurance as well." Surbhi explained to Professor Shaikh, showing him her a detailed report she had written.
"Well written, Surbhi," Professor Shaikh said, "Now we have to give his code name."
"What is this? Are you going to experiment on me or something?" Karanvir asked.
"No. KSG and KT have been with us in order for us to train and observe their abilities to put them into good use for protection uses," Professor Shaikh explained. "Your powers will be used for the same."
"I think we can call him KV, short for Karanvir." Surbhi suggested.
"Good. Now then...I should at least introduce you to your comrads," Professor Shaikh said. "First, KT. His powers come from the tattoos on his arms."
"My powers depend on moods or emotions," KT stated. "Right now, my powers are in a normal state when the tatoos are simply black. I can only control them mentally through the color range in between. If they turn white, I'm rendered powerless."
"Could you demonstrate?.I don't understand." KV said.
KT closed his eyes. As he focused, his tattoos slowly changed from jet black to a deep blue. As they did, he opened his hand where a floating medium sized water bubble formed in his palm. KV looked at this sight in astonishment and said, "I can't believe your tattoos allow you to do that."
"And now KSG..."Professor Shaikh stated. "He-"
Before the professor could finish his statement, he and the others noticed KSG was gone. "He must've left again!" Surbhi cried.
"That boy!" Professor Shaikh said, frustrated. "I will track him."
"I'll come." KT added.
"What's wrong with him?" KV asked.
"You'll be with us for a while. You'll know in due time." KT answered.
