Tell us about your background I was born and raised in Mumbai. I did my Business Management degree from the U S and worked there for four months.. then I returned to pursue my dreams. How did you start off with acting career? I auditioned for Ram Gopal Var- ma's film, which was stalled. Later, I joined Nadira Babbar's theatre group and did a few plays. After that, Pyar Vyar and All That hap- pened with MTV . Pyar Vyaar.. didn't do all that well. Do you regret having been a part of it? No. It gave me a lot of publicity – there were hoardings and promos all over the place. What more can a newcomer ask for? Also, I bagged my role in Love Story because Anurag Basu's team saw me on Pyar Vyar.. I was called for an audition. Your reaction after bagging Love Story? I was very excited about working with a critically acclaimed director. But to tell you the truth, I didn't want to act.. I wanted to assist Anurag sir. I did express my desire to him, but he told me to give acting a shot, so here I am. That means direction on the cards. I'm not really interested in tele- vision soaps. I'm looking at films. This show is my stepping- stone to the big screen. Though I didn't get to assist Anurag sir, I grasp whatever I can. I like sitting on the sets and observ- ing how things work rather than going out clubbing. How's Love Story shaping up? Well, the show jumps from the present to the past, which is a little confusing for viewers. But the suspense will soon unveil and then on, it will get exciting. In the show, your character, Akash, comesfromabrokenhome.Howimpor- tant are family ties to you? Whatever I am today is because of my parents. I have many close friends who come from broken homes. I wouldn't call them eccen- tric or abnormal but somehow they are always negative about life. Have you been getting any other offers on television? I was offered a Balaji show some- time ago.. can't remember the name. I'm doing many commercials. And finally, what about your love life? Where's the time? I shoot for 30 days a month. Whenever I get time off, I play soccer or practice martial arts. I also love playing the guitar. For now, I guess girls will have to wait.
