So, this didn't turn out to be a short update. I'm sorry for not updating earlier; this would've been done last week if I didn't start it over and over again. It just wasn't penning down the way I wanted it, it didn't go quite the way I imagined it in my head. It's actually hard penning stuff down, it never goes how you want it. I've lost count how many times I re-started this, got frustrated and gone back to sleep. Sighs. I have no idea how it turned out, I hope you guys enjoy it. It is the most emotional update so far, just a warning! Hope I haven't ruined it!
Once again, thank you for the tremendous support. Your comments never fail to make me smile. I do read them, sorry I haven't replied. I do appreciate it and absolutely love reading them. Thank youu! Love you all <3
Chapter 14
Asim turned around and smiled; there in the distant his eyes landed on Ayaat and Zain hugging. He sighed heavily seeing the sight before him; his heart felt content seeing them finally put away their differences. They were made for each other, Zain is the only person that could understand Ayaat and love her unconditionally; heck, he could even leave behind a legacy of his love. The guy who stayed up every night to pray for his beloved, he who took every breath in her name, his eyes admired the moon every night in the hope that he'll catch a glimpse of her. His tears said so much as they wilfully flowed from his eyes in his sleep; Asim could never understand the extent of his love and care for Ayaat. Asim saluted Zain catching his eyes; Zain put a thumbs up with a wink before hugging Ayaat tighter. Asim stared at the steel glass in his hands as his feet found themselves towards Sofia.
'I cannot live without you Zain' Ayaat whispered kissing his neck,
'I cannot live with you Ayaat, you have no idea how I've spent all these days. Promise me, Promise me you'll never turn away from me?' Zain caressed her head; Ayaat snuggled further into his chest,
'No matter what happens, I'll always be by your side. I won't let anything come between us, not even myself.' Ayaat whispered as her lips traced over his chest, 'I will fight for us until my last breath' Zain tried parting to hush her but she clutched onto him tighter shaking her head against his chest. 'I promise!'
His eyes locked on Zain's face, he watched him wink before hug his daughter tighter. He looked towards his right to find a group of guys laughing, his hands fisted instantly.
He took heavy steps forward, each step digging into the earth as anger ran through every vein in his body causing his insides to burn with fire. His fisted hands opened to grab Ayaat's shoulder and yanked her off Zain. Ayaat stumbled back a few steps in a dazed state as the sudden shock from the pull caused the nerve in her head to stun her. She breathed heavily widening her eyes before slowly turning her head to her left to find her father standing there fuming. Her lips quivered trying to speak but nothing came out but a soft cry. She slowly looked towards a confused Zain who stood there staring at his hands before slowly looking up to find Asad staring at him with the most serious of expressions, his deadly glare sent cold shivers down his spine; he will not survive this time. Zain's eyes moved away from Asad to the ground in front of him. Asad paced forward and grabbed him by collar lifting him up and dragging him away from the yard. Zain's feet scraped the floor as they struggled to find any solid platform while Asad pulled him with force. Ayaat finally snapping out of her shock rushed behind her father pleading for him to let go.
The steel glass fell out of Asim's hand seeing Zain being dragged away, Sofia clicked her fingers in front of him but his eyes followed Ali as he ran behind Ayaat.
'HOW DARE YOU?' Asad roared at him, shaking him with force. 'How dare you touch my daughter?' Zain stared at Ayaat helplessly as she broke out into a sob; Zain squirmed in Asad's hold seeing her eyes overflowing with tears.
'Abbu!' Ayaat cried running forward and grabbing her father's arm making Asad throw Zain back. Zain's body crashed against the ground making him grunt loudly,
'Zain!' Ayaat shrieked seeing him fall back, her eyes widened as she froze seeing him whimper on the floor. Asad threw Ayaat's arm off him and picked Zain back up; Asad's venomous eyes met Zain's helpless ones. Asad breathed sharply on his face,
'You thought you could harm my daughter with that mother of yours? I could finish you in seconds' Asad spoke bitterly, Zain shook his head trying to protest but Asad refused to listen to him throwing him back into Ali's hands.
'Please listen to me, Ayaat and-' Zain was cut off by Asad's hard blow to his face, his knees waivered in Ali's hold while blood spluttered from his mouth.
'NOOO' Ayaat's piercing scream reached Asad's ears, he slowly turned around and stared at her. Zain forced his eyes to open to find Asad grabbing Ayaat by her arm before dragging her away. Her reluctant feet tried to dig unto the earth to stop her body being pulled away.
'Abbu, NOOO. Please... Abbu please let go of my hand. He's hurt' Ayaat twisted her hand as she fought with her father to let go of her. She cried staring back at Zain, his lips bleeding as he half lay on the floor gazing back at her lovingly. Ayaat's eyes opened wide seeing her father nod at Ali who grabbed Zain by the neck. Ayaat shook her head while her eyes brimmed with more tears.
'Abbu please listen to me' Ayaat pleaded as Asad held the door open, Asad looked at her sternly forcing her to sit inside the car.
'What happened?' Zoya and Asim came running,
'GET IN THE CAR!' Asad ordered Zoya who got inside the car; Asim placed his hand on Ayaat's window finding her sobbing uncontrollably. He followed her gaze behind him to find Ali's hand around Zain's neck.
'Everything will be fine' Asim wiped the glass, mouthing her comforting words before rushing towards Zain. Ayaat watched with her big eyes, tears dripping endlessly while Asim pushed Ali out of the way before grabbing him by the collar, she turned around and took a deep breath not being able breathe. Her body shook with each sob as she stared at her father's back driving crazily; he was still fuming with anger. Ayaat placed her hand on her chest trying to calm her speeding heart, she shook her head pressing out more tears every time she thought about Zain in pain.
Zoya grabbed Ayaat in her arms helping her out of the car before supporting her inside, Dilshad jumped up from the sofa finding Asad in a foul mood. She stared at Ayaat crying silently,
'Take her to her room Zoya and make sure she stays there' Asad looked at Zoya with stern eyes, Zoya nodded taking Ayaat into the room hushing and comforting her along the way. Ayaat ran up to her bed and fell onto it breaking into another cry. She dug her head into the pillows, her muffled cries strung at Zoya's insides. Zoya sat down on the bed next to her daughter, her hands went over head. Ayaat looked up,
'Ammi, he hit him. He hurt him.' Ayaat repeated over and over again, 'Please tell Abbu, Zain is not a bad person. Ammi, you will tell Abbu right?' Zoya nodded trying to cup her face, Zoya wiped her tears,
'Shhh, I will make sure nothing happens to him. Don't cry baby, you're my good girl' Zoya comforted her daughter,
'Ammi, I can't live without him' Ayaat broke down falling back onto the pillow; Zoya felt her heart being pulled out of her. Zoya wiped her own tears closing the door behind her and looked at her husband fiercely,
'What the hell is going on?' Zoya barked at Asad as her motherly instincts took over; her little baby was crying like never before. She watched as a distraught Zuhair entered with Ali followed by Asim. They were all quiet standing next to Asad, 'WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL?' Zoya scolded all of them, 'Why is Ayaat crying? What happened?' Dilshad nodded along with her, Asad stepped forward and showed her his phone. Zoya gave him a blank look before furiously reading over the message and looking at him, 'And what?'
'Zain' Asad replied,
'You seriously don't believe that he could do something like that, do you?' Zoya asked baffled while Asim stared on.
'I don't trust her and he is her son' Asad spoke disgusted,
'Asad, are you crazy?' Zoya blinked at him, he gave her a blank look of disbelief; his wife wasn't on his side, this was about their daughter.
'Whatever happens, I will protect my daughter' Asad spoke with finality in his voice.
'She's not just your' Zoya paused watching Ayaan enter with Zain behind him; he was badly bruised and bleeding. Zoya's hand found themselves over her mouth; her eyes blurred seeing him helplessly look at Asad pleading for him to hear him out.
'He'll get his stuff and leave' Ayaan spoke quickly before Asad could say anything. He looked at a torn Dilshad who was confused about what was going on; he walked over to her and supported her upstairs.
'Chachu' Zain started,
'I told you we have no relation of that sort. Get your stuff and go before I kick you out.' Asad gritted his teeth, Asim's head shot towards Asad 'You're just like your mother and I have no room for anyone like that in my house' Asad glared at him. Zoya tried speaking but Asad put his hand up,
'I love her!' Zain confessed finally not being able to get Asad to listen to him, Zoya cried into her hands hearing him finally speak out from his heart. Asad looked at him scornfully; ready to burn him to ashes.
'How dare you?' Asad growled making everyone shiver on their spot, his tone of voice pierced through everyone.
'You, love my daughter?' Asad laughed sarcastically, bitterness visible in his laugh,
'I could bury you alive for having such thoughts' Asad threatened in his sudden calm voice. Zoya shook her head disbelievingly at her husband's arrogance; why can he not see past his hatred for Tanveer.
'She loves me too, I could never' Zain spoke a bit louder, Asad roared at him. Before he could strangle Zain to death, he heard Ayaat's door open. 'Ayaat' Zain whispered seeing her swollen eyes; he shook his head in a no.
'Zain'' Ayaat opened the door and leaned against the side, her eyes swayed past every individual standing in the hallway before falling on Zain,
'ZAINNN!'' Ayaat gathered her strength before running towards him only to have Asad swiftly turn on his feet and grab her by the waist and confine her with his arms.
'Ayaat, baby listen to me to your baba'' Asad restrained her trying to make her understand, Ayaat squirmed in his hold trying to reach for Zain,
'Abbu' Ayaat stopped fighting and looked at her father with teary eyes; Asad shook his head in a no. Asim watched helplessly not knowing what to do; he didn't know Asad hated Zain so much.
'Ayaat?' Zain stepped forward knowing that he was the only one that could calm her down although he didn't want to interfere between father and daughter.
'Don't you dare' Asad warned with wide eyes raising his finger at him, Ali backhanded Zain making him stumble back a few steps, Asim glared at Ali feeling helpless; he knew Asad wouldn't want him interfering but he couldn't stand back and watch as a spectator.
'ZAINNN! Don't touch him' Ayaat yelled pulling her father's arm from her waist, she ran forward a few steps before feeling Asad's hand grab at her fingertips, Zoya paced forward and wrapped her arms around a wriggling Ayaat who had totally lost her senses, she was uncontrollable as her tears flowed continuously,
'It's okay beta, don't worry. Nothing will happen to him' Zoya whispered into her ears, Ayaat looked at her mother who nodded at her caressing her face,
'LEAVEEE!' Asad ordered,
'I know you've always hated me' Zain coughed earning a blow to his face from Ali, Zain turned his face towards Ayaat again, 'But trust me, when I say I would never harm her.' Zain explained only to be punched again, this time making him fall off his feet. The room filled with Zain's pained grunts and Ayaat's bellowing cries.
'ALIII! Let him go, don't you dare touch him, I swear I will kill you!' Ayaat shrieked breathless, Ali looked at her before staring at Zain on the floor.
'You're crying for him?' Ali questioned her, 'He can never be family to anyone' He spoke disgusted, Ayaat removed her mother's arms to strangle Ali only to have Asad grab her and hug her tight. Ayaat's fist pushed at Asad's chest trying to release herself hearing more of Zain's groans, Asad tried taking her inside her room.
'Baba, please let me go. He's hitting him, why is he hitting him. He's hurt ARGHHH NOOO let go off him!'' Ayaat cried fighting her father remembering her promises to Zain, Asad grabbed her wrist,
'You're better off without him' Asad told her,
'NOOO, CHACHUUU, ASIMMM, Please do something. Look, he's hitting him... Abbu, tell him to stop' Ayaat repeated crazily seeing Ali kick Zain every time he called out to her. She was out of control finding no one help him. 'Why aren't you fighting back Zain?'
'ABBU, I LOVE HIMMM!' Ayaat shouted, Zain looked up from the floor with teary eyes. Asad froze on the spot. He looked at her with moist eyes; he brushed her cheeks trying to cup her shaking face, he looked into her bloodshot eyes,
'He can't love anyone baby' Asad tried explaining,
'I love him baba' Ayaat whispered, 'And I can't live without him' She shook her head before bursting into a coughing fit. She slowly removed her father's hands who looked at her scared and stepped back seeing her nose bleed. Asad blinked at her feeling faint as she struggled to keep her eyes open, Zain forced himself up and rushed towards her with urgency. He embraced her with both of his arms before rubbing her back,
'Nothing will happen to you' Zain whispered, Ayaat rested her head on his chest finding solace.
'I will fight for us until my last breath, I will not give up on your hope but forgive me if I can't keep your promise' Ayaat whispered softly smiling as he wiped the blood from her face; Zain shuddered as he understood the actual meaning of her words. Asad looked at Zoya momentarily before removing a frozen Zain off Ayaat.
'Ali!' Asad yelled, Ayaan came running down the stairs,
'WHAT THE HELL BHAIJAAN? What have you done to him?' Ayaan asked shocked rushing towards Zain who had been held by the collar by Ali. 'ALIII, don't you dare' Ayaan snatched Zain from him and embraced him. 'What is wrong with you?' Ayaan questioned his brother who had totally lost it, 'I guess 18 years wasn't enough!'
'Ayaan I-'
'AYAAAT!' Asim ran forward towards a falling Ayaat who had closed her eyes amidst the argument. Asad grabbed her half dangling body and stared at her; she was pale and lifeless. Zain tried to move out of Ayaan's hold but his firm hold on him refused to break.
'Ayaat? Baby' Asad whispered shaking his arm, Ayaat's body remained in the same position, blood dripped from her nose and mouth. 'Ayaaat?' Asad panicked picking her up into his arms and holding her tight, 'Call Dr Sengupta' Asad ran out of the house with Ayaat in his arms, Zain stared with wide eyes as her head brushed his shoulder. Zoya followed behind Asad with Asim and Zuhair.
'Nothing will happen to you' Asad cradled Ayaat in his arms, his moist eyes went over his daughter's face, his thumb brushed the blood from the side of her mouth. He loosened the scarf around her head; he winced seeing patches of baldness on her head. Asad whimpered seeing her condition, a part of him was breaking slowly, if anything happens to her he will not be able to live. His hand went over her forehead and then her head, 'My bundle of life' He pressed out his tears; this was all his fault. He could've explained things in an easier way; he didn't realise when things got so violent. He did not want Zain near his daughter, he didn't want to beat him up; why the hell didn't he stop Ali from torturing Zain? In his anger, he risked his daughter's life; a life that she was already fighting to survive. He gazed over at Zoya shaking her head, Zoya's state tore his insides; if there was anything inside him that hadn't broken then that too broke.
He placed her motionless body on the hospital trolley bed, everything around him slowed down as he watched her lips part breathing out into the oxygen mask, Asad's hand tightened on hers as she tried speaking,
'Zainnn' Ayaat mumbled softly before lying still on the bed, Asad's hand slowly fell out of hers; he reached for the tip of her fingers while she was rushed into the emergency room. Asad stood in the middle of the half empty hospital staring at his wife's face and then his blood stained hands.
'"What happened?' Dr Sengupta rushed towards Asad, Asad showed her his hands unable to speak. '"Nothing will happen to her, stay strong!' She rushed inside the emergency room. Asim and Zuhair looked at each other not knowing what was actually happening.
'"Ahsaan pick up the damn phone!' Tanveer paced from one side to another, feeling slightly frustrated. Today was their last chance to get those documents; she prayed hard that her plans worked. She slammed the phone on her other hand, '"Sorry Ayaan, but you should've thought twice about insulting me that day' She flung back onto the sofa. She stared at her phone and smiled widely,
'He signed the documents. I will talk to you later. Ly xx'
Tanveer breathed out heavily, letting out all of her frustrations in one breath; her 18 years wait finally paid off. She was going to get what she deserves; Imran and Asad were going to pay for their deception and rejection, and for her loss. Tanveer closed her eyes and pressed out her tears placing her hand over her stomach. She opened her eyes and looked over the messages she had sent to Asad,
'"Ayaat and Zain. Go and destroy your daughter's happiness with your own hands Asad!' Tanveer laughed. 'I have kept him alive for this day.' She sighed.
Zain dropped to his knees instead of sitting on the bench. Ayaan slouched on the floor and placed his arms over him.
'This is all my fault' Zain cried, 'I cannot breathe Charlie'
'Nothing is your fault, enough is enough. You are not to blame for anything, do you understand me?' Ayaan looked into his eyes, Zain pressed out his tears,
'I shouldn't have loved her Charlie, when I knew I wasn't worthy of her, because of my mistake she is in hospital right now fighting for her life' Zain sobbed remembering her last words, 'NO NO, she cannot break her promise, she will be fine' Zain crawled on the floor staring at Ayaan with wide eyes. Ayaan nodded trying to pick him up,
'You wait here, let me call Humeira. You wait here' Ayaan's voice stammered seeing his condition; he rushed inside to call Humeira. Zain's head shot towards the thunder storm, he closed his eyes as the sky broke allowing the rain to wash away everything below it. His eyes opened slowly, he stared at his shirt dripping red. He clutched onto his shirt remembering her face coughing blood onto his shirt. He jumped up onto his feet and ran leaving a worried Ayaan and Humeira behind.
Zain stood outside staring at the hospital in front of him; his heart was beating frantically as if it would stop beating any second. He stepped forward towards her, he froze hearing her laughter. He spun on his feet, his steps almost faltering due to his weakness.
'Ayaat?' Zain whispered, 'Ayaat?' He spun almost falling over only to be caught by an elderly lady,
'Careful beta!' She held him tightly, 'You will fall' Zain looked up at her,
'Aap?' Zain whispered, she smiled at him wiping his forehead,
'Get inside before you fall ill and get yourself checked out' The lady told him before walking passed him,
'Chahat Ji' Zain turned around, the lady froze. She slowly turned around towards him,
'Yes beta, sorry. Do I know you?' Chahat stepped forward towards him,
'No but you know someone I'm trying to find' Zain tried speaking in his most normal tone, 'Tanveer!' He whispered watching her eyes widen, she was about to leave, 'How do you know her?' He questioned. Chahat's lips quivered,
'Who are you?' Chahat cried, Zain wiped his face in the rain.
'I am supposedly her son' Zain spoke bitterly; finally realising there was actually nothing to hide from anyone. The person who loves him the most knows their relationship and that's all that matters. Chahat gasped stumbling back a few steps, Zain rushed forward and held her. Chahat burst into a cry shaking her head side to side,
'You are not her son' Chahat spoke in between her sobs, 'I've committed such a big crime, my God will never forgive me' Chahat repeated over and over again,
'I know what she has done, I know everything but I need to-' He froze seeing her wide eyes, 'What's wrong? I know, I wish I wasn't...'
'You are not her son' She repeated again,
'Aunty, I am not the twin she kidnapped' Zain tried to explain her misunderstanding, 'He is someone else, she killed him. I want you to tell me how you know such a woman'
'You are not her son' She said again with wide eyes caressing his face, 'Please forgive me'
'Aunty, please calm down. You haven't done anything wrong, she has.' Zain wiped her tears before pulling her under some shelter.
'I helped her take that child, I helped her' Chahat shook her head sideways,
'What?' Zain asked shocked, 'You helped her kill that child?'
'NOOO!' Chahat shook her head, 'I didn't kill anyone, I just helped her take them. You are not her son, stay away from her' She spoke pleading looking everywhere consciously as if someone was going to take her away,
'What do you mean I'm not her son?' Zain asked her, 'Aunty I'm not the twin she stole...'
'I know' Chahat whispered with tears overflowing her eyes. 'Please forgive me beta, please forgive me if you can' She held her hands up at him before running away.
'Aunty please listen to me, aunty?' Zain called behind her but she disappeared into the distant. 'I don't understand...' He stared ahead of him confused as to what she said to him. She was repeating one thing despite him telling her that he wasn't Ahsaan who was stolen from Zoya all those years ago. He walked out as the rain stopped; he sat down on the bench opposite the hospital in deep thought, 'What did she mean, were there more than just one incident?' He whispered into his hands not being able to reach an answer.
A broken Asad sat next to Zoya who hadn't moved in the last couple of hours as they anxiously waited for news about their daughter. He placed his hand over Zoya's still ones, Zoya's tears fell onto his hands. Asad lifted their gathered hands and took it to his lips kissing her tear away. Zoya looked at him, Asad met her eyes and shook his head trying to comfort her.
'What have we done?' Zoya whispered staring ahead of her,
'Zoya, this is my fault. My stubbornness, I could've handled this a different way but I didn't know... our baby, I didn't want to hurt her' Asad shook his head,
'It's my fault for not stopping you.' Zoya looked at him, 'But I know you won't let anything happen to our baby.' She got up and walked forward, Asad stared at her with teary eyes. 'We have lost one baby, if anything happens to Ayaat, I won't be able to live' She turned around towards a shattered Asad who slowly got up. She shook her head before jumping into his arms, Asad grabbed her with all his might. He shook side to side with her petite frames in his huge arms. Asad turned with Zoya in his arms as Nikita walked out of the emergency room. She looked to her side to find the nurses pushing Ayaat's bed out of the emergency room and took her into another ward. Asad and Zoya stared with wide eyes as her unconscious body moved passed them. They both looked at Nikita with hopeful expressions; she pressed her eyes at them.
'Everything will be fine' Nikita told them,
'Are you saying that as a doctor or as a friend?' Zoya asked her, Nikita stared at the floor in front of her, 'How is she Nikita, really?'
'We need a donor Zoya, as soon as possible. Her chemotherapy sessions are not working, were not working... I have told you before' Nikita pressed her forehead,
'You didn't say anything like that' Asad answered, 'we thought they were working, she was-' Asad cut off mid-sentence realising Ayaat didn't tell them anything, if she was hurting, she would never tell anyone. 'Damn it, why Ayaat, why?' Asad cried.
'Where's Zain?' Nikita asked them of both who stared back at her, 'Thank God he told about her previously coughing up blood.' Zoya looked at Asad, 'Anyways we're monitoring her, why don't you two sit down by her side' She said hesitantly, 'I need to discuss something with the doctors, I'll get back to you in a bit.'
'Is there anything you're not telling us Dr Sengupta?' Asad asked her suspiciously, she shook her head in a no and walked away. Asad pressed his hand over Zoya's shoulder before walking into Ayaat's ward; tears flowed from their eyes as they stared at Ayaat.
'Abbu?' Asad heard a voice; he looked towards his left to find Ayaat dressed in her karate clothes. Her hair tied up in a ponytail, she shook it side to side raising her hands up into fists and jumping side to side, 'Chalo na' She spoke mischievously playing her eyebrows,
Asad smiled,
'Pagal ladki, you must be the only daughter who is always ready to kick her father's butt' Asad laughed hitting her head from the back, Ayaat turned around and pretended to punch his chest before wrapping her arms around his neck,
'But I love you as much!' Ayaat kissed his nose before punching his stomach.
Asad let Zoya go as she slowly walked around Ayaat's bed and sat down on the stool beside her. Her hands went over Ayaat's head; she tied the scarf on her heard properly. She brushed her thumb over her swollen eyelids,
'Wake up baby, wake up' Zoya whispered, 'Mujhe darr lagta hai beta, teri ammi ko dard hota hai' She placed her hand on her forehead, caressing her face. She looked up at Asad and nodded her head. Asad stared towards his left and watched her laughing with him; he took steps forward towards an unconscious Ayaat and sat beside her. He took his shaky hands and grabbed her hand in between his; his heart cried remembering the incident earlier,
'I can't live without him'
Asad kissed her hand shaking off all his thoughts; he tilted his head and looked at his daughter sleeping peacefully.
'My short tempered little baby' Asad smiled, 'Nothing will happen to you. You just get well soon and punish your Abbu however you want to. No silent treatment okay, something else' A lone tear escaped his eyes. 'And then we'll play basketball and I'll let you beat me.' Zoya met his gaze for a moment and sighed.
'Abbu' Asad heard a little girl, but he didn't know why but his heart was telling him that she was calling out to him. As if in a trance, he looked sideways towards his left; a small played on his lips.
'Abbu, Abbu, Abbu' An eight year old Ayaat moved around in circles, she was dressed in a small three piece suit. 'Mere Abbu is the best!' She looked up at him, she smiled widely at him showing her teeth; most of them had fallen out. 'Mere Abbu...' Her nose twitched, Asad waited for her to complete her sentence. 'I love my Abbu' She ran towards him,
'Asad?' Zoya called him, Asad looked at her, 'What happened?' She asked wiping her tears. He shook his head in a no before holding Ayaat's hand against his cheek, kissing her palm. His eyes fell on her bracelet which was gifted to her by Asim a few weeks back. He jumped up onto his feet and rushed out of the room leaving a dumbfounded Zoya.
Asim stared at his phone and sighed; how would he explain to his mother that this was not the right time for anything. He didn't sympathise HIM but he cared about HIS daughter and he didn't want anything to happen to her. He may hate Asad Ahmed Khan, but how was he going to look into Zoya Asad Ahmed Khan's eyes and tell her that I tried to kill her husband, his main aim for entering their lives was to ruin him. How would Ayaat react knowing the truth about his motives, would he ever be able to face her? He had finally accepted her as his sister, forget his motives, what would her say to her about not fulfilling his responsibilities? She needed him the most today, she wanted him to protect her love but he stood there and watched everything happen right before his eyes.
'What kind of a brother am I?' Asim hit his head against the wall. He wiped his tears and picked up the call, 'Hello mama' He sighed,
'Asim?' Tanveer laughed,
'Ahsaan mama, it's over' He touched his pocket, 'it's done but I couldn't do it to her mama'
Asim stared at the table of drinks in front of him, he looked up to find Asad in deep thought. His eyes refused to move off his phone as he stood there amongst the crowd not aware of his surroundings. He watched his eyes search for something in the crowd; Asim poured the mixed drink onto the floor and approached him.
'Sir?'
'HUH? Asim' Asad snapped out of his thoughts and looked at him, 'Sir, here really? What's up?' Asad asked him but his attention was elsewhere,
'Sorry. It's just that there was something important I wanted you to sign, office stuff. It's urgent, you should check it' Asim bit his lips,
'No, I trust you beta' Asad placed his hand on Asim's head before signing the documents and handing it to him before leaving, 'I er, I'll be back' Asad spoke dazed moving into the crowd. Asim turned around and stared towards his retreating back.
'Well done son' Tanveer congratulated him, 'You need to come meet me' She smiled.
'ASIMMM?!' Ahsaan turned around to find Asad rushing towards him; he almost slipped trying to stop in front of Ahsaan. He breathed heavily holding onto his shoulders, Asim's phone moved away from his ears as he supported Asad.
'What's wrong?' Ahsaan asked him worriedly, 'How is she? Zuhair has just gone down, do you need anything?' He nodded,
'Asim, beta. Ayaat donated her blood to you didn't she?' Asad asked him,
'No she didn't uncle, erm' Ahsaan didn't know what to say but something in his eyes told him that Ayaat's life depended on his answers.
'But your blood groups match, very rare to find... that means...'
'That means?' Ahsaan asked confused,
'That means your bone marrows will match' Asad cried pulling Ahsaan into a hug. Ahsaan's eyes widened in shock as Asad crushed him in his arms. Asad broke apart and looked at his face. Ahsaan braced himself for the next few words,
'Ayaat has bone marrow cancer' Asad whispered looking into his eyes, 'I need your help. Please save my daughter, please. I will do anything you ask me to' Asad fell to his knees pleading, 'Please Asim, save my daughter! I cannot live without her, I will give you anything you ask for in return just do this one favour?' Ahsaan stared ahead of him, every inch of his body froze, he couldn't react. He felt a part of him breaking as his heart clawed inside of him threatening burst out of him, he looked at his hands.
'That moment, every nerve in my body was saying something, it wanted to protect her. I wanted to shield her from whatever it was that was hurting her'
Ahsaan remembered his own words, his lips parted but no words came out. He looked around the hospital in a stunned state before looking at the helpless father at his feet. Ahsaan threw the phone on the seat and picked him up,
'What? Cc-cancer?' Ahsaan's voice came out broken, 'When did this happen? I mean she was fine, no that can't be possible I mean how is that even possible. Ayaat ko? No never! You're joking' Ahsaan held his forehead feeling like someone had hit his head with a hammer.
'I still feel like it's a lie Asim, I mean my daughter... cancer.' Asad breathed out, 'I need your help buddy, all these days, we've been searching for a donor. No luck but today, I don't know how but you popped into my mind. Would you do me this favour beta?' Asad held his hand with hope, his pleading eyes pierced at Ahsaan. Ahsaan nodded at him, his lips quivered as he tried to control his tears.
'Thank you so much beta. May the Almighty fulfil all your wishes. You might have to do a few tests in the morning, you get some rest. I'm just going to go tell Zoya, she'll be so happy' Asad spoke cheerfully; the smile on his face was refusing to wipe off. He hugged Ahsaan and ran back to the ward, 'Thank you beta' He repeated over and over again. Ahsaan sat down on the chair feeling his knees waiver; he looked at the phone beside him and closed his eyes.
'I won't let anything happen to you' Ahsaan whispered pressing out his tears, 'I will protect you, now I understand Zain's pain. Now I understand everything.' He looked at his hands before fisting them.
'YES YES YES YES YES YES!' Tanveer jumped from one sofa to another celebrating Asad's defeat. 'I got you Asad. I got you Asad Ahmed Khan' She looked at her feet with a smirk on her face, 'KISS THESE FEET! Didn't I say I will make you beg at my feet for what you have done to me. Not will you be on the streets but I will have you yearning for life itself.' Tanveer threw the wine glass in her hand across the floor and stared at it with venomous eyes, 'No one can save you from me, I WILL take away everything from you. EVERYTHING!' Tanveer sat down on the sofa feeling content after a long few days, and at peace after 18 years.
'Ahsaan' She placed the phone to her ears. 'I need those documents, wait hold on. What is up with you? Why are you crying?' She rolled her eyes; he was feeling sorry for her. She knew it; emotional fool.
Zain lay back against the bench with his eyes closed as the blasting sun burned his body. He was still in his white kurta from yesterday, he couldn't leave the hospital, he couldn't go back on his promise; he will always stay by her side even if that means he has to wait in the scorching heat all day. He hadn't heard any news from anyone in the past 18 hours he had been sitting here; his battery had died hours ago. He was waiting for someone to leave the hospital so that he could approach them; he understood what state Asad and Zoya must be in so did not want to worsen their health by showing his face. His lips quivered as images of his Ayaat flashed before his eyes; everything was his fault. If he hadn't gone in front of her, or even come into her life, she wouldn't be suffering so much. Zain's eyes opened slowly feeling someone wiping off the sweat from his head; he instantly held her realising who it was.
'Ayaat?' Zain whispered cupping her face, 'You, here. How are you?' He touched her face as his heartbeats rose finding her admiring him.
'How am I? How are you? What have you done to yourself?' Ayaat touched his wounds; her thumbs brushed the side of his lips.
'You see, I can't live without you' Zain tilted his head to her touch,
'Then why are you regretting coming into my life?' Ayaat questioned him,
'Because I am responsible for your condition, I won't live-' Ayaat placed her hand over his lips shaking her head,
'You will be if you say that. Don't you see it, I Ayaat Asad Ahmed Khan, cannot breathe without you, the reason for my condition is my fear of losing you, and because Almighty is testing us' She nodded her head, 'If He has written a longer life for me, I pray He has written it in your name. If He hasn't, then I pray that He has written love for you because you don't deserve anything less than that' Ayaat kissed his forehead,
'Forgive me if I can't keep your promise'
Zain's eyes shot open, his body almost fell off the bench. He looked around him furiously; drops of tears trailing down his cheeks along with sweat from the side of his forehead. He wiped his mouth feeling this throat go dry, he rushed towards the hospital reception.
'A-Ayaat Asad Ahmed Khan' Zain choked her name out,
'Room 3.05, on the third floor' The receptionist replied worried, 'Sir, but your forehead' She pointed but her words fell deaf to his ears as he rushed towards the lifts. Zuhair rushed towards him when the lift opened to reveal Zain, he pulled him to the side,
'Zain, my brother' Zuhair held his face in his hands, his voice full of concern. 'Where have you been? Abbu text me, I thought you might come into the hospital but... Ya Allah, you still haven't treated your wounds. Come with me' He pulled Zain but he refused to budge.
'How is she?' Zain whispered, Zuhair looked at him for a moment before taking him into a hug,
'She hasn't gained consciousness, Chachu and Chachi are concerned but the doctor said we shouldn't worry.' Zuhair patted his back, Zain swore he could hear him sniffing on his shoulder. He pulled back and tried to smile,
'You know what, Asim has agreed to be our donor. He is likely to be a match; he has just gone in for a few tests. They're the same blood group. I can't believe, Ayaat, our little angel, blood cancer. I was shocked when I found out, but we have a donor, it will be fine. I know it will be.' Zuhair finally got a reaction out of Zain.
'Ya Allah, thank you thank you thank you!' Zain closed his eyes pressing out his tears, 'I am an idiot for not realising earlier, I knew their blood groups were the same, but I, she wouldn't be in there if I used my head' Zain hit his head a few times before Zuhair held his hand,
'Are you crazy? This is not your fault; everyone knew yet was still unaware. Heyhey look at me Zain, I have seen your love for her, nothing will happen to her. Whether anyone believes you or not, I do and I have full faith that only you can keep her happy. I am with you in this fight' He nodded his head earning a laugh from Zain.
'What fight bhaijaan. My Ayaat is fighting the real battle; I have made things harder for her. I just want her to be okay, healthy in front of me. Trust me her chirpy self is a sight to see' Zain smiled as Zuhair watched him with eager eyes, 'Anyone would fall in love with her if they saw her openly laughing.' He sighed, a lone tear escaped his eyes. He grabbed Zuhair's hand, 'I want to see her, only for a moment, even if it's from far. Please, help me bhaijaan? I don't want to go in there and create a scene while she's unconscious; they've gone through so much. My heart is restless, for a second please?' Zain pleaded, his eyes softened seeing Zuhair nod. He quickly wiped his tears and followed carefully behind Zuhair who grabbed two cups of hot coffee from a little boy and took them inside. Asad already had his back towards the door, with Zoya on the opposite side. Both of them were drained as their eyes remained locked on their daughter's face waiting for her to wake up. Zuhair forced them to take the coffees as they both refused instantly, Zain took a deep breath in before coming in front of the door; his eyes tore through the little glass window. His heart stopped beating for a moment as his eyes tired eyes landed on her face; her closed eyes did something to him.
'Wake up' Zain whispered, his fingers stroking her face through the glass. He watched her breathe into the oxygen mask; she looked so calm and so still. Her face was pale as if all life had been sucked out of her. 'Ayaat, hold on tight, nothing will happen to you. You'll be just fine, just don't let go. I'm here, waiting for you. Open those eyes come back to us.' Tears trickled down the side of his face, 'you will have to keep your promise, I love you so so much. Just remember that, Almighty has written my life in your name. Utt jao, tumhare siva koi zindagi nahin hain.' His indent finger caressed the glass. Zoya looked up to find Zain sadly gazing at Ayaat, she looked at Ayaat and caressed her forehead. She watched as he took his fingers to his lips and placed them back on the glass before stepping backwards and walking away wiping his tears. I understand what you're going through Zain, stay strong my son Zoya closed her eyes and prayed. She pressed her eyes at Zuhair understanding why he was standing behind Asad. Zuhair walked back out of the room and placed his hand on Zain's shoulder,
'Are you okay?' Zuhair spoke softly,
'Yeah I'm fine' Zain turned around forcing himself to stay strong for her sake. 'I er I'm just going to go down and get this dressed' He coughed avoiding eye contact with Zuhair, 'if you see Asim, tell him I said I love him' He laughed before walking off not being able to speak. Zuhair watched his back; he pressed his eyes not being able to stop himself from tearing up. Zain had suffered so much in the last 18 years. He hasn't received the love he deserves and today proved that no matter how long he may have lived in that house, Asad chachu will never be able to see him any differently. His bitterness for Tanveer will only die out the day he strangles her to death but what about Zain? What has he done? Zuhair prayed silently for his sister and Zain.
'Did Zain come?' Ahsaan asked shaking his hand; Zuhair snapped out of his thoughts and looked towards Ahsaan.
'He did, he said he loves you' Zuhair smiled patting his shoulder thankfully, 'He loves you' He sighed moving away and sitting down on the chairs. Ahsaan watched him before looking through the glass at Ayaat.

'Jee Bhaijaan, I'll bring some clothes now. Is he okay? Don't let him go anywhere, I'll bring some food over as well' Sofia wiped her tears placing the phone back into her pocket. She caressed Dilshad's forehead as she slept peacefully unaware of the situation.
'Innayah? Come here, take care of Daadi okay? Good girl' Sofia patted her cheek before getting out of the bed and walking towards Zain's room. Sofia whimpered entering his room, she closed her eyes for a moment trying to control her tears. Her eyes went over the room, this is where Zain had been staying for 18 years and now in moments, his memory ceases to exist. It did not take 18 seconds for Asad to banish him from his life declaring him a stranger. She slowly walked towards the cupboard and opened it. She grabbed his clothes with her shaky hands; she looked around for a bag when her eyes fell on a half-filled side bag. She emptied the bag; Asim's clothes fell out of it. She gathered it all and placed it on the bed before packing Zain's clothes in there; Asim wouldn't mind, not in these circumstances. She wiped the tears strolling down her cheeks with the back of her hands. She looked around the room trying to remember whether there was anything else she needed to pack. She took steady steps towards the bedside draw; she opened it quietly before browsing everything in the draw. She picked up an envelope and half emptied the pictures into her hand; a small smile formed on her lips seeing the pictures from Zain's fashion show with Ayaat. She placed the envelope against her chest; how much she wished she had known earlier so that she could have helped them. She was so happy that her brother had found love and more importantly, he loved Ayaat. They were made for each other and only they can keep each other happy. After 18 years, love and happiness found their way into their lives, Zain was the other reason why Ayaat came face to face with her father.
'Almighty, please help Ayaat bhaji. Give her back to us, there is not a single person that I know that can live without her. Asad chachu, Zoya chachi and Zain, for their sake please make her well. Help us, send us an angel. Please give us a miracle, save my sister. Please' Sofia prayed slowly getting up and grabbing the bag; her eyes fell on a napkin on the floor. She picked it up and placed it inside the bag with the envelope before walking out of the room. Sofia fussed with the bag as she came down the stairs when her mind froze on one familiar thing; she grabbed it and looked up to find Ali sat against the sofa with his hands over his face. Hassan and Hussain had fallen asleep on the other sofa due to all the stress. Sofia's expressions changed to more harsh ones as she looked at Ali with wide venomous eyes. Ali looked up hearing footsteps; he jumped onto his feet seeing Sofia.
'Sofia, where are you going? Hospital, let me drop you off' Ali rushed towards her; Sofia put her hand out to stop him.
'I have my brother and my Abbu' Sofia walked ahead,
'Is this because of him?' Ali questioned her back, Sofia halted in her tracks, 'You're not speaking to your brother, your own blood because of HIM? Sofia he cannot be family to anyone, he has deceived this family despite all we have done for him. He is, afteralll, HER son-' Sofia swiftly turned on her feet as anger grew within her,
'What would YOU know about family Ali BHAIJAAN?' Sofia spoke sarcastically, 'You don't know the F about family and you're questioning me about Zain bhaijaan. How dare you say such things about him?' Sofia's eyes grew smaller looking at him with disgust,
'Sofia...'
'Forgive me for my tone bhaijaan, but you are wrong and always will be. It was you who abandoned his mother; it was because of you my brother had to leave us just to make you understand the importance of family. It's you who left us despite a mother and a sister who adored you and couldn't live without you. And you're talking about staying loyal to family? And BLOOD? He may not be blood bhaijaan but he has done more for this family than you ever could. YOU haven't DONE anything for him and nor does he owe you anything, not even his loyalty. He loves Ayaat, if loving is deception then every person that loves another is deception.' Sofia lifted her finger at him, 'He IS Dilshad daadi's grandchild and Ayaan Ahmed Khan's son whether you accept it or not.' Sofia's body shook as she stood up for her brother who had loved and protected her all his life. 'and he has a name, Zain Dilshad Khan, use it next time. Don't you dare even think about touching him again, I will not stand it.' Sofia turned around to go only to find a proud Ayaan standing next to the door. She ran up to him and hugged him breaking out into a sob, 'What have they done to him Abbu?'
'Shhh' Ayaan consoled his daughter, 'Come on, we need to go. They both need us' Sofia looked up and nodded. He looked at an expressionless Ali, 'You should've understood when he didn't fight back Ali. You should have understood his innocence' Ayaan walked out of the house with his arms around Sofia. He picked up his phone, 'Hello, what's up Humeira? Okay that's fine, I'll wait here. You hurry up.' Sofia looked at her father.
'Sofia beta, you go. Kaka will drop you off, I need to stay here. Humeira is coming; we need stay with your daadi. You go, take care of him. Here, Humeira sent food' Ayaan kissed her forehead before passing her the box.

Zoya longingly gazed towards her daughter's face earning for her eyes to open, she wanted to hear 'Ammi' from her mouth, she wanted to hold her baby in her arms. Her heart sank every time she looked at all the machines attached to her, the lines on the monitor a sign that she is still breathing, she is still with them. Her eyes blurred with her heavy eyelids pressing down on her eyes, almost closing. Asad was in a similar state, he had been chanting prayers holding onto her hand every so often looking at the monitor with panic. Asad leaned against his other hand supporting himself trying to force himself to stay awake. He almost fell off the edge of the bed as his elbows slipped due to the pressure put onto them and the sudden movement by Ayaat, his eyes shot wide open as his tiredness jumped out of the window. He got onto his feet and looked over his daughter,
'Ayaat?' He cried, Zoya looked up at him and then at Ayaat. 'Ayaat, beta. Kya hua, dard ho raha hai? Beta' Asad panicked horrified watching her body shake as she fought to open her eyes slowly. Asad's hand went over her forehead as he leaned in closer realising she was trying to speak.
'DOCTOR?!!!!!!!!!!!!!' Zoya shouted with all the energy left in her, she pressed the button next to her furiously seeing her daughter's eyes roll upwards. She could hear her mumbling something in her unconscious state,
'Abbu, Abbu' Tears streamed down their faces hearing her speak; Asad's heart burst hearing her call out to him but her next few words shocked him, 'Don't hurt him Abbu, please let him go' Ayaat's eyes opened wide in horror, her body shook; the monitors in the room set off. Asad picked half her body up and embraced her tight in between all the wires; he hushed her trying to stop her body from shaking. Zoya watched shocked as the doctors and nurses rushed inside one after the other pushing Zoya out of the way and injecting her in Asad's hold. Asad slowly looked at her as her body stopped shaking, he breathed out finally realising he was holding his breath.
'Zain...' Ayaat whispered tears falling from the side of her eyes, Zoya looked at Asad shaking her head holding her hands over her mouth to hold her tears in. 'Abbu, you're hurting me' Zoya winced seeing her head fall back into Asad's hands, he blinked staring at her face. The nurses placed her head back onto the pillow checking her up properly. The doctor stared at Asad,
'I don't know what happened, but whatever did happen, has shaken her. She's weak Mr Khan, and is completely strained. I suggest you do not stress her anymore, please fulfil whatever she is asking for. Whoever this person is that she is calling out to, find him/her, bring him here. He may aswell save your daughter's life because in this condition, forget any donor, forget any medical treatment, her mind isn't stable enough to react positively to anything.' He placed his hand on Asad's shoulder, 'I've paged Dr Sengupta. She will be here soon enough' The doctor walked out of the room leaving two heartbroken parents helplessly staring at their daughter's body.
Zoya rushed out of the room as she couldn't hold it in any longer.
'Zoya?' Asad called out behind her before looking at Ayaat,
'Abbu you're hurting me...'
Asad blinked away his tears rubbing his face with his hands crazily looking around the room. He leaned against the wall before falling onto the ground breaking into a cry, 'Abbu can never hurt you baby, I love you'
Zoya ran down the hospital corridor furiously looking around, she wiped her tears with the back of her hands. Zuhair jumped out of his seat and followed behind a senseless Zoya who speeding down the corridor. He jumped into the lift behind her wondering where she was going, he asked her a few times but she did not react to anything he said. He watched her tears fall drop by drop as she stared in front of her unaware of her surroundings. Zoya stepped out of the lift on the ground floor and rushed towards the exit before freezing in her tracks, she looked to her left to find him sat against a chair with his head against the wall, his body half falling off the seat. She ran towards him and jerked him upwards gripping his kurta. Zain's eyes opened horrified and stared at her with wide eyes,
'What happened?' He asked her; his voice full of concern.
'You said you love her na?' She questioned him before dragging him across the corridor without waiting for an answer; Zain didn't hold back as he matched her pace and followed behind her. Zuhair watched confused trying to get Zoya to release Zain but his words fell deaf to the determined mother's ears. Zain watched Zoya force him inside Ayaat's ward throwing him towards Ayaat's bed. He looked back at her holding the end of her bed for support; Asad picked his head up to find Zain inside the room with Zoya breathing heavily behind him.
'You claim you love her, so wake her up. Come on then' Zoya shouted at him, 'Make her well' She pointed at her daughter, 'After 24 hours, my daughter opened her eyes for a moment, and you know who's name she was chanting, you know who she was worried about. YOU' Zoya met Zain's teary eyes; she nodded her head at him. Zain, please I beg you.' She held her hands up at him, 'Bring her back to us' Zoya whispered falling back into Zuhair's arms. Zain looked up closing his eyes trying to hold his tears and to stop himself from breaking apart; he slowly walked around the bed and sat on the stool. His eyes went over her legs and the wires connected to her body before falling on her face. His lips quivered seeing her lying so still in front of him. He looked at his hand which was shaking before slowly placing it onto hers and holding it against his cheek whilst his other hand caressed her face.
'Ayaat?' Zain whispered softly, 'Look, it's me Zain. I'm here, everything is going to be alright' He told her, Ayaat's hand moved slightly. Zoya watched clutching onto Zuhair's shirt; Asad came and stood beside her placing his hand on her shoulder. Zain's eyes glimmered seeing her slowly lift her eyelids before closing them shut again. His thumb brushed the side of her forehead, she opened her eyes finally, her breathing sharper as they watched the oxygen mask blur. Everyone let out a relieved sigh watching her come back to life. Ayaat turned her head to the side and blinked; her eyes focused on Zain's smiling face. She tried to move her hands to stroke his face but they wouldn't budge from its place. She moved her fingers asking him to entwine his fingers with hers, she tried to speak but Zain shook his head in a no. Ayaat smiled at him watching his hand caress her face, she could see that he was shaken up and needed reassurance. Ayaat moved her head slightly,
'Kya hua?' He asked her softly, she just blinked at him. He went closer towards her; she blinked again asking him to come even closer. He placed his forehead against the side of hers, tears escaped from the side of her eyes. Zain wiped them away instantly, 'Hey, shhh. Nothing will happen, everything will be fine. Don't let go, remember' Ayaat shook her head at him before looking the other way to find her parents standing there watching her and Zain. She looked into her father's eyes; he never looked so broken but he smiled back at her. She moved her fingers against the bed, Asad watched her hands trying to say something, he jumped forward and held her hand. His other hand caressed her forehead; Zain's hand instantly fell of her head as he looked down onto the floor.
'Hey sweetie' Nikita entered the room, 'You have finally woken up' She walked around everyone and stood in front of Ayaat's bed. 'You scared us beta, how are you feeling?' Ayaat blinked at Nikita who instantly looked at Zoya, Nikita sat beside Asad and picked up the box from the side table. She prepared the injection, 'Sorry beta, it won't hurt.'
'Why are you putting her back to sleep' Asad asked her looking at the injection with wide eyes, Ayaat looked at her father,
'I love you Abbu' Ayaat whispered, Asad took her hand to his lips and kissed it. Ayaat moved her head side to side trying to assure her father and also get rid of his guilt. Nikita injected her arm before placing a kiss on her forehead.
'Good girl!' Nikita whispered, 'Stay strong sweetheart. Stay strong!' She looked at her pager that was beeping, she walked out of the room ignoring Asad's question and looked at one of the nurses, 'I want those reports asap!'
Ayaat looked at Zain trying to treasure his face in her eyes before gazing towards her father, her eyes fell on Ahsaan who was smiling back at her; he knew. Her eyes slowly blurred,
'Ayaat, we have a donor. Asim' She heard someone say in the background before everything went dark again.

Sofia sat inside the car after waving at Ayaan. She rested her head against the seat feeling weird; she had never raised her voice against her elders especially to her elder brothers. This was the first time she had spoken to Ali with so much disrespect and in her anger had said some hurtful things. At that time all she could think about was Zuhair telling her how much Ali had beaten Zain, to the point he was bleeding yet Ayaat's name remained on his lips. Any blind person would be able to understand the deepness of his love. Sofia looked at the napkin in her hand; she took it to her face and wiped her tears away. She closed her eyes for a moment before almost jumping forward on her seat with her eyes shooting open in realisation. Her eyes went down to the napkin in her hand; she opened the folds slowly; her heartbeats went erratic. Her breath was stuck in her throat as her eyes went over the familiar writing; a lone tear escaped her eyes.
'Hey, you're here?'
'How long have you been sat here?'
'For quite some time. Was meant to meet a friend but he- she never showed up!'
''Asim?' Sofia whispered closing her eyes, ''Ah-saan?' She questioned, her mind slowly registered what her eyes had just read. 'Why did you hide your real identity?' She finally asked looking out of the window replaying Asim, no Ahsaan's entry from the hospital to their house; she remembered all the text messages and linked them to their meetings. She grabbed her phone and furiously dialled his number; she wasn't calling the guy she loved, she was calling the guy that was deceiving Ayaat.
'Heyy, Sofia? Ayaat had just gained consciousness' His voice was hoarse from all the crying yet he was smiling.
'Ahsaan' Sofia whispered, her voice came out cracked. Ahsaan almost fell hearing his name from Sofia's mouth. His heartbeats went faster as he tried to control his breathing; how did she find out?
'Sofia listen to me, this is not how you think it is' Ahsaan tried to explain his situation but he didn't know where to start.
'Bills002, Ahsaan and Asim?' Sofia asked him; Ahsaan froze.
'What?' He whispered moving forward into a corner in disbelief.
'What would you prefer to be called? Because I feel like I don't know you anymore, not even Bills002. How could you deceive us?''
'Listen to me; this is not how you think it is. Sofia, how, you, Soap?' Ahsaan choked out in shock,
'Does Ayaat know about your deception?' Sofia finally asked him, a lone tear escaped his eyes.
'Soap, Sofia listen to me-' He looked at his phone as the line went dead. He pressed his forehead; his world was definitely falling apart, first Ayaat and now the love of his life.
'Asim?' Zoya called out to him, he looked up with teary eyes before standing on his feet. She placed her hand on his cheek lovingly wiping away his tears, 'What happened?' She whispered cupping his face.
'Ma- Aunty, I don't know how to sort my life out' Ahsaan stared at Zoya, 'I am not a good person' He shook his head.
'Asim, beta. Who says you're not a good person. You are a good person, why else would you agree to save a girl who is not even related to you?' She asked him; Asim shook his head 'Because, because beta, listen to me, because you believe in relationships made from the heart, with love. A person who can love, who uses their heart; they can never be a bad person. Those who actually think from their heart know the difference between right and wrong.' Zoya kissed his forehead, 'I don't know how to thank you for agreeing to become our donor, I have already lost one child, I wouldn't be able to survive if anything happens to her.' Zoya cried, Ahsaan wiped her tears away.
'Please don't thank me. I haven't done anything, the test results haven't come back yet. I wholeheartedly have accepted her as my sister and I'm doing this for my sister' Ahsaan explained feeling his heart melt seeing the mother in front of him in tears. He wanted to wipe away all her pain.
'Seriously beta, thank you so much' Asad came behind Zoya and brushed his hair. 'I still can't believe it; it seems too good to be true'
'BECAUSE IT IS' Came a sniggering voice from behind. Ahsaan looked passed Asad and Zoya,
'Mama' Ahsaan whispered quietly,
'Huh?' Asad and Zoya creased their forehead in confusion before slowly turning around; the past 18 years flashed before their eyes as their eyes landed on Tanveer,
'Tanveer!' Zoya fisted her hands.
