If you are against abortion and believe rape victims should give birth to their rapists child, then you should refrain from posting here. I am not here to discuss whether abortion is good or bad; you are entitled to believe what you want and I would appreciate if you would keep those views to yourself. The issue here is whether you agree with the idea that pushing a woman to give birth to her rapists child is acceptable. While it might be hers, it is still her rapists. Additionally, it is pointing out EK's agenda.

It is evident from PV storylines where EK stands on the issue of abortion - she is pro-life even the cases of incest and rape. When her character does have an abortion - as in the case of Varsha - it is shown as a selfish and bitter act and one that results in a penalty for the individual: no future children.
What EK is promoting through her character Shanshank is WRONG. Every woman has the right to decide if she wants to carry a child and especially the child of her rapist. No-one should be chastised or punished in making them do this act. It might be possible for some women and for others it might not be. Can you image what it must feel like to be forced to carry your rapists child only to find out later? Some women do not want any reminders.

Also, when a woman is raped, EK could have shown the woman undergo a rape kit test and obtain necessary contraceptives to prevent pregnancy. EK does not care for providing women with this knowledge and then creates false information whereby her characters can obtain DNA tests of children that are not even born! Seriously EK.

While a show has a job to entertain, it also has a social responsibility to not lie and use the show for its own personal propaganda. That is a serious wrongdoing.

Ekta kapoor is only pro trp's, nothing else.

She decides whether a baby shud live or die depending on how the track can be shaped ahead. A legitimate, normal baby like varsha's or arman's first kid (who died) does nothing for trp's, so make varsha undergo abortion and make arman's kid die to make manav's personality go thru a change.
On the flip side, a kid conceived outside marriage, conceived due to rape, kid in a problem family- now these are fodder for twists ahead so they will live even if the mother is shown to fall 100 times during pregnancy. Shravani got hurt so many times during her pregnancy but the kid made it.
So u see, nothing to do with ekta's personal stand on this issue. Though it istrue that Indian soaps do not show abortions. In almost every show where a heroine goes thru abortion, they later show she cannot be a mother again- the punishment from god.

So the channel and producers have a very conservative stance. Sad.

I feel very frustrated about that myself. I'm not saying its necessary to abort the child in such a case, but the decision should solely be the mother's. Mansi has every right to know and if she doesn't want the baby, she should go for abortion. Once and later she gets to know, the baby will remind her of that horrendous incident in her life. Also, the baby's going to suffer too inevitably without any fault. Not to mention the taunts of her mother-in-law and several other insular people once the truth comes out. So sad. Its 2014, at least show some progressive thinking in TV shows now at least.

Its terrible to watch and realize that this sort of misinformation etc is being promoted on TV.

Mansi has right to know. This is HER RIGHT.

Its amazing how everyone in this show just decides what right a person has and what not. Mansi has right to justice from the rape but no knowlege of the paternity of her child.

Well said. If Mansi was past the time for an abortion or wanted to keep the child, it becomes HER decision but for Shashank not to tell her is so wrong. It goes to show that a woman does not have a right to decide what to do with her body and presents her as a vehicle for baby production. The negative connotation associated with abortion is wrong in many ways and sends the message that a rape victim is obligated to have the child that is conceived. And that is NOT right as this is a health issue and not what is required of the woman.

When you have politicians talking about rape as an accident or making comments like "boys will be boys" and women promoting their ideals, what else do you get even in the 21st.

You are spot on there...all to often Archana keeps telling her children and grandchildren that it is her right to decide for them and make their decisions. It's really pathetic as these women - Purvi and Pari are supposed to be top business women...I guess for EK just putting them in front of a laptop and going to meetings suddenly makes them real business women...

There is nothing wrong with being anti-abortion on all counts. If anything, it is being consistent in your beliefs. For most pro-life abortion is about believing that the fetus is a live being. If your opinion on abortion is that it is wrong bc it is a human being, then why does rape suddenly change what is inside the body. It still a human being but the rape makes it not a human being? That is not consistent

Now before everybody starts bashing me, read this part. Mansi has every right to know whether that child is Ranaq or Shashank. Shashank is extremely wrong to make this decision for her by misleading. However, the whole pv is about people making decisions for others.

As for social responsibility, PV is a buisness. They don't need to care about social responsibility because their goal is to make money. People need to learn and teach their kids that TV is not real life. TV is a business and has no responsibilty to teach them anything. People need to raise their own kids and educate themselves through books and documentary instead of expecting a drama series to due it for them
