In the company of women

After Sonam Nair who directed the teenage drama,Gippi (2013) for him, Karan Johar has two more promising women directors on his radar " Gauri Shinde and Kiran Rao. Mirror has it that Karan has shown keen interest in their upcoming projects and expressed his desire to produce them under his banner Dharma Productions.
While he has had multiple meetings with Gauri discussing her project, he has also spoken to Kiran about hers. This puts Kiran in a kind of a spot, as now she might have to choose between her home banner Aamir Khan Productions and Dharma.
Some time ago, Mr Perfectionist had said in an interview that he'd love to star in his wife's next provided it appeals to his "creative instincts".
"Kiran is working on a script. She is very secretive about what she writes. I like it that way. I like to get surprised. I would like to be in a film and in whatever she does. But, I have to be honest to my creative instincts. If I don't like it, I will not do it," he had then said.
Gauri and Kiran have both kept the details of their respective projects under wraps.
However, buzz is that Gauri's film will be a social comedy unlike her debut venture English Vinglish. Sridevi, who made her comeback with the woman-centric film, and has become a close friend of the director, might be a part of her next as well.
On the other hand, Kiran, who considers herself "very much a Calcutta girl" is planning a film with roots in the city she was born and brought up in. It is to be seen if like she did in her maiden venture Dhobi Ghat, she gets hubby Aamir feature in his next.
