CHAPTER 10 - SOLACE

I don't know why I keep on loving you despite the fact that I'll get hurt again just like before. I never learn cause I don't want to. Not now when I'm still strong to fall for you over and over again.
*Flashback*
I was pacing the room fully worried. He still isn't here. Its been 4 hours where did he go? I tried my best but I know that I really can't stop caring and thinking about him. What will I say when he gets here?
" Randhir! Where the hell were you? Why didn't you tell me you were going? "
It sounds downright rude na!
" Randhir.. Umm... You had some work? Any emergency? "
This sounds stupid!
" Randhir.. Woh.. Mrs.Malhotra was searching for you.. She asked me where you were and to inform you as soon as you come back.. "
And this is a clear excuse! Huff!
" Randhir! May I please know where you have been all this time? "
Too cheesy!
" Randhir.. Umm.. "
Forget it! I really can't think of anything. He drives me this crazy! Im planning on how to ask him where he was! And why do I have to know where he was? I don't care anymore. If he comes, he will enter this room first so I will just glance him once and leave. Won't even ask him! But he has to come right! Where is he? Gawd!!!
Its been 15 mins and Im still not moving out of this room. Akshay and Sanjana must be waiting for me to join them. They are already getting late and the weather doesn't seem so reliable to walk down home. I'll message them to dine and get to home and cuz I might get late. Better!
" Akshay, You and Sanjana plz start with your dinner. Im waiting for someone and I might get late. Don't wait for me."
" You sure? " replied Akshay.
" Pretty much. thanks for asking :) "
" But do eat and leave, Sanyukta! I will meet you before we leave ok? "
" Yeah, sure! "
Done. Now when will this maniac come? I kept pacing the room again.. I could feel my stomach yelling at me to feed it asap. He isn't coming or what? Who knows what's in that bird brain of his! He is so irritating! This is enough now. Im going to have my dinner and leave then. I don't care when he comes and what he does. This ended my thought process as I started towards the exit of the rehearsal room. I stumbled into a chair but I managed to compose myself. My head started spinning as I tried to stand up straight. Might be because of hunger I thought and I started walking holding my head with my right hand and my left was holding my lehnga(ghagra).
I was limping slightly due to the recent hurt on my foot. I suddenly felt a hold on my dupatta. A bolt or screw must have caught it I thought. I turned back and stood glued and stunned at the sight in front of me. Randhir.
Tears started forming in my eyes. I tried my best to hold them back. He was standing with his head hanging down and his hand holding my dupatta. I neared him in a reflex as my foot twitched in pain. I got close to him as I started groping his face and limbs with my eyes. My hands made there way to his face. I cupped his cheeks and forced him to look at me.
I could feel my head spinning. My eyes were shutting down as I forcibly opened them to look at him.
" Randhir... Ar..are.. you alright ? " I managed to ask.
" Sanyukta, yes I am. Don't worry this is just a.. "
" Just a?? Do you even have any idea how worried I was? " I said as I held his hands.
" I would come back to take my bag Sanyukta so why did you hafta worry this much? "
" Huh? Randh... " I said as I was losing my grip on his hands.
He realised the lost of hold on his hands. He lifted his gaze to look at me.
" Sanyukta! Sanyukta...? " he said as he neared me.
" Ran... Randh.. " I said as my eyes shut down completely and my head fell back.
He held me and stopped me from crashing to the floor.
" Sanyukta.. Sanyukta! Open your eyes! What happened? Sanyukta! Listen to me! "
" Sanyukta, this isn't funny! What happened! open your eyes! " he said as he shook me up.
*3rd person pov from now*
He made her sit down and lean to a wall as he ran to get some water. He sprinkled water on her face. He panicked as Sanyukta still didn't gain consciousness.
" Sanyukta? Saanyukta open your eyes once! " he said
He looked at the time on his watch. It was 9.50 pm. The school would close soon and he panicked even more. He ran outside to find some help but he couldn't. He came back into the room. Akshay! He thought. He took out his mobile to call for Akshay and atleast ask him what was wrong. He was about dial his number when he spotted a new msg on her mobile.
" Sanyukta, we had dinner and we got back home. The weather isn't that good. Did you have dinner? You had nothing since morning. Please eat and get to home asap and tell me when you are home. See you tomorrow. Gunnite! :) "
" Shit! Akshay already left! " Randhir thought.
" Sanyukta, why didn't you eat anything since morning? Open your eyes dammit! "
" Sanyukta, aankhe kholo! Just once! Please! "
He neared her and hugged her tight.
" Sanyukta, wake up! I beg you! Without you I won't be able to... " He stopped.
He was engulfed with pain and fear. It was a labyrinth of insecurities in his mind. He could no more feel his heart beat. He hugged her tighter. He shut his eyes as he could feel a lone tear cascading down his cheek.. One after the other. He sobbed harder. He held her hand and brushed his lips past her knuckles. He hugged her again and hid his face in the crook of her neck.
" Ahh.. "
He heard that voice and released her to look at her. Her eyes fluttered open. He smiled wide at her.
* end of 3rd person pov now it continues like in the flashback from Sanyukta's pov *
" My head... " I said.
" Sanyukta, here, drink some water. " he said.
He was ecstatic to see her conscious.
" Are you alright ? " he asked as his palm caressed my cheek.
I nodded in response.
" Why didn't you eat anything till now ? " he asked with his voice filled with concern.
" You... " I said.
" What ? Me ? "
" I was.. wai..waiting for.. you. "
He mentally scolded himself for being responsible for all this..
" Im sorry Sanyukta.. I didn't mean to.. "
" Randhir Singh Shekawat and sorry! World wonder! " I chuckled.
He looked at me in an awe as his lips formed into a small smile.
" It isn't your fault.. Its okay. " I said.
" Lets go and eat now you shouldn't be deprived of food for even a second now " he quipped.
" Randhir.. " I said.
He looked at me asking me to say what I wanted to.
"Your forehead and your cheek, how did it happen? "
" They are just small bruises Sanyukta, Im fine. "
" Small? They are bleeding! You blind? How did it happen? "
" I was walking down the roads and a bike dashed me so I fell down and this happened. "
" Where did you go anyway ? "
" Not to a particular place. I was randomly roaming on roads. "
" But why? "
" I felt the need to. I wasn't that well and I didn't wanted to trouble anyone. The school was roaring with music and dance so my head started throbbing. I needed some time alone. "
"Hmm.. " I said. I knew what the exact reason was.. He wanted some time alone from me.. from all this closeness.. from the sudden changes in our lives. So I didn't cajole him further.
I put an end to my thoughts and smiled at him as he helped me up from the floor.
He held my hand with his left as he held me by my shoulder with his right. I shivered at his touch. His proximity felt so different. This care and affection was new to me. I didn't lknow how to react to it. I was too elated to say something. There was a different Solace in his embrace, in him, with him.
He helped me to the dinner place. There wasn't anybody.. Workers and 2-3 staff members. He made me sit on the chair as he left to get something for us to eat.
He came back with two plates and sat beside me. We ate a little, stealing glances at each other.
I refused for a second helping and so did he. We got up to leave the school and get to our houses.
He again walked out with me holding me by my shoulder. I couldn't help the crimson creep up my cheeks whenever he neared me. I even knew that pretty well observed that everytime and this makes me blush harder.
" How will you go? " he asked dragging me out of my thoughts.
" On foot! " I said.
" Like this? "
" Im fine. I can walk that distance its okay. I do everyday! "
" You don't stumble into chairs and tables everyday. Do you? "
" Not exactly! " I giggled in embarrassment.
" Walk you will ? "
" Yup! How are you going? "
" I can manage anyway! You aren't going alone walking in this state at all! "
" Haww! Why so? You can and I can't? you are hurt too! "
" Cuz imma guy and you are a girl! "
"That's not justified! "
" You aren't a girl? " he said with his lips forming an 'O'
" Huh? I didn't mean it that way.. "
" You aren't walking home and that's final! No more arguments. "

So how was this chapter? Im going out for 6 days so I wont be able to update till june 3rd.. I will try my best to update again tomorrow but I wont guarantee that! Sorry for a delay! Will be regular after june 3rd. Promise😳
