The goblet of fire and Triwizard cup have a looong history and lots of rules and regulations.. were banned for ages until finally revoking the ban in 4th book.. the cup and the goblet were only one of a kind to enter Hogwarts under immense security..

I do not affect most living things.

I am one of the oldest in my category.
I aided both Potter and Crouch.

I first appeared in Goblet of Fire, and among other things, helped Potter get away from the Dark Lord to safety.

Fred and George Weasley would have been in a lot less trouble if I had not been used; then again, I saved them from getting whipped!

What am I?

(Pretty obscure , but it should be enough)
