Abou the last update the Donald Duck reference is to take back to Khushi's father mentioning that he will marry her to someone like Donald Duck who will make her laugh like that. Arnav did make her laugh a lot but his teasing was much better. Especially MUAHHH!!!

Khushi was getting bored...amma n bauji were busy with wedding preparations and jeeji seemed to be fevicoled to her mobile phone...and it had not escaped her that Aakash too seemed equally glued to the phone while at office...

She was about to go and disturb Payal when her phone rang..

"Hello.."

"Hello.."..a husky voice replied...

Khushi slowly grabbed onto the couch handrest...

"A..Aap...mujhe phone kyun kar rahe ho..?.."

("You...why are you calling me..")

"Kyu...have you resigned from your job..?"

("Why shouldn't I..have you resigned form your job..?")

"Huh..?"

"You are still Aakash's P.A..right..?..I need some information about the meeting you both attended last week...with Mr Rajiv Agarwal from United Exporters.."

"File Akash sir ke paas hai..aap dono ek hi ghar me rehthe ho na..phir mujhe phone kyu kar rahe ho..?"

("The file is with Akash sir...you both are staying in same house right..")

"Kyunki ki woh subah se phone se chipka haua hai...dammit..when I ask him anything, he has only 1 reply...Khushiji ko pata hai..and thats why I am calling you.."

("Thats because he has been glued to his phone since morning..dammit..when I ask him anything, he has only 1 reply...Khushiji would know..and thats why I am calling you..")

"Hey Devi maiyya..kal hi toh ye dono sagaai mein mile the..ab ithni baatein karthe rahenge tho phone garam ho jayega..."

("Hey Devi maiyya..it was only yesterday that these 2 met during the engagement...if they keep on talking like this..their phones are going to get heated up.. ")

"Khushi..details of the meeting..?."Arnav brought her rambling to a halt..

"Haan haan..teek hai..mai aa rahi hoon...Shantivan naam ghar me rahthe hai..par kabhi kisi ko ek minute ke liye bhi shaanth se rehne nahin dethe.."

("OK..fine..I am coming...stays in a house called Shathivan..but lets anyone stay peacefully for even a second...")

"I heard that Khushi Kumari Gupta.."

"Toh acha hi hua..bade aaye Laad G..."

("well...good for you then...Laad G")

Khushi cut the call and walked to the cup board to get a change of clothes..She had thought of lazying away on the Sunday after a hectic day filled with sagai preparations..and on top of that, she was not able to sleep last night..

Though she had successfully avoided any talks with Arnav after she rejoined the party, she could still feel his heated gaze on her all through the rest of the night..

And even when she had reached home and showered and got into her bed, she could still smell his cologne on her..Her strawberry shower gel reduced to a faint one..Her lips felt a little swollen..Sleep had evaded her..

Hey Devi Maiyya...woh Laad Governor...aage se main usse sau feet door hi rahoonghi..kahin amma ya Anjaliji ne dekhi hothi tho..

(Hey Devi Maiyya..that Laad Governor...from now on I am going to stay minimum 100 feet away from him...what if Amma or Anjali had spotted us...)

Khushi knew she had to stay away from him..but now that jeeju was pushing her on the work front, there was little she could do, but interact with Arnav regularly..

Shanthivan

Arnav was having his Sunday brunch when Khushi was welcomed by Anjali with a hug..She was now seated in the living room couch, talking to Naniji and sipping on tea..

NK was hovering nearby..leaving his female audience in splits with his broken hindi..

Arnav had had enough and got up..

"Khushi...get the file from Akash and meet me at the..poolside..now.."

Khushi's eyes widened at the last word and she quickly walked towards Akash's room..

"Chotte..tum bhi naa..abhi abhi to woh aayi thi.."..Anjali chided him..

("Chotte..let her be..its been just a few minutes since she has come..")

But he went up the stairs ignoring the irritated looks on everyone's faces..

especially that idiot NK's...

"Yeh raha file...issme saare details hai..ab main neeche jaaon..?

("Here's your file...this has all the details..can I go now..?")

Khushi kept the file on the small coffe table on the poolside and asked..having turned towards the french windows in the hope of a quick exit..

"Stop right there..even I could have taken this file from his room...what I want is your opinion on their team..did they seem honest..flustered...ill-prepared...how quickly they came up with the answers to our queries..did they fumble..?..these are the things I want to know..now sit here and tell me everything about that meeting.."

Khushi sighed and sat on the lounge chair..and the discussion about the meeting stretched until lunchtime...

The chit chat after the lunch time had drifted off to the topic of the engagement party held on the previous day...

And NK was busy showing everyone the photographs he had taken...on his laptop...

And suddenly Lavanya's pictures came up...Luckily mamiji and Naniji were not with them and hence NK continued to show the younger lot the model-like poses that Lavanya was in...

As they were into the last few pictures, Anjali asked NK to scroll back a few pics...and she asked him to give her the laptop...NK was asking something to Khushi and Arnav who was sitting on left side of Anjali looked at the screen trying to see what had caught her attention...

He saw her zooming into the pic..It had Lavanya lying on the poolside chair in a relaxed laughing manner..and as NK had taken it from a low angle, the background showed the floor from the chair to the wall...

Anjali found what she was looking for..It was a piece of a hem of a lehenga...the same color that Khushi had worn for the ceremony..but what had really made her pause was the object right in front of that..at very close proximity to the lehenga...It was a brown footwear, worn by someone in a white attire..

As Arnav finally saw the zoomed in image, he coughed on the water he was sipping..Anjali turned to face him with just one question burning through her mind..And when she saw Arnav's reaction and the kid-with-hand-in-cookie jar look on his face, she got the confirmation..as she remembered that only one member of the family had worn custom made brown leather footwear to the party...

Anjali knew that her brother would never agree to it being him with Khushi at poolside...he had found a bride..but would never agree so easily to be the bridegroom...and as always..Anjali had a plan up her sleeve...

"Mamiji...aapko nahin lagtha ki NK ke liye ab humein ladki doondni chahiye..?"

("Mamiji...don't you think that we should start looking for a suitable birde for NK..?..")

Mamiji and naniji looked at her as of she had gone bonkers..

"Hello hi bye bye...Anjali bitya..what are you sayings...NK aur shaadi...jo abhi tak kindergarten level ki Hindi bhi nahin bol sakath hain.."

("Hello hi bye bye...Anjali bitya..what are you sayings..NK's wedding..?..the one who can't even speak Kindergarten level Hindi..?.")

"Mamiji..Hindi jaanna aur shaadi karna..dono mein kya connection hai..aap bhi na.."

("Mamiji...ability to speak Hindi and being ready for marriage..there is no connection between the two..")

Naniji asked..."lekin bitya..Arnav usse umar main bade hain..aur pehle humein uske liye ladki delhna chahiye.."

("But Anjali...Arnav is elder to him..we need to find someone for him first..")

"Naniji..aap chotte ko tho jaanthe hain..woh kabhi shadi ke liye haan nahin karnewale..agar hum uske liye wait karein toh phir bechare NK ko sansyaas ke liye jaana padega.."

("Naniji..you kn now Chotte very well..he is not going to get married anytime soon,,and if we keep waiting for him, our poor NK will have to remain unmarried for rest of his life..")

NK who was till now listening to the conversation while munching on a pappad choked on it...

"Dekhiye na..aap hi samjhayiye.."

("Please...only you can convince them now...")

Anjali turned to Shyam as her last resort...who then spent he next hour convincing both Naniji and Mamiji...

And once they seemed to be OK with the idea, Anjali introduced Khushi's name as a strong prospect to be the bride for NK...which was met with cheers from the members of the Raizada family wgo were present there..

It escaped everyone's attention that there was one member of the family who was thoroughly unhappy that Khushi's name was considered for being NK's wife...

The Guptas were highly elated when the Raizadas came to them with a proposal for Khushi...Garima was over the moon thinking that Khushi and Payal would share the same sasuraal...

Khushi was stunned to know that she was considered a match for...NK...he was just her friend..her colleague..she could never imagine someone in place of her..Laad Governor...

But there was nothing that she could say to stop this proposal from going forward...

What can I tell them...that I am not ready for marriage..but amma would just put that down as my shyness...can I say that me and Laad G..no..they wouldn't know how he has changed..they wouldn't know what all has happened since then..that day at the poolside..

She knew that Arnav was not someone who expresses himself very well..

He chooses a different way to show his care..be it anger, frustration or..or...

What am I gonna do now..Hey Devi Maiyya..please help me...

And when a dear devotee made such a heartfelt plea, Devi Maiyya could never ignore it..

He was frustrated...He could never let this marriage to take place..He could not let go of her...She was the love of his life...

But the drama queens filled family of his was not listening to his opinion on this..They were already planning to make an official announcement about NK and Khushi on Aakash and Payal's wedding day...He decided to speak to Shyam who seemed to be the only sane one around...

He knew what had to be done...He realised that it would be a drastic step..It might hurt his family's feelings..but they will come around..After all they would never stand in the way of his happiness..

Arnav tried to tell Khushi to not get worried..He had met Khushi several times during the wedding preparations...and each time he tried to talk to her, someone would interrupt them...He had tried talking to her over phone..but that almost ended up in a disaster when Payal had answered instead and if she had not identified herself, Arnav would have spilled the details of the plan to Payal...

Shanthivan..after Payal and Akash's wedding

Payal had done the grihapravesh and they were now seated with some close family members and friends..It was here that Anjali and Naniji had decided to make a small announcement on Nk and Khushi's marriage...

As they stood up to greet everyone, they heard the front door to Shanthivan being opened...As they all turned to see who the guests were, only Shyam had a clear idea of who they would be..

Anjali's eyes fell on the garlands first..the red and white flowers on it..and her gaze moved slowly upwards..she was stunned to see the 2 of them together..like that..side by side..and she..wearing a mangalsutra...!!!

How could they...??This was not what she had expected...Her plan had royally backfired..It was Mamiji's shreak that brought her back to her senses..."NK bitwa..what is the happenings...?" Shyam moved to her side and replied for NK.."no need to freak out Mamiji...NK has just proven that knowledge of Hindi has no connection to getting married.."..He then went to the threshold to usher in the newlyweds..NK and Lavanya..Slowly the other family members joined them too..

NK earned a slap on his shoulder from Anjali while Mamiji was still standing a little far..miffed with him..but when they both bowed down to take her blessings, she relented..After all she had liked Lavanya when they had met during Payal's engagement ceremony..

Khushi was stunned to see her colleague and best friend married to NK.the playboy...she must have fallen hook, line and sinker for that parking ticket wala line..when Lavanya looked at Khushi sheepishly, Khushi smiled back..Thank God Lavanya had fallen for NK..she was going mad on finding a convincing reason to stall the proposal of NK for herself..

She was hugging Lavanya who was shedding tears of happiness..when she saw Shyam and Arnav standing nonchalantly...looking at the family hugging and crying at same time..

She slowly let go of Lavanya and moved to them..Shyam saw Khushi's expressions and made a quick exit from there..
"Aap jaanthe the..?..Jabse yeh rishte ki baath huyi thi..main raath ko soyi thak nahin hoon...din raath yeh sochkar paagal ho rahi thi ki iss shaidi ko kaise main rokun..aur aapko patha tha ki kya hone wala hain..aapne mujhe bathaana zaroori nahin samjha..?"

("You knew..?all this time?..there I was..spending sleepless nights...spending each passing second to find a way to stop my wedding...and you knew what was going to happen?...you did not find it necessary to inform me..?..")

Khushi spoke in a hurt tone..Arnav knew he should have told her..but how could he..as soon as Shyam had told him about NK's wish to marry Lavanya and not Khushi, he wanted to inform Khushi..but he could not risk someone else getting to know..
"Khushi..I had tried to talk to you...magar mauka mila hi nahin...I did not get a single chance...plus I couldn't jeopardize NK's plans..but you do know that no matter what, I would never have let your marriage to take place with someone else..You...belong with me.."

Khushi sobbed and moved forward..hugging him and hiding her face in his chest..

Now it was Lavanya's turn to be shocked..

Khushi hugging her khadoos boss...??!!

Anjali was over the moon..even though she now had got a bhabhi in bonus, this was what she had originally wanted..that is why she had taken Khushi's name for NK...and she was surprised and getting more and more worried when Arnav seemed unaffected as the day for the announcement had got closer...but now she knew why..

"Toh chotte...yeh sab aapka plan tha...?.."

(""Chotte..was this all your plan..?)

"No Di..it was actually planned by NK and... your..husband.."

Anjali glared at Shyam who tried to hide behind Naniji..oh how he was going to be punished for keeping something like this from her...

Anjali decided to deal with her traitor of a husband later and turned to Naniji...

"Naniji..aaj main bahuth khush hoon..mujhe aaj ek nahin..do bhabhiyan mili hai..!!"

("Naniji..I am so happy today...I have got not one..but two (elder)sister in laws...!!")

As everyone laughed in agreement, Arnav grabbed Khushi by her waist..who was now standing next to him...into a side hug and kissed her forehead..

He felt happy..he felt content...they both had acknowledged their feelings and their families had approved..Very soon she would join him at Shanthivan..His lips curled into a smile at the thought of sharing the rest of his life with his Khushi...his eternal happiness...!!!

The one who was thoroughly unhappy with Khushi's name being taken for the marriage..thinking about a 'she'(Lavanya) as the love of his life..the one talking to Shyam..It was all NK..and not Arnav..hope you all liked this story...PLEASE PLEASE comment my friends...😊
