Hey Gem,

Tansen was a Brahmin, son of Makarand Pandey.

And Raja TodarMal was a Khatri Rajput, { as per most accounts }, born in Lahore, Punjab.
As per Badayuni, his first entry is recorded around 1562-63.!!!. {Vol.2, Pg-65}

Hi Kshiti,

Wonderfully put. šŸ‘ I agree with all your points. Wish to highlight one now.

Yesterday, for the first time, we saw flashes of Akbar rising within Jalal. He is changing and how! The way he spoke to Salima about wishing to surround himself with men of talent, dedication to work, loyalty and honesty instead of yes-men and backstabbers just because they were related to him, showed his mental and emotional growth and maturity. He is coming into his own. First he came out of the shadow of BK. Now he is out of the clutches of MA. He is gaining confidence and willing to experiment to improve his own ruling style and the conditions in his sultanat and those of his people.

Another noteworthy thing is that he is rising above social barriers while choosing his new team. He is giving weightage only to talent and experience, not the religious. social, or familial background. This is vintage Akbar. He welcomed all with open arms. He is also willing to give this new team the power and autonomy it needs to function effectively. This kind of delegation is extremely important because he cannot handle everything himself while running such a huge empire and fighting wars too.

Yes, He needs honest men around him. None of the Empires flourished by a SINGLE ruler or with the presence of traitors, be it Romans, Byzantine or any other.!!. Jalal is ON right track.

Yes, there are a whole lot of "Hindus", esp "Ameris" in his team now. Starting from Jodha's family. (Even Tejwant is now part of Jo's family, he is not an outsider.) But we will be doing a great disservice to Akbar if we continue to refer to them as Hindus or Ameris. Because Jalal took them on board for their loyalty, bravery, talent and experience. Not because they belonged to Jo's family or to her faith. Like Donjas mentioned above, his team also had Muslims like Rahim and Abul Fazl. He also met and interacted with people from other faiths and gave equal respect to all.

It seems we all are appreciating the addition of people from different BG's in Agra. Esp. TodarMal carries a sense of regality with him. Yes, Well said. Abul Fazl, Faizi and their father Sheikh Mubarak were very liberal. Infact, they suffered exploitation at the hands of orthodox clergy due to their liberal nature.šŸ˜•

I do want to see Jo back in Agra. But as Mansi rightly pointed out, Jalal needs this time and space to overhaul his kingdom and his rule. And Jo too is getting the time needed to heal and appreciate the goodness of Jalal. I really like the way the political developments are unfolding, starting from the downfall of MA, which was the end of the petticoat govt and the beginning of the birth of Akbar the Great. This transition period is going to be very interesting, as we see the old guard digging their own graves and a whole new team infusing fresh blood into the system.

We will get to know today, about the reasons behind Jodha returning to Agra. But, she is NOT returning for Shivani. It seems so.šŸ˜‰

I don't want Jo to come for simply the wedding like an invited guest or even because Jalal has revoked the tirth kar. I don't understand the relation between the tax removal and her hurt/self-respect. He may be showing respect for her sentiments in this regard but that does not in any way translate to any assurance that he will not mistrust her in future. If she comes back, it should be because in her mind and heart, she is now clear that she cannot live without him and that she needs to give him and their relationship a chance. Anything else will be a poor excuse used by the CVs.

Nice post..Kshiti and Radhika. Replies in blue.

Jaya and Kaana (sorry, writing to both together because both of you have raised same point)

I agree with you that it looks like an excuse. also it's not important who influenced him, what matters is that he got influenced. Till here, we are in sync.

Jaya, you have mentioned how going forward, they should tell each other everything. No holds barred. This is how trust develops.

I feel he should be open with Jodha about everything, here on. Even if it sounds like an excuse to her or she feels that earlier he trusted MA and tomorrow he may trust someone else, he should honestly tell her what had happened. When a couple is separated by someone, both of them must know the reality of the person who tried to separate them. I would want to know who had caused an MU between me and my husband. It may not serve any purpose at the moment. But it gives me an assurance that my husband is open with me. And it makes me alert to that person in future.

If I know Jodha correctly, she will not take it as an excuse by Jalal. She knows about MA and she will realize that Jalal too was a victim of circumstances just like her. Even recently, she was telling dadisa that how could he suspect her? She is still unable to see things from his POV. She thinks he is solely responsible for his actions that night. But if she learns that he was manipulated by MA, she will be able to see things from his POV also. This is very important for her to overcome her present hurt state of why did he suspect her.

It's not a simple case of MA said and Jalal threw Jodha out. MA had to spin a devious plot this time. So Jodha will understand that it was not a case of Jalal misunderstanding her deliberately and trusting MA blindly. If she knows the entire sequence of events, she will understand to what length MA went this time to separate her from Jalal.

My belief is that Jalal was also a victim of MA's plotting like Jodha. So it is not fair for him if Jodha keeps on thinking he suspected her on his own. She has to know that he was forced to suspect her because such circumstances were created by MA. He had not put any blind faith in MA this time. He had kept his faith alive in Jodha till the end when he saw Sujamal in Jodha's room. So it is very important that Jodha should know why he acted the way he did. Only then will she be able to resolve the hurt inside.

I know now that Jodha is coming back. But she has still not resolved this hurt. She is only happy about the repeal of the tax on pilgrims. If the hurt isn't resolved, it can keep raising its head from time to time. Just like Jalal still remembers the dhakka from time to time. (He needs someone to read the paigam for him to resolve his hurt completely.)

Another thing is that MA is still around. And she is still actively plotting. Last night I saw the spoiler on Ela's thread that said Ruq will declare to be pregnant when JJ are planning to have their SR. And some of us had felt this may be another Ruq/MA plot to separate JJ again.

So Jodha has to know the real face of MA so that she can be careful of her after returning to Agra. Or she may again inadvertently fall for her plots.

If not Jalal, I hope at least Salima should tell Jodha everything on her return.

What do you two feel?
