We the live-alones

Staying away from your family, all alone, in a busy metropolitan like Mumbai is no cakewalk. Except from the only plus, that's FREEDOM; there's a plenitude of duties hanging like a sword on a daily basis…be it cooking, cleaning, paying bills and a plethora of other chores.

We thought of enquiring with some of those actors from the TV fraternity who, along with managing their career, have been engaged in the Herculean task of managing their home all by themselves.

Mouni Roy

Staying alone is a luxury when you have the right support system and I am self-sufficient. To aid me, my dad has got me a maid from Delhi. As I have experienced a hostel life for five-six years I am capable of managing everything, from paying bills to doing other stuff. My domestic life is pretty cool.

Ashiesh Roy

A bachelor's life is fun. It's the ultimate symbol of self-independence. You come and go as you please, the whole bathroom is just for you, you enjoy monopoly over the remote control, you can get away with throwing your clothes all over the house and one can also play the hi-fi really loud! The flip side is that you have to make your own morning coffee. My maid is 60 year old Maharashtrian lady who's like my adopted mother as she has been with me since nine years. She cooks for me and also has the house keys. A major problem of living alone as a bachelor is that you are branded immoral by the society.

Geetanjali Tikekar

My domestic life is bliss. It is hectic yet fulfilling. I cook on a daily basis. I do have a maid but I do my own laundry, particularly when it comes to expensive clothes. All bills are personally paid by me. I drive my own car, no driver needed. However, I do have a personal security guard hired for my safety. It was my father's idea after not-so-pleasant experiences of strangers banging my door.

Gaurrav Chanana
Right now I am living on a rental basis and am managing my home ground pretty well. I have a man Friday and a maid, who have been there with me since two years. . My upbringing has made me self-sufficient. I was taught to make bed by myself even when I used to stay in Delhi with my family. I can cook even for guests. I look into all aspects of running a house.

Poonam Joshi
I stay with my room mate. Since the time I came to Mumbai for a career I have been managing things. I cook whenever time permits. I have a driver and a full-time maid who takes cares of the basic household chores. I am quite domesticated and can manage on my own. One needs to be careful and organized in a metro like Mumbai.
