The Growing Affection
The moon turned bright and it was almost midnight when Swayam drove his car along with Tanya sitting right beside him. Since the moment they have entered in the car they have tied their tongues. While Swayam was busy in taking glances of her, she would catch him almost everytime. Unknown to him, she was constantly blushing with his shameless ogling.
"Um...aur kitna time lagega?" She asked in a soft voice and he felt like a soft music playing inside his ears. "Swayam?!" She called him out of his dreamland.
He looked at her after realising what he was doing. ' Oh God Swayam!! Stop behaving like a love sick puppy.' He mentally cursed himself. "Um..just 15 minutes.." He smiled sheepishly.
While she turned her gaze back to the window, he adjusted his back view mirror. It was then he noticed a black car following them. Sensing something suspicious, he took his car on another route.
"Arre!! Mera ghar dusri taraf hai!" Tanya said loudly.
"Sshh! Just wait.." His attention concentrated on the car behind them. He drove his car to normal speed while his eyes inspected the mirror almost every second to have a look at the car behind. He moved his car a little towards the edge of the road while giving the other person side. But no matter what, they keep on driving behind them.
"Tum kar kya rahe ho?!" She rolled her eyes in frustration.
"Ek baat batao?? Tum kahi apne saath secret body guards leke to nahi chalti na?!!" He said while his focus lied on the car chasing them. She was utterly confused. He looked at her instantly understanding her confusion.
"Look behind. Vo car humara peecha kafi der se kar rahi hai. Vo mere dad ke aadmi nahi hai, tumhare saath nahi hai means..." He looked in her eyes and as if they had done the entire conversation in their mind, they nodded in agreement.
"Kuch to gadbad hai.." They said in unison. Perfect chemistry but it was not the time to think about it.
"Okay, just wait!!! I have a plan." He said taking a deep breathe. She nodded and the next moment he took a sharp turn to the road leading to main junction of three major roads of Mumbai. Even in the midnight, the place was too crowded. He carefully drove around the place making the car behind them utterly confused. Rajveer's men were unable to detect them in such a crowd. Going back empty handed wasn't an option either. They were stuck. Swayam cautiously drove past the place while the car behind them got stuck in the huge traffic unable to detect them further.
"An unhe waha se nikalne mein hi ghante nikal jayenge!" Swayam said giving a tense free smile. Tanya's giggled followed as she rested her head on the back of the seat. He was now driving on the main highway of the city within a feeble traffic.
"Now, can you leave me home?" Tanya picked her attitude once again.
"Ya sure.." He said with a smile. "But you have to admit that you enjoyed this ride with me." A little smirk played on his lips.
"What rubbish!!" She moved her head towards the window to avoid facing him. The answer was absolute yes and both of them knew it very well.
While she was blushing on his comment, her eyes suddenly stopped on a devastated car. It looked like a terrible accident.
"STOP!!!" She said aloud and he instantly applied brakes.
"Kya hua??" He looked at her worried face. She just pointed at the almost broken car at the side of the road turned upside down. Swayam's gaze followed and his heart beat quickened. It was not just a car. It was HIS brother's car.
They ran towards the accident spot only to find the driver dead. With a strong force, swayam pulled the back door of the car revealing two highly injured people. Tanya gasped in shock as she saw taani inside the car with her head heavily bleeding.
"Taani.." She murmured. Swayam was too busy to notice that. He pulled Rey and taani out and took them to his car. Tanya was too shocked to respond anything. She just followed swayam as he drove with the other three towards the hospital.
While the doctors treated taani and rey inside, swayam and tanya were waiting for a good news outside. They were numb. One of the most important people in their lives were in danger. Silence was prevailing as none tried to speak a word.
"Mr. Singhania!!" The doctor called swayam making him move finally. His legs moved towards him in anticipation.
"Don't worry, they both are fine." Doctor assured him as he hold him by his shoulders. He had a sigh of relief as soon as heard that.
"Reyaansh ko hosh aa gaya hai. But vo ladki..she is still in the effect of medicines. Thodi der mein unhe bhi hosh aa jayega." He moved after giving swayam an assuring smile. Without wasting a single second, he moved towards rey's ward. He had a lot of questions to ask.
Sitting on a bed inside a medical ward, Rey was grumping over his headache and severe arm pain. As soon as he gain conscious, the first thing he asked about was taani and after assuring that she is all fine, his whole attention moved towards Kapoors and what might be cooking inside their mind. Thinking too much was putting pressure on his brain which was under the effect of sedatives.
"Kitni baar kaha hai ki gaadi zameen par chalane ke liye hoti hai, hawa mein udaane ke liye nahi.." His head snapped at the sudden arrival of the voice. It sounded familiar.
"Swayam?? Tu yaha.." He was shocked but not much. It took him not much to understand that how did he and taani landed in this hospital.
"Mujhse questions baad mein puchna. Pehle mere questions ka jawab de!! Ye sab kya ho raha hai aur vo ladki kaun hai?" Swayam stood in front of him.
"Mein abhi kuch nahi bata sakta...bas itna samajh le ki kisi ko kuch pata nahi chalna chahiye, dad ko bhi nahi." Rey said in a calmed tone.
"Tu kar kya raha hai rey?? Itne dino se gayab hai aur ab achanak ye accident, chal kya raha hai?" Swayam was frustrated.
"Apni ek galti ko theek karne ki koshish kar raha hu." He smiled at his own words.
"Kaunsi galti??"
"Meine kaha na swayam, abhi kuch nahi...Bas tu mera ek kaam kar de. Yaad hai vo highway wala farmhouse..."
"Wahi jo tune dad se chupke khareeda tha??" Swayam smirked at him.
"Ha vahi.." He smirked back at him. "...mujhe waha tak jaane ke liye ek car chahiye.."
"Tu waha jaega?! Iss haalat mein?! Vaha to dur dur tak aadmi ka naamo nishan tak nahi hai."
"Isliye to waha jaa raha hu.." He murmured. "Tu bas ek car arrange karva. And remember that the car shouldn't be ours. Infact book a taxi. And pay him in advance. Kisi ko khabar nahi honi chahiye ki mein waha pe ho." Rey's mind was deeply working while swayam looked at him clueless.
"Ye ladki, taani hai na.." Swayam said making him snap at him in shock."Vahi ladki jiske liye tu dad ko uss party mein akele chodke aa gaya tha aur jisne tujhe jail pahochaya..Right?!!" No wonder, this was his blood brother. He and his brains. It was obviously hard to hide it from him for long. Rey just nodded.
"Are you sure tu phir wahi galti nahi kar raha??" Swayam was concerned after what his brother saw last time he fall in love.
"I am sure swayam. Mein iss baar koi galti nahi kar raha, balki khud hi sabse badi galti ban gaya hu. Vo mujhse kabhi pyaar nahi karegi. Par mein use pyaar karna kabhi chod nahi paonga." Swayam soothed him as he hugged him lightly and whispered a small 'take care' before biding a goodbye.
He started leaving only to be stopped by his big brother's voice. "Ladki achhi hai!" Rey winked at him as he eyed towards Tanya sitting on the bench right in front of his ward. She was visible through the mirror. Swayam blushed a little. "Uska dhyan rakhna.." The three words were quite non-understandable for swayam but nonetheless, he knew he'll follow them.

After gaining his much required strength, Rey came to taani's ward. She was still in deep slumber. Yes, she knew almost everything but all he wanted was to tell her that one fact that she missed in all this. Yes, he betrayed her, conned her..but now he was trying to amend every mistake. Yes, he knew her real identity and may be initially he was just playing this game with her but now all he want is her happiness. He looked at her face. She was pale and weak. His anger rose as he thought of the two people responsible for her this state but it soon had to vanish after seeing the poise and the calmness on her face while she is sleeping; like there's no problem, no pain, no hurt just a dream world where she was happy. His heart cringed as a thought crossed his mind- what if he is not the part of that dream world. While he was busy in his thoughts, she moaned a little in sleep. Before he could realise, she came out of the effect of sedatives. Her eyes opened and the first person they found in front was the last one she wanted- Rey.
"How are you feeling now?" He ask in a concerned voice.
"Hum yaha kaise pahoche.." She dodged his question. He was hurt but showing it in front of her was useless.
"Ek truck driver lekar aaya.." He lied. Telling anything about Swayam and Tanya was not advantageous now.
Her eyes moved to his bandaged arm and unknowingly a relief washed through her face.
"Humein yaha se nikalna hoga.." Rey said breaking her trance. She simply nodded. Rey was shocked. No fights, no snapping back and no taunts..she just nodded. Was he dreaming?
"Tum aaj mujhse ladai nahi karogi??" He smirked at his own statement.
"Mein koi 5 saal ki bachhi nahi hu jo bina baat jhagda kare. Tumhe mujhse ladai karne ka bahot shauk hai?!!" She snapped at him and his dream was broken. He just nodded in a straight no along with a playful smile on his lips. Nothing mattered more than the fact that she was fine. She looked away from him as an irresistible smile appeared on her lips too. God knows! What was wrong with her nerves? She was smiling because of him.
The car sped fast. Wind was blowing taani's hairs in different patterns. Sitting right beside her, Rey looked at the eternal beauty as her gaze was fixed on the outside view. Driver's eyes were transfixed on the road when out of the blues appeared a stray dog causing him to apply brakes all of a sudden. The duo who were sitting behind, felt a jerk and no later taani heard rey scream. Rey hold his injured hand as the jerk made him wince in pain. Out of reflex, taani quickly hold his arm and looked at his bleeding wound in concern. He was looking at her as if in trance while she suddenly started shouting on the driver for his reckless driving. Her sudden showcase of affection came as a shock for him as well as her. No later she realised what she was doing and instantly her hands drew back. She again drifted her gaze back to the window avoiding everything. He followed the same.
'Ye kya ho raha hai tujhe taani..' She thought to herself. 'Its not right. He is my enemy. That's it. MY ENEMY..' She sneaked at him only to find him smiling at himself. May be he was thinking over the same thing. She cursed under her breathe. 'Why everything was going out of plan?' Only if she had known, God had his own plans to make these two souls turn into one and this was the second step- From enemy to affection.
